NIGERIA IS STUCK WITH KESHI:

From Samson Siasia and Stephen Keshi, two former international players that played at the highest levels of football and have handled the senior national team, Nigeria has engaged a new generation of younger indigenous coaches from which it cannot go back anymore.

Unfortunately, after Keshi, also, the pool of qualified Nigerian coaches that can handle the Super Eagles, now a globally acknowledged footballing brand is very small. Beyond Siasia and Amokachi (both have had stints and may not be considered as heads again) I see only Sunday Oliseh as a respected but unlikely option.

He is very well respected as a football analyst, with excellent paper qualifications but still lacking the depth in coaching experience and achievements, that can justify why Nigeria should give him the opportunity to do in the Eagles what Pep Guardola did in Barcelona FC with massive effect on how the Spanish national team started to play their brand of football. So, aside from Oliseh who would not be even be considered by the NFF, the pool is dry for now.

Renew Keshi's contract ke? My Own ideas about contract renewals are based on performance. In this case, I am at a loss on the basis for the renewal of his contract?...........

It happens my people! Don't let's condemn him cos of this failure! Even the world's most successful coaches at one point in time in their career also fails eg Mourinho who now has a record of two consecutive trophiless seasons! One with real madrid and the other with chelsea but no 1 condemned him for this, rather the fans gave him their backing. We all can see the resultant effect of that! Let's do the same for Keshi, I believe he'll bring us back to the glory days. Up Naija!!!

This epitomises part of that which is wrong with this country, the central government never listens to the governed, the will never give a damn about our wishes.

Why only Him,why not give others chance anyway that's NFF for u,Happy new Month fellas
why re you guys talking 'giving others a chance'. Coaching is'nt something u change and change. Thats what has affected Nigerian football so long. But, I think this set of NFF realized that and are willing to carve a new niche. Keshi will do well.

I don't why people should break their head over this keshi's matter, the contract is just for one year, truth be told, keshi deserves a new contract especially after the world cup, I see it as a compensation for the hard work he's done in the past before our failure to qualify for the next afcon.

Let's remember he was out of contract during the qualifiers.

By the end of 2015, there could another decision to let him go. The eagles will not be in any competition in 2015 apart from friendlies so what's our problem?

You guys should let him be we don't have serious matches until 2016.

Really? After winning you Nation's cup, qualifying you for the world cup and taking you for the round of 16 within 2 years of his employment. I guess the best man is sbd that can win the next world cup. Nigerians really lack patience..

I think it is a good move,to treat Keshi atleast somehow close the way we treat foreign coaches who ended up not achieving anything to Nigeria Football.Of course, paying him this kind of salary and sending him and others training abroad deserve commendation from NFF,so that if after everything,he still fail, then nobody can blame NFF or fed government that they did not try their best and can then go to foreign coaches. For me,its a very good idea and i commend NFF for that.Lets nucture and groom our own brother to international professional coaching standard using such resources we would have given to foreign coach. At the end nobody can talk bad about NFF if after spending such huge amount on him and he still fails. So lets give supports to NFF and Keshi. All the best!
