In response to an earlier thread by ''Killjoy'' (what a moniker ) about ''Reasons Why Guys Should Never Get Married'', i was so disturbed that such a young man will have such a mindset about marriage, an institution that was made by the all knowing Creator for a special purpose, an institution upon which we are all a product of. if our parents had his views we wouldnt have been born let alone create a thread on Nairaland with the sole aim of discouraging guys from getting married.
Well this thread isnt to counter his (''killjoys'') thread, but to show the other (good) side of marriage which he chose to hide for reasons best known to him.
Being married is nowadays considered to be old-fashioned. Young people find matrimony conservative and prefer to stay officially unattached. Countries with traditional views still believe that family is something essential in every person’s life.
There are advantages and disadvantages in being married. Apart from weight gain and argument, there are positive aspects. If the union is happy, what the couple may experience is financial benefits, support, and good health. Sociologists have proved that those who prefer to get married to their partner are happier in their relationship than those who stay unmarried. More than that, kids who are born to married parents are much happier and psychologically healthier.

It's difficult to see otherwise...

If these are the only available reasons why one should get married, I think marriage is not worthwhile. These reasons are just too lame, compared to the seven reasons that buttress why guys should remain single...marriage is overrated.

@op, what do u mean by we are all a product of marriage or without marriage we wouldn't be born? Is everyone born in wedlock? so are u saying people can't have kids without being married.

trust me those born out of wedlock are infinitesimal compared to those born in wedlock. 99% to 1%. so i say its a valid assumption

But ur statement sounds like human beings can only reproduce if married. My point is we would still be born whether our parents were married or not.

I think it was we humans that abused this marriage of a thing,we made it looked as if it is a compulsory thing that everyone must perform,which is not and that why people who go into marriage with that mindset end up breaking up thereby creating the impression that marriage is not worthwhile.Jesus christ himself who was on Earth for a mission i.e to spread the goodnews to all mindkind never bothered to get married as the Bible was silent about his marital status and this was because it will be a huge distraction to him in accomplishing his missiom.But am in no way saying marriage is a crap because Jesus Christ first miracle was in a wedding ceremony in Cannan by turning water to wine(wow..so marvelous) so that also a prove that marriage is divine and is also God's plan for mankind.
