Have any of u been to nanka to be precise?
I have. D people of one village there(amakor nanka) has to construct a new road bc of what deep gully erosion has don to d only road leading to their village.
So far govt has done absolutely nothing to stop d erosion rampage on that community. They will only come with their camera and press people, promise heaven and earth and it ends there.
Its d igbo spirit that made those people continue to struggle and fight for their lives else,
Least I forget, ekwueme house is close to d erosion sight in oko.

I'm using this platform to appeal to those in charge to do something for these people.
D greatest mistake I made was not snaping pictures though I was afraid, the place makes one feel dizzy and sway.

Are there no nanka,oko ogbu,agulu people here?
Can't u guys advocate for ur various towns?
Go and snap pictures and litter them on social media, that way I'm sure the message will be delivered faster.

If there is a shortfall in d development of ur town or u see where things r not done well in ur area, open up and talk about it, picture too if u can.
These r what we need, d good, bad and ugly sides of anambra state.

Erosion project is a federal govt project. Even the ones in my town uga and ekwulobia has been worked and it has since disappeared. Though I have not seen that of agulu, nanka and oko. Erosion is something that affects most southern states.

But u have more to worry about ur state? Go to ur state thread and complain about myriads of problems bedeviling your state. You have not gone there to cry out of bitterness and frustration the way u camp here everyday dying in envy and bitterness.

World Bank Earmarks N95bn For Erosion Control In Anambra
The World Bank has earmarked N94.5 billion for erosion control projects in Anambra State.


The Bank Task Team leader, Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project – NewMap, Dr. Amos Abu disclosed this during a courtesy call on Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State at the Government House, Awka, Friday.


He said the State had already paid its counterpart contribution of N500 million and approved four sites for the intervention.


Abu said Anambra State was one of the seven states selected for the erosion control projects approved in September last year.


He explained that the Bank was equally planning to intervene on major erosion sites of Agulu, Nanka, Oko, Ekwulobia and Nnewi South local government areas of the state, depending on priority sites selected by the State government and approved by the Technical Committee of the Bank in the next phase of the project.


The Work Bank Task Leader lamented that over 80 per cent of gully erosion sites were caused by poorly terminated drains resulting from road construction and disclosed that a retreat for federal and state governments would be convened to check the dangerous practice and key into global best practices.


Responding, Governor Obiano said the State had selected six more erosion sites for World Bank intervention, bringing the number of sites to ten and assured that his administration was ready to increase the State’s counterpart contribution to carry the new projects.


Obiano explained that the necessary structure had also been put in place to promote transparency and accountability in the State’s collaboration with the Bank.


He further revealed that the Ministry of Environment had been directed to conduct fresh numeration of erosion sites in the State to give an update on new sites, while sand excavation in all parts of the State had been banned to determine its contribution in aggravating erosion devastation.

If you go to Borno or Adamawa or watch any of boko haram videos, you will notice that all the roads are lined up with trees, it is the same in many parts of the north.
Those trees were planted to reduce and reverse the effects of desertification, such a method will also work for erosion.
State governments should take matters into their hands and stop waiting for the FG.

Oga,slow your role because it hasnt gotten to that. Oneeast is a very informed individual.
Erosion menace is a natural occurrence just like crude oil is a natural occurrence. I believe it should be the federal government prerogative ,however,the state has a role to play and even the the communities where this erosion is happening. Peter Obi did alot of erosion control work during his tenure but we know the problem is capital intensive and the state cant handle it alone. Yea,there is alot of work to be done but one good thing is that we know it and we are talking about it. A problem shared is a problem solved.

There is an issue concerning That Land called Ozubulu Industrial Layout which Obiano needs to come quickly to settle with the Land Owners!. This issue have delayed the project!. The govt should at least give some percentage of the company share to The Land Owners!.South Africans,Anambra-State, Peter Obi's Next & Bishop Okonkwo's Ekulo group are The major share holders leaving The Land Owners Who donated the whole Ozubulu Industrial Layout with nothing!.

Peter obi that didn't do anything during his tenure, even the erosion at his backyard in agulu was busy using state funds to buy up shares for himself in most companies. Obiano should quickly move in and confisticate his shares in the company like he did for onitsha mall, if not I support the land owners not to accept giving their lands unless those involved pay through their nose. its called karma
