So this has to do with the character of most young people today,saving money is really one hell of a task for them because they believe somewhere in their heads that their savings should have a limit and most of this young people don't even realise they do such things.
For example, you see a hard working young boy and obviously he's making alittle change from the work he's doing but you'll be suprise to realise that he only invests the money in irrelevant things like mobile phones,tablets,cloths and so on, but saving the money to migrate to a better business is kind of not on his dictionary.
Now am wondering if this kinda attitude is normal or man made , just curious... Drop your opinions

This is a baseless question if you ask me.
It's because most are not gainfully employed.

When one is underpaid, you save at your own risk because hunger fit kill you and people will eat what you saved.

In summary, the average Nigerian man works just to place food on his table so he could live another day.

Too many reasons like recharge card, recharge bills, bank charges, ATM charges, transport, refill gas cylinder, mega byte too, shaving. etc.

No, it's all about self-discipline.

Over here, we call it youthful exuberance.

The only way young people can really save is when they have someone taking care of the feeding, rent and when the money is enough.

With this mentality, you'd never save no matter how much you earn.

You can learn from this.

Nothing is too small,small drops of water make a mighty ocean.
Some believe that they don't have enough to spend yet,why saving. But if you have such thinking,even if you are making a millionaire daily,you won't save.

Saving is a very big task today because a lot of young folks want to meet up societal demand but even @ dat the economic is not encouraging savings a lot of rigidity in the society only the rich want to be recognized and respected.

I have a colleague that earns close to N600k/month and still does not have any savings apart from the N50k esusu in d office. In some months my guy still borrow money from fellow colleagues to survive the months

This is one aspect of life I've found difficult this year... I plan to over come it by next year. so help me God!

It is man-made.
Businesses these days are doing everything possible to sell their services n goods.
Social n mass media are doing everything to pass the msg of "spend-to-show-your-status" to everyone.
Young ppl are the most affected because older ones like us have known from own experiences that there's sooo much more to life than luxury and pleasure.

The younger minds are easily influenced.

To improve ur savings habit, I recommend this book 'The richest man in babylon'. Its a very good book.

They can't save when they want to buy things they don't need just because they must please society.

I agree with you 100% on this. On a salary of 50k per month, one can save at least up to 25k but that is only if you don't have any responsibility outside just you, yourself and you. Add other things like family, bills, tithe , tax feeding etc to just that 50k, and there's almost nothing left to save.

That said, I think the habit of saving can be cultivated by saving no matter how little from however little one earns.

My two cents opinion.
