Wow !! ur story was kind of scary, how come you guys where still able to control the well even when you were short of cement? besides there are specific HPHT cements used for HPHT zones?

Hello House, please help me out , what are the most consumed chemicals in well drilling, what's the rate of consumption of these chemicals ,sodium/potassium formate,

I am a business man, that wants to sign MUO with a foreign company on representative in Nigeria, which companies are likely going to buy them from me.

I would appreciate your time in answering these.

Good day house,
I'm a Petroleum Engineer ,I have an Msc also in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot Watt University with a 3.6/4.0 GPA.The irony about this is that I have been trying to get a job for Years now,but to no avail,so I'm learning to sew..... Maybe my hand work would produce something tangible.

wow, dis is most unfair.....am shedding tears as i am readin dis.
Eventhough i studied mech. Engr in UNN, and still searchin for engrg related job bt dis case is worse dan mine by far.
Pls can i use dis opportunity to solicit 4 help on her b4 frm gr8 minds/ oil dons in d house dat can help in any way?
Baby, sent ur applicatn to indigineous oil firms n apply 4 intern/ volunteer work in big oil servicing firm. Google d firms. Learn a skill dat has practical relevance to oil n gas.
Dnt forget to b spiritually strong always.

Hello Guys....

If there are any Drilling managers here working for an operator looking to engage a Front-End Drilling Engineering Design person, or a Well Engineer, I am available and would happily send a resume and contact so that we can discuss.

If new projects are not being developed where will the new guys fit? BP has announced plans to layoff 4000, same with Halliburton 1000.

Redundant staff are being let go.

DrFerlie!
Am real pleased to have met u here on this very thread that is my live burning desire!

1st I got a lot on my mind that I think I can not be able to exhaust on this medium as it is not the same as oral explanation! I do please beg of u to become my personal career coach and adviser, but I know how much trouble u will be in giving out ur mobile number or e-mail in this platform! I therefore want to drop mine if it will be convenient for u to contact me, on whatsapp u can talk to me on 08180124841 or through mail oodookpejohn88@gmail.com.

Am a graduate of mechanical engineering from fut-minna, it is a life fulfillment for me to work in an offshore environment, since I didn't study petrolieum engineering how feasible it will be for me to achieve this? 2ndly what is the difference interms of area of work and job responsiblity for the following courses, subsea engineering, offshore engineering, well and reserviour enginering, what job do they handle and what is their area of responsiblities because am interested in working on the rig and which Msc course can help my B'Eng (Mech) achieve this.

Finally the Oron Accademy in Eket, what course can I offer there or any of such related school in Nigeria that can help my B'eng (Mech) in landing me the rig job? I don't care even if it means sweeping the rig and I will be allow to contribute or watch during production?
Thanks, as I anticipate ur respond I also hope to hear from u personally as I have a lot to discuss with u, once again my whatsapp number is 08180124841. Email oodookpejohn88@gmail.com

Hi All,

Good work by Dr Ferlie, Shinatu et al

I bring in subsea engr, project mgt and most recently drilling engr expericience to the forum

I can particularly assist with information for petroleum engineering education opportunities in US, Canada, UK, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Saudi etc, ofcourse it all depends on your current level of experience and educational background will determine which route i suggest to you

For professionals, any of you worked in south america or asia and want to share your experience?

I know little about getting jobs in nigeria, so may not be able to help much in that regards

Keep on drilling

Good day ALL,

I was about creating a Petroleum Engineers Forum under the career section before I found this using the search button. This is a wonderful thread and I say thanks to the creator and all those who have contributed positively to the thread.

I am a petroleum engineering graduate from ATBU Bauchi. I am presently an NYSC corps member in Delta. My first rig experience was 2009 when I was on IT with POOC. I was on KCA Deutag rig T76 @ Erimwindu drilling for oil for months. I was on the rig for about a month - witnessed drilling of the last hole section, Open Hole Logging, casing tally & inspection and cementing. It was a wonderful experience.

Nice thread.

Do you have an idea under what state Erimwindu is recorded for Fiscal Revenue?

I have decided to create a thread for drilling engineers and drilling supervisors ( company man ), so that we can share experience and best practices.

I am currently working on a BOD for a deepwater field development - drilling and completion.

Guys, come in and let's discuss.

hey guys
came across the thread and i thought i should share my challenge with the guru/experienced dudes in the house.
i have got an interview with a big oil and gas company, just found out that part of questions would also come from one's background however i have never practiced as a mechanical engineer ever since i graduated many years ago, have been on the sales and marketing lane.
i really don't know how deep the questions could be? whether it would be a core engineering questions? dont know where to start from?
should i dust my old long-abandoned text books even though some of us crammed just to pass our exams cool
please guys i need your candid advice or suggestions please
its a graduate trainee position...wish to change my career path
experienced dudes, please what kind of mechanical engineering questions should i expect? really don't know where to start preparing besides...
will highly appreciate suggestions, recommendations etc
Thanks

I am a petroleum engineering students writing a
research project on the topic: "Influence of fault
geometries on pressure buildup in appraisal well
testing" my objective is to develop a direct
method for determining faults effects and to
calculate the distance from the fault to the
wellbore. I have tried using the the principle of
superposition applying the method of images for
different fault configurations but my efforts to
develop a fault detection method seems abortive.
Any contribution or suggestions shall be highly
appreciated, I shall also be grateful if anyone can
connect me with a well test engineer. thanks

Dr Ferli

I am a graduate of Chemistry and I want to pursue a career in the upstream oil and gas industry though I work in a different field now..I recently came across a training school here in Lagos that is offering courses.I have interest in enrolling for the the Assistant driller course...my questions are

1.the duration for the training is 10 days (classroom training and practical rig experience) Will this be ample time to get all the required knowledge one needs?
2.should I go ahead and apply for PGD program in petroleum engineering and later on go on to MSc in a university

3.How well recognized is the Institute of petroleum and drilling engineering IDPE in the the oil sector in Nigeria it seems new.

the certificates that will be offered after the training are 1. IADC, Assistant Driller Certificate under IADC Drilling Industry Training Certificate (DIT)
2. IADC HSE Rigpass Certificate
3. IADC Well Control Certificate, Mandatory for every drilling personnel coming on board a rig.
4. Man- management and Rig management certificate.
5. Rig inspection Certificate.
6. Practical Rig exposure Certificate

your advice is needed.

Hello dear, were you able to get this training? Please how did it go?
