@op. You might have a food allergy, most probably a grain allergy, especially the poster that said it gets worse when he drinks beer. When you liver is overburdened with waste created by the food allergy and cannot detox it efficiently from the body, it will try and detox it through the skin since the skin is one of the largest detox organ in the body, so bathing or exercising opens up your pores, which speeds up the process of the excretion of the waste piled up in the blood through the skin, hence the itching. Itching might also be worse in the night or early am. Try removing any grain from your diet for awhile i.e no food made with grain (flour, malt, beer, etc.), wait a few days to some weeks and see if the itching stops. 1 Like |

krofessor i think ure right. Cos ive not been bathing with sponge lately, just soap and water, but when i tried this morning: it was unbearable, i just had to use vaseline. I almost thought there were micro organisms in my sponge. I also feel itching when i use a towel the second time before washing it, even after drying it (after the previous bath). Its either i wash it after every bath or i dont use at all. Are there organisms that live/remain in these items after a bath. |

I thought i was the only one suffering from this, i mentioned it to my dad and he said he experienced it at a point in his life, that was when i knew it was hereditary (as someone said in the first page) and it could be outgrown as I'm still very young. Lol. Anyways, mine only happens during the day, like say 12pm to 4 or 5pm. Early morning bath, no problem! Late night bath, no problem! Funny thing is that i just unconsciously stopped using sponge, without really knowing that it helped. Lol i guess my subconscious was active. I only bath with cold water anyways, even in the coldest weather, i guess that has to reduce / stop now. And yeah, THANKS GUYS! |

There are diffnt types of itching. If you can confirm you are having itching after bath, a terrible and recurring problem, there is a newly researched solution now. Have being suffering from this itching of body after bath since when I was 9, I have tried everything possible to no avail. To make it worse like sweat heavily so I try to keep cool no matter what. When I bath with warm water I feel better, it doesn't each much. There was a day it rained on me, Jesus! I thought I was going to die, didn't even know I pushed my wife when she came to welcome me. |

konfessor: What works for me is a tight fitted shirt. I dont know if its psychological cure, but mine stops anytime i wear a very tight shirt. Since the symptoms are all the same, try it and see. |

I thought I was the only one suffering from this.although I have been to several doctors but non proffered solution, it got to a point I thought I was bewitched. meanwhile, I bath with hot water cos it really helps.though a permanent solution would do good.since doctors can't help, I pray to God to heal everyone going through this pain.Amen 2 Likes |

God bless OP for this topic..bin battling with mine since my se condary school boarding house..think I used flowing river water to bath nd it started since then... was alwz afraid to bath..went to see a doc.. gave me diff solution from stopping d use of sponge to using hot water to bath.. hot water helped to some extent... but he later told me to use piriton tablet (chlorapheniramine) 3 0min before bath... wc worked perfectly well... but stopped it later to avoide body resistance to d drug... thank God it has reduced now.. I used sponge twice a week..nd seldom get d itches...most tym wen d itches wld come after bath, i'd have a feeling of hit before bath... tnk u once again for this... basically use clean water, dry ur body immediately after bath and try d use of hot water often too... |

There's this thing Yoruba people call Naaroon. It has to do with this itching thing on the skin. Not sure if this is the case here but it's worth a try. Visit any of these women who sell local herbs called agbo and talk to them. Actually have a friend who had something similar to this last year and this worked for him. Hope this helps someone. |

I cant even remember when mine started, funny thing is... its hard to speak about it cos you would feel its just you and there is a problem with you, and its worse when someone's with you when this happens, u dont wanna be scratching in someone's presence and you cant withstand the itching... i will share my own experience as well.... first, i would say it has to do with something inside our body reacting to the outside activities, cos it doesnt happen all the time, just once in a while, i have noticed that whenever i skip using sponge to bath, the next time i use sponge, na war... and the reason why i said it might have something to do with the inside organs is cos, sometimes, u notice the itches move through your body as you are scratching it... Most times, it occurs when i use towel to dry off, i then changed towel but after the first or second use, it will happen again... Cream reduces the itching sometimes, but when cream doesnt handle it to my satisfaction, out of annoyance and frustration, i would start hitting the itching spot with my palm, and then it would die down, would keep hitting form one spot to another. Its been really frustrating, especially when you have to go to work and u cant leave in that condition. From other peoples contribution and experience, I would suggest the following, i dont think any medical medicine can work cos of the different cause/case and different body types. The herb idea may be a good remedy for some, if it is an internal case. Sponge free bathe, I think this works for me and i will stick to it. Spread your towel in a place where sun can really dry it after use, if its a rainy season when there is hardly sun, rotate at least 3 towels, so before you use the first one in 3 days, it would have dried off well. Cos its like our under-wears, the kind of smell they produce when its not totally dried is not healthy for the skin, just as underwear is the next thing to your skin, towel also is and even contacts your skin first before other clothes. Avoid changing of soap and cream every now and then. Bathe with cold water if it reduces the itches for you, and warm water if it works for you, but as for the very hot water, common, you are being harsh on the skin, did you just give birth? lol Drink more water and natural fruit juice, also eat natural fruits if u can be lucky enough to get one. For the ones that dont have a well furnished bathrooms, avoid your towel or body contacting the bathroom wall. Hopefully as time goes on, these itches will permanently disappear. 2 Likes |
