This whole story has a lot of holes. Both the lindaikeji and nta stories. For Linda, the 77 number isn't new at all. She only cherry picked stories and mashed it all up.

The NTA story is another "buffet story", they picked up comments here on nairaland, nefessa's comments to be precise to make their story. The exact same thing naij.com did on their beryl carbine story.

Nobody wants the HK G36C, not even the Germans. The French GIGN have dumped it, while german troops keep complaining about the rifle. It is also very High on maintenance.

Besides the G36 would perform poorly in our climate.

The Barrett is an amazing sniper rifle, but if you ain't looking to bring down a satellite in space, I see no reason for it. The SSG-69 our sniper teams use is a very effective sniper rifle, plus Draganov's have also been added to N.A sniper inventory.

The A.K our police use are called AK-L 74. They are an up-graded 74, no reason why they should change it.

The Kris is another over-rated weapon. The P90's are the perfect PDM's. They house more rounds the older MP5 and they basically shoot the same 9mm round.

Battle-Rifles full a different role to assault rifles.

Modern doctrine is calling for smaller more controllable weapons, hence why the americans are using mainly M4's these days

The 7.62 fits the operations the N.A would engage and continue to be engaged in, for the foreseeable future. Although I love the Tavor-21, i've seen and talked to officers who prefer the FN FAL to the Tavor they get issued with. A particular officer said, he needs to put in 5 rounds to be sure an insurgent is dead, but with the FN FAL, just a single round, he moves on.

Again, Economics, if you have 2 production lines recently installed for the 7.62mm, it makes no sense going for the 5.56.

Plus the Fore-grip and sights would significantly improve accuracy.

Doubt it will be an army wide replacement, just a more refined and versatile AK for specialized units.

You mentioned NTA,linda,Naija whatever but u fail to mention global security.org which I gave a link for records r those ones made up stories av known global security for years iTs far better than d wikipedia !
If u check that link all hardware mentioned r the exac numbers of deliveries taken by d army and airforce btwn 1998 and 2008 except the hinds and T-77. Excet for d the helo variants and T-77 that r just being delivered and de same numbers r excepted too.

weapons aquisitions is not like buying puff puff in the market.

as long as it's a government to government transaction, we will have to be patient because a lot of conditions will need to be sorted and agreed on in terms of payment among other things. so, patience my man.

when i was travelling yesteray, i saw officials of the NDLEA with a very beautiful gun the army doesn't even use! What is the name of that gun, if you all have seen it? It is longer than all the other guns carried by our security men. It looks polished also.

We would have to be patient man, the contracts haven't even been signed yet. We aren't getting any Subs, not yet. The model given to PEJ was just a sign of friendship, and probably to keep options open.
