Hello peeps. I noticed no one has answered my question. I was actually an active member of this thread before the Tsunami and contibuted earnestly to it. One of the first set of people that went to MHIS and stayed at zazu panee. I gave extensive reviews and many people found it useful. I answered so many people's questiions and gave feedbacks but now that I need help, people are ignoring me. Pls if anybody has any suggestions, pls share. I've tried so many times and can't figure what I'm doing wrong. Thanks
sorry about this, please try to call their embassy again or ask the v.o (@abujaniv) on the other thread, just retry again and it might pull through, people are probably not answering because they don't have a perfect answer to give ni. I hope you find a solution to it smiley

hello. please I'm trying to find the origin of writing a letter to the u.s embassy to inform them that you now want to use the visa to give birth in the U.S. Because when one obtains a visa for tourism, for instance, and visits as intended, and then decides the second time to use the same visa to attend a course or conference, do we write the embassy to inform them of change of plans? and, medical purposes is one of the stated accepted uses of a B1/B2 visa. so, I dont know how it started that there is a need to inform visa of change of plans to medical use. or was it the V.O in the other thread who advised?
When you write the embassy, theywould even respond that you are not mandated by law to inform them that you are going to give birth, they would just advice you to hold enough money to cover all your expensis and make sure you have all your receipts with you when you come back.
I guess the letter to the embassy was introduced when POE officers started asking if the visa was gotten for the purpose of coming to give birth in the us,so the person can respond that even though it wasent gotten for that purpose, they communicated their intention to the embassy before travelling and they have the embassy's reply as proof of doing so. This is just my opinion.

They might also ask for evidence of accomodation and why do you want to come to US to have baby.

Thanks for your response, am actually in the us @ the moment, booked my appointment @ the doctors office and was given a letter show the date of appointment, was just wondering if there is any other document I need to get from the doctor to show @ the port of entry.

do you mean future port of entries because since you are in the u.s already you have entered and where you were stamped in is your entry port, and for the future you go with your payment receipts and any other evidence of payments to show you have a zero balance and you didn't owe.

some people mentioned that they paid part of the bills and when they returned for childbirth they showed the immigration officers that they had come earlier for vacation and they had paid partly.

Good Morning

This has really been a value adding thread and a big thanks to all the contributors...

Just popping in to share my wife's POE experience this week. Will give background info..

Visa was secured earlier in the year for dis years vacation and we used it for the vacation in summer (By this time she had taken in). When we got back from vactn, we did some research on hospitals and concluded on Hosuton - WHMC... After further talks, we realised they weren't open to vbac and had to start a fresh search, which got us to elpaso, via doctoresparati.

Bill of almost $9k was given, for vbac, and we paid $4.5k in advance to avoid carrying excess cash and also as proof of willingness to settle all bills.
We also sent an email to the embassy and got the standard response.

Next we started work on flight and accommodation. Houston was avoided for obvious reasons. New York was strongly considered but, as a faith family, we agreed with one mind, that the flight with the least flying tym and connecting flights outside of Houston will be good enough. So we settled on Atlanta (Delta) and booked HisGraceLodge for stay.

Travel Date:
I am not sure aw my sleep went on the night of her travel.. I rmbr dreaming they cancelled the flight route and then took them to heathrow and then to New York.... Lol.

Her POE experience was a total of 10mins of talk. 6mins wt d 1st guy. 4mins wt d 2nd guy.

1st guy's question
Reason for coming / duration / why is hubby not wt her / what does hubby do / what she does in 9ja..
And then the guy did finger prints and said he wld take her to another person to confirm what she has said

2nd guy's question
Have you made any payment to d hospital. (She showed d pymt rcpt), asked if she had cash, (she said yes) How much (she answered - a little below $10k and brought it out of her bag).
He nodded but didn't collect or count. And then stamped her in for 6 months and then told her she could rest and take her tym before leaving d office (what kind of rest is that!,) she got up and left as quickly as possible and headed out to look for waiting area for elpaso flight.

She has had her clinic at elpaso and made the balance payment. And so far, so good, she's happy with the clinic and personnel.

I do hope this inspires someone and I pray for greater favor for everyone... For visa, for smooth POE experience and for safe deliveries. May God grant our heart's desires.

@ fehinebony
You might need to show them your doctors appointment letter, you might also need to show them receipt of payment if you paid in advance or a document showing a break down of your expected bill issued by your doctor or hospital or both, cash in hand as evidence that you can pay for the bill and lastly evidence of accomodation.
It should also be mentioned here that people have entered the us for birthing purpose without being asked for any document, but that being said,it is better to be prepared.

Hello people,
Lesson learnt
1. Read the thread carefully it helps and do a lot of research personally, may be of greater help. Not every information online is true(as it seems it is difficult to control online informations)
2. Never change the flow of your application forms.stick to what you filled and defend it if sure of it.
3. Honesty preached on this thread

Thank you all for the sincere posts and feedbacks on this thread.

Please refer to my previous interview transcript.Seems that was the main interview.Interviewed today, was the first person to be interviewed.

VO:are u next?
Me: yes.we greeted(VO responded good morning with a professional face)
VO: pass me your documents please( collected passport and started typing for almost a minute)
VO: Are you still going for the same purpose?
Us:yes
VO: what has changed from the last time?do u now have the right documents now
Us:yes
VO:ok(kept typing).how much do you earn?(we responded)
VO: do you have enough fund saved for this purpose(with a straight face)
Us:yes(do u mind to see our documents)
VO:No it's ok.(read and kept typing,typing,typing,typing......no smiles)
VO: pick up your visa and printed the paper

Hello hopefulme ,

Congrats on your visa. The interview was quite short and he seems from the word go,the VO has made up his mind to grant you the visa.that was amazing favor sha. Quick one though:Did you re-apply with your family and reused the same elpaso. Also where was your visa interview(Lagos or ABuja)

@chloe7 and @babatwi, thanks so much for your response.
Initially I planned paying for doctors fee, but my husband feels i should just return and declear cash @ the port of entry and also cos the exchange rate now is too high now(when I left naija for uk it was $1-N170, getting to us it's now $1-N186) considering he has to send the money to me. @ the hospital I was told I can't register or pay now cos my due date is stil in April that I should allow 2 months b4 delivery date.
As for accommodation, my appointment letter was addressed to a family 's address in the us.
Thanks again guys.

Hello forever blessed, we are doing great.
I am staying in augusta and had to go to Atlanta for the nigerian passport.

For baby's documentations l filled the information in the hospital and asked that they request for the SSN card. Both came after 10 days, I went to the vital records office to pick up the birth certificate while the SSN card was mailed to me. I would advise you make more than 1 copy of the birth certificate from the vital records office. I did 5 in total.

For the nigerian passport we went through the steps on the Atlanta website. Paying was a bit challenging as I had to register my usa account details with the payment agents but I have been told from here that you can either use money order which would take a while or go to the consulate and look for a guy called eddy. Pls check mimibe response to my question on this for further details.

Anyway once we completed the application we got an automated interview date of 12th December. However we still went to the consulate early the next morning and within 1 hour we were done. Passport will be mailed to us within 2 weeks. For the American passport we have an appointment for it on Monday in augusta. Hopefully it should come within 2 weeks as well.

hope this helps. Have a blessed day. Now back to my vigilante work. Baby keeps us up day and night..lol.. but we love her anyway. It's been fun learning to parent. .There's no greater job in the world.

I can't find eddy number anymore but go to Nigerian embassy on roswell rd they will give you is number or his card but his office is before the embassy anyways. He is always. Alternatively you can fill your info online. His charge is abt $25 or so, this is just to fill the online stuff o, I got my son's passport in 2days. I paid close to $200 in total for naija passport.

It depends on what you want. If you want a shorter flight time go for BA. If you want a fantastic flight experience and service, regardless of the flight time,go for Emirates. Emirates is setting the pace when it comes to onboard service

The best time to buy BA is January and February ( ve been doing it for 5 yrs now). If u don't want to risk it now, u can book ur ticket bt check for same route in Jan and February and see d difference, u ll be surprised.
