If you had just 44 hours to build an entirely new automobile, from what medium would you choose to build it? Maybe aluminum, steel, carbon fibre, maybe even a throwback to the fibreglass construction of some vehicles from yesteryear. Few of us would suggest 3D printing as the most effective solution, but that's just what has taken place at the recent International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago.

Strati is a fully functional automobile made out of carbon-reinforced ABS plastic. It offers concrete proof that something as large as a car can be produced using additive technology at a deposition rate of approximately 18 kg per hour. Once complete, and the appropriate mechanical and electrical parts are added, you simply drive the electric Strati away as you would a conventionally-built EV automobile. Maximum speed is set at 65 km/h with a current maximum range of 193 km on a single charge.

Top Ten Tips To Stay Within The Limit

Many car drivers unintentionally exceed the speed limit, often without realizing it. Modern cars are so powerful and comfortable they give drivers little sensation of their speed. It is too easy to creep above the limit, and in particular, many drivers believe it is difficult to drive a modern car at no more than 30 mph on a road with a 30 mph limit. Drivers are responsible for the speeds at which they choose to drive, but there are some simple and practical things drivers who find it difficult to stay within speed limits can do to help themselves.

1. Check your speedometer regularly, especially when leaving high speed roads
2. Know the limits – look for signs, especially at junctions

Tires Maintenance

Of course tire rotation is the key to the longevity of your tires. Ideally, your tires should be rotated every six-thousand miles. Depending upon vehicle make and model, rotational patterns will vary but as a rule: rotate drive axle tires from front to rear or vice-versa (straight back or forward) and non-drive wheels should be rotated to the opposite side ( in a crossed pattern). Be very aware of directional tires; always inspect your sidewalls for directional arrows before rotating. Obviously, rotational tires will only be rotated from front to rear, or vice-versa.

5 Steps to Repacking Your Trailer Bearings
Step 1: Removal
With the axle raised on a jack, remove the wheel and then the dustcap. The flat head screwdriver will work to take off the dustcap. Next, remove the cotter pin by unbending it and pulling it our with your needle nose pliers. And finally remove the rear bearing.

Step 2: Cleaning
Now it is time to take the seal out of the bearing. There are several ways to do this but we recommend simply prying it out with your flat head screw driver. Once that is out, you can remove the inner bearing as well. Use solvent to clean all the old grease off of the bearings, races, seal and hub surfaces. It’s important that you clean all parts thoroughly!

Step 3: Repacking
Once everything is out and clean, you can do the actual repacking. Do this by putting a glob of fresh grease on your palm and begin working it into the bearing. Make sure that it is fully packed and no gaps remain. It’s also ideal to add another layer of grease around the rollers, on the bearing race surfaces on the hub and the bearing’s faces. Basically, anywhere you can put new grease; do it. Grease= good.

Step 4: Replacing
Once you’re done playing in the grease, tap in a new seal, ensuring that is is even and snug.

Step 5: Assembly
Really, the only thing left is to just put it all back together. Place the drum back on the axle (maybe add yet another glob of grease to it’s face). After the careful placement of the thrust washer and spindle nut, the drum should easily spin on the axle. Insert the new cotter pin and cover with the dustcap. After putting the wheel back in place, you’re done! Well… with that one wheel, anyways.

Driving gloves wear originally introduced into sports cars and racing cars, to give better grip, but the steering wheels in cars now tend to have a better grip feel to them and have softer materials around them. Now in that ordinary cars we do not require them, but there are still sports steering wheels being manufactured of hard (alloy/wood) which do still require the glove.
