Because not everyone likes to fly in Nigeria. I personally don't when I visit

The woman has no sense at all. Ask me why.

1). She refused to transfer the money to her account in Nigeria before coming.

2). She refused to board a plane from Lags to Enugu then proceed to her village in Anambra.

3). She refused to put the money and her passport inside her hand bag and carry it by herself.

THAT IS A BIG LESSON FOR OTHERS TO LEARN.

Sorry about happened anyway. Pele, ndo o?

Statistically, it is 1,000 times more dangerous travelling by road than flying in Nigeria. So I've no idea where you're going with that. If you think you're being smart, you're not.

Am rilly pity for the woman. But that's the biggest mistake of her life she has ever done. And a lesson to all the ladies. This is the kind of thing you get when your hand bag is full of cosmetic makeups.
Anyway common sense is not so common this days cry
I believe God has a better plans for her in naija. And as much, she should not fail to vote in for a new president in Feb 2015.

It is very sad when pathetic comments are made unwittingly. Fact: there has been not much flight for quite a few days. However, diasporans are scared of 'flying' in Nigeria airspace. Fact: about 25% of the exodus in the past days to the east has been diasporans. Fact: US situation report/advice encourages people to desist from carrying any large sums in their hand bags or holdalls. Fact: most diasporans prefer to carry dollars/euros/sterling because of the fear falling victim to faceless money changers in Lagos. Fact: it takes more than two months to process US stolen passport if you have supporting documents/evidence. Fact: she followed the correct procedure, but tiredness could have reduced her cognitive capabilities. Fact: This is not the first one to happen at Maza Maza this season. Fact: most Lagos drivers prefer to take travellers to Maza maza to inflate their fares Instead of Jibowu, which in any case is full of thieves. There are more sadder stories at Jibowu than Maza Maza.

May Karma catch up with the thief soon, but these I just got backs (IJGBs), what makes them contemplate taking the long journey to the east by road. It is dangerous and flight is not that expensive.

She can indeed return to the US.

A bit of inconvenience and fees and time.

I'll never fly on a local flight inside Nigeria.

I also enjoy seeing the scenery and landscape as I travel on the ground.

How do you know she refused to do all these things?

1) You need an account in Nigeria first before you can transfer money into it, maybe she doesn't have one yet. (For other diasporans, please please open a bank account at any of the banks and you can use RiaMoneyTransfer to fund it from the US at least - you don;t need a third party, the money will go in directly).

2) She just got off an 11 flight at least, maybe she is tired of flying, doesn't like flying in Nigeria like me.

3) I cannot debate this with you. That was very silly but still the thief had no right to do this. He's a coward because he should go and rob a bullion van instead.

Bro, many many folks come in from overseas and ply the expressway to the east or wherever. MANY. Guys like to see/experience the Naija terrain after a long stay abroad, which cannot be captured by air travel. Can you stop in mid-air to buy roasted corn, banana, or suya?
Well done Bros.

The best part of my trip is not LAX to LOS, it's from Lagos to Ibadan by road.

You can't really blame her here. We can all talk now because of the incident that befell her

1)Transferring her money directly to a Nigerian account would attract some transfer charges and have a lower rate compared with black market . Blackmarket exchange rate is higher so she probably thought she'd save and have more money (could be as high as 200,000naira).
Obviously, she would never have envisaged this unfortunate incident .
Besides, I think there are some complicated formalities that accompany the transfer of funds of that worth.

2)She probably wanted a landscape view and appreciate the scenery on her local trip which an airplane would not gratify. I concur that it was risky but she would again not have imagined this.

3)I guess she kept those documents in her luggage cuz she saw it as the safest place. Let's be real, it is more common to be robbed of a hand bag than a luggage.
She must have thought no one would suspect she had valuables in her luggage. Just like many people think it was extremely silly of her to keep the money there, she must have thought the same and used that to her advantage which unfortunately turned out to be a bigger mistake.

I can bet that if the woman leaves Nigeria, she would not step foot back in the country.

I really pity her. It's sad.
