Chibok is 30 minutes drive from Chad and Cameroon
.

So are you telling me that NAF didn't have any Jets or Helicopters equipped with Thermal or Night Vision on stand by, just in case something extremely f*cked up happens.

The North is an obvious hotstop, I don't mean to sound like and expert on everything but you guys had plenty of helicopters back then, making sure that a couple of you S.F members are always on stand by and to have one or two choppers ready two provide support would be the most logical thing to do in an area like that.

Reason why Janes magazine did NOT attach itself to it, they put the South African writers name there to show source.

Was the Helmot man on that battlefield in Bangui?

Let him show us Seleka dead bodies, or Seleka funeral, or Seleka graves, or names listed of Seleka men who died.

ZERO evidence of a single dead Seleka. 100% evidence of 15 dead SANDF.

So that the Alpha jet can bomb all the Bokos and the 300 Chibok girls together right? Then BBC will come and video burnt bodies of the girls right? Then Amnesty International will give NAF best performing air force award right? Surely President Goodluck Jonathan will win 2014 Nobel price for Common Sense, right?

See the damage South African education has done to your already naturally low I.Q.

Where did I say that your jets should have bombed them, I merely mentioned jets and Helicopters using thermal vision to track them, @ActivateKruger said that you couldn't even track down 300 girls, and I responded by saying that I was shocked when it happened because the heat produced by more then 300 hundred people would be clearly visible when using Thermal vision if you tried to track them using a jet or a chopper.

"44 Parachute Battalion and Special Forces fought thousands of rebels in the CAR and survived
During the March 2013 attack and subsequent coup by Seleka rebels in the CAR, SANDF soldiers were involved in a rather famous battle in the capital city of Bangui. This much is well-known. What is less well-known, however, is that although 15 soldiers died in the battle, enemy casualty estimates range from a low 600 to a high 2000.
Briefly-captured soldiers reported seeing a warehouse full of bodies soon after the battle. By its end, the paratroopers and Special Forces involved in the Battle of Bangui had fought overwhelming numbers and not only survived, but effectively brought Seleka to the point where the only feasible way of continuing on to the presidential palace was through negotiating a truce with SANDF commanders on the ground."

Go search for the dead bodies yourself im not posting it.

South Africa's burning desire for OPVs and IPVs proves you woke to realize that Nigerian navy was smart to build a powerful patrol force and you dream of copying us now....but you cannot, you invested your money into missile frigates and submarines which have not added any value to your economy or serve any purpose except photography for @THIZA cheesy cheesy

Shaldag speeds up to 50 knts I suppose. Show me proof of your old rust bucket Warrior class boat.

You don't know what pirate interception is, no South African navy boat can catch a pirate once they are 10km ahead of you, Lynx helicopter will fly above the pirate but you cannot stop them unless you fire torpedoe on a civilian vessel cheesy

To intercept high speed pirates you need to catch up side by side, overtake and make it impossible for him to keep sailing .

The Europeans and Israelis that build high speed sea interceptors are not fools, they have more helicopters and OPV than South Africa.

Different equipment are built for different challenges.

South Africa does NOT have a balanced navy, deal with it !
.

Frigates and Subs were purchased when there was no threat from Piracy and to maintain capabilities South Africa has had since our navy was formed

You are right we arent copying you, we are overtaking you with a collossal order for 3 OPV's and 6 IPV's

What proof do you want of the warrior class?

Super Lynx can intercept the Pirates with ease and stop them easily

South African Navy is a Navy
Nigerian Navy is a customs police

Okay in 2013 US sailed around the world in an obsolete ship?

America does not deploy obsolete equipment overseas.

We don't need to drag this thread back, I posted full upgrade and regular modernization of the ships here few few months ago, I won't repeat it.

All American ships in that Hamilton class were stripped of missiles and CIWS many years ago during active service and America used them like that for many years without missiles

The rest of your post is just lies busted before on this forum

Thank Botswana for doing what SANDF failed to do cheesy

Hamilton Class is obsolete and was retired from the USCG

Hamilton Class was not missile armed

Hamilton Class was stripped naked before it was handed over to Nigeria

In South Africa, poaching is on the decrease

In Nigeria, piracy is on the increase

I did my math before I said both are $2 Billion navies.

12 Shaldag, OCEA and Eagle crafts alone cost $100 million.

2 stealth OPVs alone cost about $250 million

2 Endurance cutters Value is about $400 million

We have over 300 new patrol boats various sizes, all brand new.

4 Valour frigates and 3 Heroine submarines cost about $300 million each.

Nigerians think before they talk. Reason why the white man fears us more than they fear you South Africans
.

These numbers and values are ludicrous

Your navy doesn't have basics like :

- High speed high sea interceptors
- Long endurance ocean patrol cutters that can sail around Africa
- Stealth OPV
- Stealth MPV
- Stealth IPV
- LUH helicopters

South African navy will be dribbled and defeated by high speed pirates at sea or on coastline
.

lol, 0/10

Not even worth replying to, apparently everything in the Nigerian Navy is "stealth"

They must really be stealth though, because no one ever sees the Nigerian Navy at sea

I proved my $2 Billion value. You should be honest enough to admit that.

Define blue water navy from dictionary and lets see where NNS centenary, NNS Unity, NNS Thunder and NNS Okpabana will stand after sailing from Lagos to Australia without refuelling, I guess the deep ocean is not blue from Lagos to Australia, it's all brown swamp river water according to South African educational textbooks
.

Blue Water is reliant on the ability to project force

It has nothing to do with the color of the water

Your Hamilton Class are not force projection assets, they have no force to project.

Thus, you are not blue water

Piracy isn't done in Nigerian waters. The seas are militarised. Most attacks this year took place away from Nigerian waters.

Like Nigeria has consistently shown, if the need arises we would buy if we want to.

You wasted money on Frigates, now you're looking to buy OPV's, seeing your dead beat frigates can't undergo long endurance patrols.

The United states military and coast guard regularly upgrades their equipments. In many respects NNS Thunder and NNS Okpobana are more modern ships than your Frigates.

Each both undertook an 8 million dollars up-grade.

What is obsolete is your Sub which spent 7years at the docks. Another predictable South-African waste.

Our Frigates have a range of 15 000km, they can undergo long endurance patrols

Hamilton class is obsolete (hence it was decommissioned) and it was stripped by the americans before they handed it over

Type 209 sub is faaar from obsolete

Can somebody please explain to this M0ron that a jet can be used for surveillance and keeping track keeping track of a target without engaging.

AugustineAgain there are plenty of uses for a jet they are not just used for the sole Purpose of combat, they can be used as an eye in the sky, they can be used to follow targets and help coordinated an attack or rescue without being directly involved.

Dude the fact that you think a jet is only used for combat and that the desert is warm then the human body at night *which is when the girls were kidnapped* just shows how EXTREMELY R3TARDED you are, LOL dude you are a hopeless case of perpetual st*pidity.

The jet or Heli would have been able identify them because it would be a very large convoy moving towards the border, its not like they stayed in Chibok After kidnapping the girls.

NN geared towards Nigeria's threats. Smart Navy, Smart defence procurement.

With the Gripen, you bought fighters you cannot afford. The effects of buying like a "mumu" is more than half the fleet in storage, and only 8 pilots to show after 15 years.

The Mexicans have inquired about the Gripens, I hope Zuma acts intelligently and sells the Mexican airforce the Gripens.

South Africa has no threats, we are geared at self defence.

As the Type 209 showed NATO (and the rest of the world), Naval actions in our waters will be very costly for the agressor

This is a deterrent, same with our stealth frigates

We have the money to have all 26 Grip in the air, but it would be a waste, since we have no enemies, so we operate at minimum operational standards

You want South Africa to sell Gripen because it hurts your feelings that we operate such advanced equipment

The chinese are the 4th largest weapons exporter, deal with that. Turkey, Europe's 6th largest economy and one of NATO's larger partners is buying the HQ-9 ADS.

You cannot afford the Gripens you bought. You could not afford them when you bought them, you cannot afford them now, so why bother buying them?

Found this while browsing the Net.

An opinion piece from a civilian who was given the opportunity to see how the SAAF operates

"My first visit was 85 Squadron (Combat Flying School) were pilots are introduced to jet aircraft and then trained on the Hawk to become fighter pilots. Students at this squadron mainly come from AFB Langebaan where they first completed their initial pilot's training and then passed a selection process to be trained as a fighter. I was extremely impressed by the members of this unit. It is sometimes said that there is no discipline in the defence force today and if I use 85 Squadron as a gauge of measurement, this is as far from the truth as can come. Although discipline in the military is usually a result of pressure, at 85 Squadron it is a result of absolute professionalism and respect for one another."
