Caveatemptor, zachie, maitema, themadame....Big ups

Thanks.
What we all need to do now is to exercise a lot of care and cooperate with the new man so we can get our goods out of the sheds before Christmas. Please take it easy with your agents so that unneeded pressure does not lead to another closure. Agents please cooperate with the authorities. Please pay your required duty and take delivery of your goods in the proper way.

Big ups to everyone!!!!

The fight was well fought. You must never underestimate the reach of all your outpourings here.
Taking the fight to their Twitter page was equally beautiful. In all, the lesson learnt is never to be silent in the face of oppression.

As for Olarenwaju, he is like the proverbial stubborn fly that follows a dead body into the grave. He refused to heed all reasonable opinions because he thought we was bigger than everyone. He underestimated you E-warriors on Nairaland and the vibrant emerging army of enterprsing young importers.

Kudos folks and let,s follow our individual dreams knowing that, we are in this race of life together, the only race without a winner. Abi you don see persin wey come first for life race before?

And yes, that shipment will not be delivered overnight, patience please.

Cheers. I am out.

Still too early atm. Considering a huge backlog of cargo strewn all over d tarmac as depicted by pictures provided by respondents present @ d airport...it might take a little while b4 orderly and on schedule clearing starts.

You have had your answer. Once your shipment leaves the US on USPS, you wont hear anything about it again UNTIL it is delivered, IF IT EVER GET DELIVERED. Often, it will just disappear into thin air, apparently appropriated by some NIPOST rats. Good luck, man.

It's been an amazing time with you guys here. I'm sure this thread will remain open anyway.

Hopefully there shouldn't be a re-occurrence of such a tormenting and destabilising situation at the airport and even any other area in our dear country be it socio, political, economic etc. Our agitation was properly channelled here and on twitter by those of us that joined the twitter barrage as well. We should be proud of what we've all done (even though we can't say 100% that it was as a result of it the desired result was actualised). I implore us to use the same positive energy to fight the ills in our system.

Kudos to all (numerous to name), especially r231, Bigtt76, Mr. Mbok(Saintalone), Zachie, Caveatemptor and ZeMadame. Although we (last 3 names mentioned) had altercations somewhere along the line, it was strictly business and nothing personal. Consiglieri Tom Hagen. Lol

Cheers guys!

Go to www.trackitonline.ru

Try track it there and see what comes up. All in all, once the package has been handed over to Nipost, you will most likely not know until it gets delivered to you, and this will take several weeks because of how our Nipost people work.

People get packages everyday, so rid yourself of worry and expect your item. I know that thefts and package bypassing is not new in this country, but you will get your package.

Depending on the value of what you're expecting, you should consider using UPS or FeDex next time.
You guys should stop making comments not supported by facts. I am not the biggest fan of Nigerian run compnaies but you have to give it to nipost. They have improved alot. Have you tried tracking the item using their online tracking tools?

Most people ship without using the proper zip codes or telling the shipping company to include their number on the package. I have bought things twice now. One from the UK and another China. and Nipost were the ones that called that my package had arrived and I could even track it on their website. which post office it was and the different procedures it has undergone

Firstly, I'm not sure why you quoted me. Secondly, you apparently didn't read my posts that you quoted in a hurry. Thirdly, Nigerian states don't use zip codes in shipping parlance. Fourthly, you don't see people writing dem damn phone numbers on top of dem packages, or do you think its school hostel where u name and tag all your items? Finally, can you in your extensive knowledge and wisdom of shipping and postage, explain why it takes average of 3-4weeks to deliver to Nigeria, an item sent from USA/UK for example, but average of 1 week thereabout to deliver to USA/UK, an item sent from Nigeria by standard or registered post?

You like arguing blindly I see. Don't print your number on the package you hear. someone’s giving you heads up on helping you get your package more easily and faster but you keep on arguing about what is not.

Nigerian addresses don't use zip codes? With that I just need to rest my case. seems like I took a time travel machine back to the 90s by talking to you.

And If you don't know . I recieved all my packages within 6 to 8 days after it left the destination Nipost is not to blame when you wrongly address and not input the right zip codes. They are not perfect and not at the point i would wish they are but they would be more efficient if ignorant people like you would take time to research things before buying and shipping.

Mr shipper and mr know it all. I won't be surprised if you fail most of your school exams this way. You blindly quoted me because u thought you had an information or misinformation to pass accross.

FYI, I'm not the one expecting a package dude. Read d thread properly before you start hurrying your misinformed fingers and brain to type poo.

Lexyp is the one expecting a package from USPS.

Now, to my matter with you. What's the name of your city and what's the zip code? What's the zip code of Lagos, Abuja? Calabar? Because you're obviously confusing american zip code nomenclature for nigerian postal codes or maybe even phone codes.

You should read properly next time before your hurry your fingers.

Lol..I should ask you if you have comprehension issues. I know who is expecting a package but I directed my message at you because you seemed to be passing the wrong information about Nipost. I gave you reasons why you may have a bad time with them and ways to avoid such. But what did you respond with?

That it is childish to put your phone number on your package. All I did in my first post was to help anyone who needs the right info so as to avoid delays with Nipost.

As for your American style zip codes. You just keep mixing things up. So what happened to the american styled zip codes with hypens in between? If you want to know why there are hypens between most American zip codes. e.g 11637-5758. Google is your friend bro. make use of it.

Oh...Now it's about grammar. ? Zip codes and post codes?

My last response to you.

Re: Pandemonium At Lagos Airport As Customs, Agents Clash by ZACHIE: 6:32pm On Dec 04, 2014
Not good news but it must be said since you asked for it.

Customs have decided to double the Duty benchmark hitherto paid on all shipmenst.
Before now, minimum Duty benchmark was 50,000/ shipment of less than 50kgs.
Now that it is doubled, it means you pay 100,000 for any shipment of less than 50kgs regardless of its value/cost. (I will post the intended tariff later on)

And this is beside NAHCO/SAHCOL handling charges, SON/NAFDAC for regulated items, Agency fee and documentation expenses and transportation charges.

Welcome to the changes Olanrewaju brought to the Airport.

Before now, you could arrange to do tarmac pickup for small items and parcels. But with what is coming, you cannot do that.

They may just have killed little businesses with this obnoxious increased benchmark.

Conversely, this might also mean an upsurge in the number of importers doing proper PAAR documentation.

I haven't even asked u about american zip code patterns and you're starting a whole Iknowitall on that already. I dont know for the other people, but I speak out of personal experience for myself. I have had materials posted through USPS that you track out of US and then disappear forever. Not once, not twice. Personal. Not that someone told me. And I used my office address; one of the most popular teaching hospitals in Nigeria. If you get your package, maybe it is some small items, any big items; phones, laptops etc, forget it.

Well chargeable weight is different from actual weight and in airfreighting, the airline will choose whichever is higher.
This apply even in Tibet, so going to Ghana will not change anything, Sister.

There are 2 applications to this: an import of say empty Suitcases will occupy space but will be light.
The chargeable weight will be the dimensional area mass occupied by the suitcase and not its actual or scale weight.

The other one is a little technical and it is used only for paying freights

Everybody knows how it is with receiving stuff from Nipost.

Jejely praying for my stuff to be cleared on time. As to the now exhorbitant charges, I honestly see everyone having to pay that, if u want your cargo to be cleared. How am I sure this wasn't their target from the onset?

Subsidy and fuel increment episodes comes to mind.

Very true. And this is exactly what I responded to the person who complained. He either waits patiently for his item or it doesn't get delivered at all. Its why many sellers especially in usa won't ship down to Nigeria or even overseas, where tracking becomes a spiritual thing.
