We have this tradition of going to the cinemas every holidays,she has been the one sponsoring most of our outings and this time I promise to take responsibility
The truth is earlier this month I was able to seal some deals and raised upto 30k for this festive period. To treat her to a nice time and to show appreciation for her being there for me all this while but I lost everything in my last deal.
She was filled with expectation but I was only left with 3k.
I dint want to disappoint her or tell her am broke again as usual. She insist on me making her happy. We got to cinema and I was told that a ticket is 1500. I already spent 300 for transportation. And am left with 2700.
I couldn't afford 3k for both our tickets.so I tested her by offering to pay for her alone while I wait outside.
To my greatest suprise she agreed and went in alone.I intentionally chose the movie " a fault in our stars "for her to make her remorseful and have a change of attitude and timed myself as I waited outside.
As I wait,I thought of leaving her there as a payback for her lack of human sympathy but I could not.
She soon finished and came out.we left the cinema as if nothing happened .
As I lay on my bed now and reflect on the days happenings, I can't help but as you my fellow nairalanders what you think of this girl and your advice for my relationship.

How dare you call her "heartless". With the way this country is, and the way 9ja babes are, you better be grateful u got a girl still riding with a guy like you. Need I remind you that there are men who are building houses, buying cars etc.. for their women. I don't mean to be rude o but be grateful that's all.

Imagine buying movie ticket for the poor girl and allowed her go in without snacks and drinks and you still have the guts to call her heartless. OP, She has been sponsoring your previous outings and the only time it was your turn to take charge, you decided to 'test' her instead. If you wanted to appreciate her, why didn't you just go ahead and appreciate her instead of turning it some kind of test. How would you have felt if she had turned all her previous gestures into 'tests'. And you call her heartless.... let me tell you that you have a decent girl who acted in the most appropriate manner or would you have preferred she had made a fuss or decided then and there that she had had enough and walked out.

My advise
1. Whenever you want to take your girl for a nice treat, do just that.

2. Manage your finances and plan ahead. You made 30k and decided to risk it all when you should have set aside 4k for the outing.

If you continue 'testing' her to cover up your inadequacies, she will likely leave you for someone who will appreciate her.

The last two years in our versity days was all on me. Housing feeding etc
After that I ran around to make sure she got the job she has now. I coudnt do thesame for myself cos am not into the banking industry.
Now she working and am still searching and I know soonest God will make a way.

Long and short of the story, let's gang up and heap insults on the heartless girl. So you sponsored her through school and got a job for her but you conveniently left that out of your opening post. How come you couldn't use your connections to get a job for yourself? Any degree can work in a bank these days. Besides, if she does not merit the job, your connections couldn't have taken her so far.
Now there are other fun stuff you both could have done together for the holidays without having to break the bank but you felt you had to test her. She must have felt you were not interested in the movie anymore. Find other ways to test her loyalty man. I pray God pave a way in your career and finances next year.
