The woman messed up.Even if it is not Nigeria, why must she keep her money and her travel documents in a luggage that she is not having herself. She allowed someone to carry a bag containing her money and her travel document goes to show that she is not smart at all. The first thing for any right thinking individual is to place your travel document and money safe where you can just hold. What stops her putting it in her pocket or handbag she is having. Too bad for her.

Even in JFK, you dont just go pick any Taxi as most of the blacks there can rob you off. You got to be careful anywhere you go to, not only in Nigeria. Her travel document supposed to be with her.Or did she not tell any of her people down here that she was coming so that they wait on her to pick her up.Just cant understand the kind of person she is.

Why cant she pick a local flight to her state from the airport? I believe she is a stingy person and would not wanna spend money on local flight and believed that she can save money by taking a bus. She stopped at that airport and took a taxi all the way from the Airport to Maza Maza of all people. Too bad bad for her.

I think there is more to this black news. How can someone who base in LA, USA land in naija and go to take a local bus....most ppl i know flies to the east and proceed to there home town. Well mayb she has been away too long to recal that the nickname of Nigeria is Naija.

Nigeria or not.....handbag or no handbag ....it is common sense that you carry your money and documents. Too bad.....don't think she can return without her green card.

I do agree with everything you say but this part is not true. You don't have option to choose taxi...you go with the next taxi in line. The Blacks that do illegal taxi have to be secretive .....do you know or heard of anyone or have you ever seen any report of them ever robbing their passengers? In fact many people be looking to find them because they charge less so why help give the impression that Blacks in the US are like all criminals? Modify your post bro....leave that one out.

Please let's stop this bad-mouthing of Nigeria. It has nothing to do with Nigeria being bad or good. This kind of thing happens in any crowded subway station in large cities around the world. If you are careless and dont keep your wits, you can lose your shirt. Period.

I feel sorry for the lady. She should visit the US consulate immediately at Walter Carrington road, Victoria Island and lodge a complaint. She will be issued travel documents to enable her return to the US. If she will stay in Nigeria for up to 2 weeks, she can be issued a new US passport.

But, I have a little question. How can a Nigerian living in the US chose to go through the needless hassle of travelling by bus to the East, when she could fly in safety and comfort to either Owerri or Enugu? If she is from Anambra, she can fly to Asaba.
my thought too tho...

What a sad news.

but that woman sha, whatever happened to her handbag. I ve not heard of such, everybody i know always have their money and travel documents inside their hand bags.
had it been her travel documents were with her, probably she had a return ticket. (If na me na to go back i no do xmas 4 naija again.)
Some travelers do not fancy putting their money in their carry-on bag or hand-bag for the simple reason that people often expect travelers to have money in their hand-bags thus making it a target: The money and the documents are actually safer where she had put them in, she was just not vigilant enough or she was just unlucky

Why would she travel with $8,000 cash to the Village....does it make sense? why not deposit it in the bank and travel with @ least N50K cash?
Not everybody who has that much time to do these transactions in Lagos, many people just arrive and want to leave for their home-town or village immidiately

Yea same question i asked. As per the money, probably she was scared, but her travel documents inside her luggage? That's ridiculous.
Where would you suggest she put it?

Her handbag. All †̥H̲̣̣̣̥ǝ̥̥ ladies ℓ know, they always have their raw cash, travel ducuments áΩ̶̣̣̥̇̊∂ naira inside their handbag. Even if she was scared of keeping her money inside her handbag, her travel documents serves as an id and every rational human does not hide his/her id.

She wasn't unlucky its carelessness.
knowing fully well she kept her valuables inside her luggage is she suppose to give it to someone? She was so careless, and whatever happened to her family members, someone should have been @ the airport to wait for her.

As per transfer money to your account in Nigeria from USA, Western union and money gram exclude Nigeria from
that service. You can do it to other countries but not Nigeria because of the fraud rate.

This is sad. Its always wiser to move around with a Visa, MasterCard instead of cash, you will never know what can happen.
