The 6 Gladiators In The APC!! Who Picks the Vice-Presidential Ticket? by pendy79: 4:54pm On Nov 17, 2014
Few weeks before the All Progressive Congress, APC, holds its presidential primaries, below is a cursory look at five politicians that are most likely to emerge as the vice-presidential candidate of the opposition party:

1. Governor Babatunde Fashola:

Arguably, he has the brightest chance among the lot. His greatest undoing would be if a Muslim presidential candidate emerges (which is most likely anyway), but the APC might ignore the warnings from different quarters not to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket and go ahead to draft Fashola into the race because of his popularity across the nation despite the recent denial by one of Buhari spokespersons.

2. Governor Adams Oshiomole:

The comrade governor as he is fondly called, is no doubt a leading candidate to emerge in this race. The former labour leader is well-known across the nation and he is generally seen as a man who is close to the people despite the PR disaster that led to the ‘Go and Die’ scenario. His boldness and oratorical skills cannot also be ignored. His national appeal will be an asset to whoever emerges as the presidential candidate of the John Odigie Oyegun led party.

3. Governor Rotimi Amaechi:

Ignore him at your own peril. An emerging political colossus, Amaechi is one politician that has fought so many political battles since he joined active politics and he always comes out victorious. His emergence as the vice-presidential candidate in the APC will no doubt give the PDP top-shots sleepless nights. He is sure to deliver millions of votes for the APC in his home-state just like he did for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2011 presidential elections.

4. Governor Rochas Okorocha:

Although, he has declared his interest to contest in the APC’s presidential primaries, the Imo governor will at best get the vice-presidential ticket as the APC leadership seem to have zoned the presidential ticket to the north. A rallying figure for the APC in the South-East, Okorocha’s national connections puts him in good stead if the party decides to look the way of the Igbos for the VP ticket

5. Dr. Chris Ngige:

A former governor and currently a serving senator representing Anambra central in the upper chamber of the national assembly, Dr. Ngige has seen it all in Nigeria politics.  His perceived closeness to Tinubu will no doubt give him the edge if the APC leaders decide to zone the ticket  to the South-East. Not to mention his loyalty to the party for close to a decade now. He also has a cult-like following in the South-East especially in his home-sate of Anambra.

6. Dr. Kayode Fayemi:

A shinning light amongst his peers, the 49-year old former governor of Ekiti state is one of the few decent Nigerians  that has graced the Nigeria political scene. Armed with a doctorate in War Studies from the prestigious King’s College, University of London, Fayemi represents the generational change that Nigerians have been yearning for in leadership positions. He stands a bright chance of getting the ticket if the APC zones the ticket to the South-West. And unlike Fashola, he is  a christian.

I'm more comfortable with Governor Fashola.marshalling the Economic blueprint of a Buhari Presidency.

The APC truly has a huge amount of eggheads in its midst and any of the 6men listed above have history of proven records against their names.

Choosing an Okorocha or Ngige will be political suicide though since their kinsmen have decided to sink or swim with the PDP despite the monumental failure the PDP represents.

But really for political exigency and for ensuring total humiliation of the PDP next year, A Buhari/Fashola Ticket needs no advert or PR. So let the party forget those noisemakers shouting muslim-muslim won't work in Nigeria. Match Buhari with the Pope and these same people shouting muslim-muslim ticket will not still vote him. Only a parochial and little mind thinks sentiments, great minds thinks of possibilities and the GMB/BRF ticket is the ultimate in the struggle to rescue nigeria from the abyss the PDP has taken and is taking this country.

God Bless Nigeria.

Muslim/muslim ticket is a political suicide which will re-affirm the Nigerian populace that APC is another version of Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood Party.

As far as am concerned, Buhari is a contraband/counterfeited political ware and any attempted attempt to pass him off as genuine political ware to the gullible electorates should be resisted and condemned in its entirety.angry

APC should field ROCHAS/FASHOLA or BUHARI/AMAECHI but I think with ROCHAS going for president S East will support him even S South will and with Fashola Yorubas will and Hausa people Love Rochas so much so they will support him that's Victory for APC if not APC might Fail. I have not seen an IGBO president since 1962 why.

Can someone please help me tell these igbo PDP supporters to leave this thread.

Give okorocha the APC ticket and he will only win his local government. A group of people who will tell you Ngige was the best candidate in the Anambra Election last year yet they refused him simply for primordial sentiments that he is running under APC. Gracefully the population of the Igbos cannot secure the presidency for any candidate nor can they deny anyone from getting there.

The reality of our times have made it imperative that the next General Election can make or mar Nigeria as a country. We can't have a president without a marshal plan to end the insurgency nor do we need a president who is scared of an ordinary Citizen of his own country who dare him to visit a certain part of the country and he truly chickened out of the trip.

Nigeria deserves better.

OP.

I agree with you.

I am a Yoruba Xtian and I would favour a Buhari/Fashola ticket

Neither can that of the Yoruba. You folks did not vote for Obasanjo in 1999 but he still became the president. No single region can EVER boast of returning a president. So cut the crap.

Olu Falae of 1999 is the jonaTAN of 2015. He had only regional bloc of support. And from what you put up you are agreeing to what I'm saying.

No coach will drop his best player to the reserve bench simply for his religious belief.

Your religion is your personal relstionship with your God and shouldn't be a criteria to judge you but your proven and verifiable ability to deliver when called upon to salvage a bad situation .

Those shouting muslim muslim issue won't vote APC so why bother pacifying or giving them their wish. Obama is a son of a muslim emigrant from africa, yet americans voted him because they felt they needed a CHANGE in Washington .

It is not all about religious sentiments but the situation on ground. A party which has about 70% top brass Alhajis has a tendency of breeding more extremists in such composition. If Janjäweeds' party tries such, it will be a walk over for PDP.

Will that make you vote for him rather than the jonaTAN you have sworn to cast your vote for?

All you know about Nda-Isaiah is the link on Nairaland you culled and therefore he is worthy of being a presidential candidate. You have your single vote use it as it pleases you.

Is winning one's state the criterion?I thought the party has structures?I suggest you look at his credentials and compare it with Buhari's.

Both of us are indeed saying the same thing but from different viewpoints. So, since no single zone can win the presidential election without other zones, why not face your business and allow people to vote how they like? It is a free world after all; and nobody is more or less important than others. In the end, who wins wins.

Ability to win election is the main factor you consider when presenting a candidate

WHats the use of a candidate with outstanding credentials yet cant win his own state? How far did Gani Fawehinmi's, Ojukwu, Pat Utomis, Fela Kuti etc credential take them in presidential elections

A Buhari/Ezekwesili Ticket is a good combo too but then she's not into politics nor a member of the APC hence I don't think she's interested.

Will an Ezekwesili change the mindset of most (not all) igbos who assumes any Igbo person in the the APC is an efulefu? Not sure it will nor will it earn the ticket any advantage.

OBJ was unable to win his LG but he won other state. He was an ex president and was popular country wide.

How many people know this Nda Isaiah to even vote for him

CHange? How do you bring change when you cant win an election to get into power. All the change in Gani, Utomi, Ojukwu where did it end when they couldnt win elections?
