@globaldream! Did you get any Milestone attached to your appendix? If so what were they. For me and others that signed on the day we did, we did not get any milestone on our appendix as it was blank.

I want to go into plantain flour processing, I applied for 7M and but YouWIN slashed it to 5M. My tranche 1 is now going to be 1M.

Here is what i have in mind, to use the 1M and rent a space, put a few offices together, do all registrations and licensing needed and then wait for tranche 2 which I can now use to purchase the machineries and start production.

But now that I just learnt tranche 2 might take up to 7months, my plan doesn't look wise again.

Plantain flour processing involves machineries. How am I suppose to start a plantain flour plant with 1M and start generating cash flow b4 tranche 2?

Well, you need a space and you need the registrations (NAFDAC for instance). What you can do is to collect proforma invoices from the machinery manufacturers and make sure you have all receipts for purchases at your disposal. I do not know what targets you were given in terms of employment and monthly revenue, but you can employ one staff who will be paid the least. If you can exhaust the money and prepare the financial report for the 1st visitation by the SMEDAN and private monitors, you can convince them to make a case for you at the YouWIN secretariat to get the tranche 2 released early. Use the proforma invoices to show you are ready to move to the next stage.

If you are lucky, you may get your 2nd tranche 3 months after the 1st.

When i came back to this topic and saw page 74. I thought we have been paid only to open and see arguments. Abeg when are they paying us o. I need this money more than anybody.

Now back to business. Everybody that is agitating and clamoring for speedy release of the 1st tranche is doing that in the spirit of patriotism. We are also screaming because we are fully determined to make the YouWiN! program work. If we only want to collect the money and use it any how we will NOT be worried. Rather we will just relax waiting 4 d money. But we are screaming now because as the day and hours tick by we and going deeper by the day into more unfavorable period for business expansion and start up.

Any poultry farmer will tell you that he/she is far behind schedule and as the day goes by it keep becoming more and more unfavorable.

School owners will tell you that first term which is the best of terms is come and gone and all he/she can struggle for now is to see how to make up this December against second term, which is only second chance.
Even merchants who want to sell in festive season will tell you that this is the best of time to stock your warehouse.

On the issue of crude oil. In fact it is to our advantage, because I make bold to declare that this YouWiN! is the best thing that ever happen to this country. Now the best thing any government will do now is to diversify the economy and this YouWiN! program has accorded this government the opportunity to do that. So more naira crumble the more government need you and I to help in stabilizing the economy and the more oil crash the more better efforts needed to be place to ensure that YouWiN! work.

The best thing that can happen to help rescue the YouWiN! 3 time lost now is the speedy release of this first tranche this week unfailingly.

So that it will not be triple tragedy.

That's a nice question... As we await answers remember u have a plan(ur proposal) u ought to follow tru what you said u will do....
And pls don't get me wrong, I know all u guys are saying makes a lot of sense given d fact of delays in trenches..

However the question is.. Will d 1st trench be enof to run your business until d 6th or 7 month when d second trench will come in U can't start something you can'tfinish.....

@ jimmferson. My one legal agreement does not have milestone also.Think for now no milestone has been given, even as our stage two plan has mile stone. But they cant follow it cause they av slightly riase our first tranche to 20% instead of 10%. So i belive youwin will communicate a new milestone to us in due time. Lets watch out.

When filling my application, I worked with a very nice lady I met here then was shocked by another nairalander that I spoke with for 16 minutes on the phone then he became busy and promised to call back. About 2 hours later this nairalander called me and we were on the phone for 47 minutes. This is a person I have never met in person or even know his real name.

Does anyone have any information about d SME growth fund dat was launched with Youwin 4 - like how 2 apply for d fund, what businesses qualify 2 apply, etc.? I encouraged a friend wit an existing poultry business dat didn't make d Youwin 3 winners' list to apply for d fund, but so far we haven't received any response 2 emails we sent 2 d contact email provided on their website, and d contact telephone number provided is never available. I give someone an honest answer based on my experiences on certain issues, and he decides to start using insults.

It has its good and bad parts, which I admit. But when someone who is not even the subject of the argument takes it upon himself to hurl insults at me, I will not just keep quiet. @ Terry1, to be candid your case is tricky a little. Because if you were to rent a place with your first tranche, the rent will almost run out before you get the next tranche. It is imperative you think hard and wisely.

For your product you need Nafdac standard specification for food grade factory and equipments. This is usually a four roomed space with the septic tank required to be located atleast 30 metres from the water source. You cannot start the Nafdac process in the interim as it will require inspection of both factory space and equipments which your tranche 1 can't cover.

I will advise you to process your paperworks necessary for Nafdac certification like the trademarks and co, while you await the second tranche in order to start up.

Please do go to FIIRO, Oshodi as they have standard set of equipments for Plantain flour Business.
