Frankly if TBills go any higher than 13% we are all in trouble. It means your Naira is useless. Don't wish it. |

nitrogen: Surprisingly, after that MPC meeting everything has been in the Green zone and if it reach 14 0r 15naira,I will sell within a minute.......I think I now know very well when to get in and get out of the market.....But without the online broking service,it would have been impossible but thanks to that Oscar guy for bringing innovation to our stock market.....One important lesson separate your fixed income investment from equities...And buy only blue chip stocks so as to always get value no matter what the situation is.........It seems mutual fund will fizzle out soon.... |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by angelo82: 8:55pm On Nov 27, 2014 |
coderXO: Only a year T.Bills will yield as much as 13.5% but short term Tbills can never yield that much......I am sure Naira will regain value by Feb.. 2015..... |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by obiak4(m): 7:24pm On Nov 28, 2014 |
giftbox:it is very wise to buy but make sure you get a high stop rate when buying to make up for the risk incase yawa gas. Bt to be frank guys ntin will happen come 2015 it just an election.politician will always be politician abi them get another country other than 9ja? |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by dandollar1: 9:13am On Nov 30, 2014 |
angelo82:says who? My first T.bill 2ys ago was above 13 percent for 91days. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by angelo82: 11:20am On Nov 30, 2014 |
dandollar1: Because interest rate has been increased to 13% is not a guarantee for high interest on TBills........There are other factors that determine increase in rates on all instruments.....But across all tenure for now interest rates will inch up slowly by 0.50% and not automatic increase.....So two years ago is not today, the indices are different now.....Yep I said so! 1 Like |

Gud a.m house, you can look up http://www.proshareng.com/news/25291 . It's meant as a sensible guide for today's likely bid rates and not the actual bid rate O please!! Heads up,everyone |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by weimar: 9:24pm On Dec 03, 2014 |
Damolaskynov:I really think the TB bids should be in the range of 15% --18% plus. The fact naira has been devalued by 8% is strong reason for the Fed to pay 16-18% interest on principal. And most likely, there will be a lot of skepticism among customers targeting this market. |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by pappilo(m): 8:48am On Dec 04, 2014 |
obiak4: Exactly! But they are the analysts/experts so I no go argue. 364 day Tbill was 12.4% last auction before the rate rise and devaluation, yet they reckon we should bid maximum 11.2% for 364 day Tbill. Since the economic downturn of 2008 and Lehman Brothers collapse, I dont trust anything these analysts say. How come the thousands of analysts working in the major banking corporations didnt see the recession coming infact many of these organisatiins were consumed by it. |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by petikal(m): 10:06pm On Dec 04, 2014 |
The current rates are still conservative, should be over 14%. CBN can't devalue Naira by over 8%, increase borrowing rate, and not adjust TB rate accordingly. Economically it doesn't make sense. 1 Like |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by MOBBDEEP: 3:26pm On Dec 05, 2014 |
Pls, can someone kindly help me with this enquiry. Is the same rate applied for all customers irrespective of their agents/banks? I saw a post above me quoting 9.9% whereas another person posted 10.05-13.4% Why the difference? |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Elai147: 7:43pm On Dec 05, 2014 |
MOBBDEEP: No. Bids that are equal to or lower than the CBN´s stop rate will be successful. So it actually depends on your bid. 1 Like |

Elai147:Thank you Sir & may God increase your knowledge. Please, I have 3 followup questions to your response which are: * How do the banks (as my agent) make their gains? * Can the bank's bid differs from mine e.g supposing I place a bid of 10%, can the bank go to make a bid of 13% with my money? *How does one ensure that the bank does not jeopardize my bid or trade? NB: Pls, anyone can kindly answer me! |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by petikal(m): 7:41pm On Dec 06, 2014 |
MOBBDEEP: Banks rarely give you CBN rate, unless you're an excellent predictor. Here are your possible outcomes: - You specify 12.3%, and bank wins at 12.3%, you get 12.3%. Bank makes no money. - You specify 12%, bank wins at 11.98%, you miss out. Your money stays in your account. - You don't specify a minimum, bank bids to their best max and wins, you get the winning percentage minus 0.2-0.4%. |
