Ironsi established the unitary system out of political ignorance that people like Ojukwu criticized him that Nigeria is not a military parade ground.

But Awo encouraged Gowon to retain(keep) and strengthened the unitary system.

In 1969 the petroleum act was decreed making any oil found in any part of Nigeria , FG property

What was Awo's stand on that act.?

After the war, did Awo insist on reversal of that decree.?

Guy, stop confusing urself. AT NO TIME UNDER GOWON WAS NIGERIA UNDER A UNITARY SYSTEM. d ONLY time in nigerian history when d country was under a UNITARY SYSTEM WAS UNDER IRONSI. On assumption of power, Ironsi promulgated Decree 34 of 1966, which abrogated d federal system & substituted it wit a unitary system.
Gowon abrogated Ironsi's decree 34 & divided d country into 12 states. Pls get ur facts right

this @sheggy13 ehn
A thread about a Governor not been able to pay salaries which is also commonplace with governors from other regions was hijacked and turned into a SW bashing thread. It's really nauseating to see the kind of hatred this people have for Yorubas and it's very dangerous living amongst people that detest you with passion and not know it. Nairaland has really been an eye opener for me in this regard. I never knew the hatred has reached this irreparable proportion until I joined nairaland. They think they have the monopoly of bashing other tribes. Anyways people like me are here to put them in their place. I've taken it upon myself.

Fayose has paid (his claim) for October, November and December.

http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/173833-fayose-slams-fayemi-ekiti-finances-says-no-september-salary-workers.html

The Nation is playing politics of falsehood by deliberately leaving this important section, highlighted above, in its reporting. Well, Fayose is a thug but he is also a good politician.

So what is this news now all about? he should pay September too na or why leave the oldest to pay the youngest?

Well said.

The man is incompetent just like his president and the rest his PDP pose all over the country. The same load was there under Fayemi and Fayemi still did not miss a single payment while in office, but we now have a joker in office coming up with dram and silly excuses...

He obviously thought fooling people with his rice and chicken was enough distraction to make them forget about their salaries...

I have to commend you greatly for standing your ground, it is not an easy thing to do in the midst of a semi-literate, ignorant bunch. Even with enough evidence provided as to why Fayose should pay the salary owed, some of them like the poster above (kenex) will still come here to demonstrate their ignorance and gullibility.

1. That's a lie. Fayose (who knows better than you) said two, not three months. Even, if that was the case, why did Fayose pay those months but leave September unpaid? What's so special about September, why not August?

2.Why did Fayose find it convenient to repudiate some policies initiated in September but unwilling to pay September salary? Why is he blowing hot and cold simultaneously?

3.The workers are working for Ekiti State government. Aren't they? We can play politics with the names of who is/was in charge but the real thing is simple: Ekiti state is owning workers September salary.

people will not truly understand the style of governance under APC governments in the southwest . its more like a cult like thing with so many secrets. They milk the treasury. I implore every interested fellow to Google out debt burden of the south western states. Osun owes over 110b, Ekiti owes over 40b, ogun state owes over 30 b naira while lagos debt burden stands at half a billion dollars. The most annoying thing is that they award contracts in such a way as to further place their subjects under slavery and servitude. most contract are awarded on a contractor- financing system. A situation whereby the contractor undertakes to finance the project with a proviso interest regime far higher than what the commercial banks take. The so contract go to the likes of tinubu5, Aregbesola and Co. They also operate a pyramidical financial system that is bound to collapse at any moment. that is y they want the federal power at all cost in order to save face from the impending financial doom across the states under their jurisdiction. This is tinubu ' s game plan.

What are the roles of Auditor general of state and house of assembly members? Who is advising these governors on loans and bonds to the extent the past governor left liability into incoming governor's hands.

Let the Chief Justice instigate a case against him. Sell all his properties and use it to offset cost. Rubbish!

“We want Ekiti people to know the deceit of Governor Fayose, who has been in the media painting Fayemi black that he owed Ekiti workers two months’ salary.

“Technically speaking, Dr. Fayemi did not owe any salary. If, as alleged, his administration owed September salary and he left government on October 15, while the allocation for the same September was received by Fayose, then commonsense requires that the incumbent pays the workers September salary with September allocation, while anticipating October allocation.

“It is on record that Fayemi, in his four years, didn’t owe any worker salary until Fayose emerged Governor-Elect and harassed banks not to transact business with the then outgoing Fayemi administration.

governance is not the way they make the lay man see it. I will tell u that there is one thing we cannot take a way from Jonathan ' s administration and that is freedom of speech and association. Under APC governments, it will never be so.
to state categorically with examples, most states in nigeria are not self sufficient. yet, the politicians live in affluence. most especially, the APC states. They live on federal government allocations as well as loans from financial institutions. from these monies, they steal over 70% in order to perpetuate themselves in office. Unfortunately for Fayemi in Ekiti, PDP won the last election and that was what brought out the secrets. I can also boldly talk of Osun where a state that barely produces anything has as debt burden of over 120b. It was 9b under the last PDP government. that is part of the reason y these states cannot afford to pay salaries. There are also other intervention areas of partnership among the 3 levels of governance federal, State and local. The state governments in the southwest cornered substantial portion of these funds such that some health workers that are supposed to have been paid for the past 10 months are yet to be paid.

Many states have debts/bonds just like Ekiti under Fayemi, but Fayemi paid every month come rain or sunshine unfailingly so of what's the meaning of Fayose's silly excuses?

Was he dishing out the same dumb excuses when he was dashing away free gifts or whatever dumb and idiotic stomach infrastructure theatrics with pictures?

Why skip September and pay November instead and also the money for November came from where? From thin air?

The state workers he paid in November were not state workers in September? Obviously, it's the same thoughtless vindictive mentality that government starts from my own inauguration and everything before me must be abandoned and discontinued even state government worker's salaries..

Even if it's Fayemi's fault, was Fayose not elected to do better than Fayemi? Was he not elected to make things right?

This is the same reason they abandon state projects started by their predecessors..

Useless and worthless people with zero sense of duty and dedication...

I marvel at the ease with which we analyze & criticize!
And how we have perfect but skewed view of matters.
Bottom line is you can't hold Fayose for JKF's infraction.
