2014 BMW 328d xDrive Diesel Sports Wagon
This BMW ahs long-haul capabilities and advantage of its range to go on more long road trips. Overall fuel economy continues to tick upward by tenths of a mile per gallon, although our overall average is still 35 mpg. The styling and practicality of the wagon body remain high points for staffers and their families, and its quirky nature appeals to something deep in our lizard brains. It has huge panoramic sunroof to see the tops of trees, etc.

Energy Saving Tips: For Car-Owners
1 - Keep your car tires properly inflated. Tires that are under-inflated reduce performance and require more gas. Keep them properly inflated to increase your gas mileage.
2 - Maintain your vehicle. Changing your oil and replacing the oil filter will improve fuel economy, and keeping your car well-tuned will help you save about 10 percent more gasoline.

What are the oil change intervals using synthetic oil?
Only Toyota vehicles in which 0w-20 synthetic oil is required have been approved for extended oil change intervals of 10,000-miles/12-months. However, you should continue to check the oil level regularly and top off if needed. That will help your engine get the full benefit of synthetic oil.

3D-printed car the world’s first!
If you had just 44 hours to build an entirely new automobile, from what medium would you choose to build it? Maybe aluminum, steel, carbon fibre, maybe even a throwback to the fibreglass construction of some vehicles from yesteryear. Few of us would suggest 3D printing as the most effective solution, but that's just what has taken place at the recent International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago.

Strati is a fully functional automobile made out of carbon-reinforced ABS plastic. It offers concrete proof that something as large as a car can be produced using additive technology at a deposition rate of approximately 18 kg per hour. Once complete, and the appropriate mechanical and electrical parts are added, you simply drive the electric Strati away as you would a conventionally-built EV automobile. Maximum speed is set at 65 km/h with a current maximum range of 193 km on a single charge.

How to Drive a Moving Truck
No matter which truck rental service you decide to use, the trucks are mostly the same. While these vehicles do not require a special license, they do operate in a significantly different manner than a standard passenger vehicle.
Although your truck rental service will probably provide you with a few tips to better control your vehicle, these massive trucks require quite a lot of care and attention. Here are a few things to keep in mind while driving a moving truck.

Examine the Truck First. Check the parking break, windshield wipers, heater, turn signals and so forth. You don’t want to be scrambling to figure these things out while you’re already on the road.

Back Up Carefully. Whenever you back up, remember that you probably have at least a foot of extra bumper extending beyond the cab itself.

Take Wide Turns. Be sure to give yourself plenty of room to turn or you might just run over the sidewalk – or worse, another car.

Watch Your Head. After all, even the tallest pickups are rarely close to reaching the tops of tunnels and parking garages or the bottoms of bridges.

Keep Your Distance. Always give yourself ample space to slow down and stop.

Stay Slow. Be sure to go particularly slow if there are any dangerous weather conditions such as rain, snow or excess wind. Remember, you might be able to drive in these conditions without a problem in your own car, but you are not used to this type of vehicle, and it is not designed to perform well in adverse conditions.

After the horrible weather last winter, it's hard to look forward for the season to return this year. For those readers in much of the country, the snow is going to be flying soon, and with it comes salt on the roads. That means Ford's regional recall for the 2007-2008 Edge and Lincoln MKX arrives at the perfect time because they are at risk for corrosion.
To fix the issue, dealers will inspect the fuel tank for corrosion and will either replace or repair it, if necessary. Scroll down for the company's full announcement of the recall, including the complete list of affected states and provinces.

When you are selling something, the most important factor is a price!
If you sell a car online, make sure you know the average price on a market -what others are selling similar cars for. However note that each vehicle is unique. No two used cars have the same miles or are in exactly the same condition. This can make it difficult to assign a value. So be careful and do a bit of research when you are posting your car for sale!

Money-saving DIY tip for car owners
Light bulbs. Changing a light bulb isn't difficult—most these days have a twist-and-pull bayonet base or they simply pull out and push in. Bulb specifications are usually found in the owner's manual. However, accessing a bulb (usually called a lamp in industry parlance) can be a real chore. Consult a service manual or look online if access to the bulb isn't obvious. Auto-parts stores and your franchised dealer carry good selections of replacement bulbs. If you're replacing a halogen headlight bulb take care not to touch the glass with your bare fingers. Skin oils on the quartz glass are said to shorten its life.

Determining the Age of a Tire

Determining the age of a tire is an important factor to consider in maintaining the quality and safety of a vehicle. Until a tire shows visible signs of deterioration, most motorists consider it useable. However as tires age, their quality decreases as a result of weather, storage conditions, and usage. In fact, studies have proven that the rubber components in tires have a tendency to dry up after 6 years, even if they have never been used. This deterioration increases the risk of a malfunction such as a flat-tire or blow-out that would decrease the overall operational safety of your vehicle. Although it is impossible to pinpoint an exact expiration date, as a general rule, all tires (even your spare ones) should be replaced after 10 years from the date of manufacture.

The first reason is about minimizing the risk of a “Your word against mine” situation. Camera footage is becoming increasingly accepted for insurance claims and proving liability. Dash Cam footage can absolve you of blame in situations where you would otherwise be at fault. For example, where a case might go to court without footage, the existence of clear footage that apportions blame can create a change of heart that leads to an out-of-court settlement.

10 Tips to Help you Sell More Cars

Tip #1: Stay Away from Negative Salespeople, Huddles, etc!
Tip #2: Use a Great Greeting!
Tip #3: Do a T.O. (Turn Over)!
Let a manager have a crack at a customer before they leave. They might say just the right words. On an average month, I personally close around 5-10 customers for salespeople who did a T.O. (I do F&I and Manage here...)
Tip #4: Test Drive With your Customer!
Tip #5: Trial Close Your Customer After Test Drive
Tip #6: See Tip # 5!!!!!
Tip #6 For Real: Learn Basic Objection Overcoming
Do not use "If I could would you" because you assume price is the only objection.
See my article on how to handle "I want to think about it."
Tip #7: Do Not Rely on Lot Traffic (Only)
I'm not saying stay away from lot traffic. What I am saying that if it is dead, call some prospects and previous customers. Ask for referrals. Talk to service customers.
Tip #8: Cash is King: Ask for Cash Down
Tip #9: Get people to like you!!!
Tip #10: Sell the sizzle, not the steak.
Sell the excitement of owning your car. Sell the vacation they will take with it. Sell the money they will save. Sell how jealous their friends will be when they see it. Sell how professional they will look at work. Sell how happy they will be.

Top Ten Tips To Stay Within The Limit

Many car drivers unintentionally exceed the speed limit, often without realizing it. Modern cars are so powerful and comfortable they give drivers little sensation of their speed. It is too easy to creep above the limit, and in particular, many drivers believe it is difficult to drive a modern car at no more than 30 mph on a road with a 30 mph limit. Drivers are responsible for the speeds at which they choose to drive, but there are some simple and practical things drivers who find it difficult to stay within speed limits can do to help themselves.

1. Check your speedometer regularly, especially when leaving high speed roads
2. Know the limits – look for signs, especially at junctions
3. Assume lamp posts mean 30 mph, until signs say otherwise, but remember it could be 20 mph
4. Remember, speed limits are a maximum, not a target
5. 20’s plenty when kids are about – and may even be too fast
6. Try no higher than 3rd gear in a 30 mph limit
7. Recognise what makes you speed - keeping up with traffic, overtaking or being tailgated
8. Concentrate – distracted drivers speed
9. Slow down when entering villages
10. Give yourself time – there’s no need to speed and you won’t get there quicker

Main Reason of Tyre Problems is Under or Over-inflation
Tyres that are under inflated or over inflated can affect your tyre life, driving comfort, traction and breaking. Under inflation generates excessive flexing of the tyre casing, which results in overheating (mainly in summer), increase of rolling resistance and premature wear. In extreme cases, under inflation can cause tyre damage. Likewise, over inflation can reduce tyre life, reduce grip and create irregular wear.

Money Saving Maintenance Tips:
Oil Changes

Shop around for the best oil change prices, if you don’t do your own oil changes. Check your local flyers (you know, the ones that come in your mail box) for deals. Auto repair facilities offer oil change specials, in order to get to know you, and you might make a new friend; you might not, but at least you will get a good deal on an oil change.

Tires Maintenance

Of course tire rotation is the key to the longevity of your tires. Ideally, your tires should be rotated every six-thousand miles. Depending upon vehicle make and model, rotational patterns will vary but as a rule: rotate drive axle tires from front to rear or vice-versa (straight back or forward) and non-drive wheels should be rotated to the opposite side ( in a crossed pattern). Be very aware of directional tires; always inspect your sidewalls for directional arrows before rotating. Obviously, rotational tires will only be rotated from front to rear, or vice-versa.

A Breathalyzer For Pot is coming soon!
While that's great news for folks with glaucoma and/or the entire Phish catalog, it's creating some headaches for law enforcement. That's because there's no easy way for officers to gauge marijuana impairment like they do drunkenness -- at least not yet. Researchers at Washington State University are trying to change that with devices that analyze breath, much like the breathalyzers commonly used to measure sobriety.

The good news for WSU scientists is that the technology needed to achieve their goals already exists. The spectrometers that can identify THC -- pot's psychoactive element -- in a person's breath are very similar to those used for other things, like spotting explosives at airport screening sites.

The bad news is that the first versions of these weed-sniffing devices won't be very precise. WSU professor Herbert Hill says that they won't be able to determine the amount of THC present in a person's breath; they'll only indicate whether THC is there or not, which could lead police and other law enforcement officials to carry out additional tests.

5 Steps to Repacking Your Trailer Bearings
Step 1: Removal
With the axle raised on a jack, remove the wheel and then the dustcap. The flat head screwdriver will work to take off the dustcap. Next, remove the cotter pin by unbending it and pulling it our with your needle nose pliers. And finally remove the rear bearing.

Step 2: Cleaning
Now it is time to take the seal out of the bearing. There are several ways to do this but we recommend simply prying it out with your flat head screw driver. Once that is out, you can remove the inner bearing as well. Use solvent to clean all the old grease off of the bearings, races, seal and hub surfaces. It’s important that you clean all parts thoroughly!

Step 3: Repacking
Once everything is out and clean, you can do the actual repacking. Do this by putting a glob of fresh grease on your palm and begin working it into the bearing. Make sure that it is fully packed and no gaps remain. It’s also ideal to add another layer of grease around the rollers, on the bearing race surfaces on the hub and the bearing’s faces. Basically, anywhere you can put new grease; do it. Grease= good.

Step 4: Replacing
Once you’re done playing in the grease, tap in a new seal, ensuring that is is even and snug.

Step 5: Assembly
Really, the only thing left is to just put it all back together. Place the drum back on the axle (maybe add yet another glob of grease to it’s face). After the careful placement of the thrust washer and spindle nut, the drum should easily spin on the axle. Insert the new cotter pin and cover with the dustcap. After putting the wheel back in place, you’re done! Well… with that one wheel, anyways.

Why do people wear driving gloves?

Driving gloves wear originally introduced into sports cars and racing cars, to give better grip, but the steering wheels in cars now tend to have a better grip feel to them and have softer materials around them. Now in that ordinary cars we do not require them, but there are still sports steering wheels being manufactured of hard (alloy/wood) which do still require the glove.
