I didn't quite know what to title this thread, so pardon me if the topic seems a bit off. I am not married... hopefully soon, but not yet. There are many things that fascinate me about marriage, one of them is the shared pregnancy phase between couples.I put shared because quite frankly, if a wife is pregnant, the man is also "pregnant" and nothing supports this notion more than the "cravings-phase" of a woman's pregnancy.

This thread is open to everyone who has had one experience or the other with queer [Pregnancy phase] cravings, whether you're married or not, as long as you've been pregnant or know someone who has been pregnant...This thread is open.

I have heard a number of such stories and how the husband had to go through the "seven seas" just to get his woman what she craved for.

Some months ago, my Pastor was telling us about how his pregnant wife woke him up in the middle of the night and was like "Honey, I want to eat roasted corn"

A friend of mine told me about how one of her pregnant friends woke up in the dead of night, requesting for chilled Fanta.

A couple was telling a friend of mine about their own experience - It was around 3am, the man and his pregnant wife were "supposedly" sleeping. Somehow the man noticed from his sleep that there was this noise, somewhat crunchy noise coming from very close to his pillow, when he opened his eyes and turned around, he saw his wife with a tin of Bournvita, using her bare hand to take heavy scoops room the tin to chew, hence the "kreww kreww" sound he was hearing, you know how crunchy Bournvita is.

This is a very light hearted thread.

So come in and share yours, let's have a Laugh and celebrate pregnant women while we are at it

Ayamu not prengies, but I know someone in my final year in the university who got ditched by her sugar boo because she refused to abort when he found out she was in the family way.

The girl would lie in her bed and complain that she wanted meat pies and coke, or she craved for ice cream. However, since she was broke and alone, when those cravings started, she would get up and cook indomie and pepper. Sometimes at 3.00 am she would get up and start cooking the indomie. At all at all na hin bad pass. sad

Same with me ishilove.i can wake up 3am and feel like eating beans. If I don't eat it I won't be able to sleep. In the morning I might feel like eating rice. When it gets ready I'll loose my appetite

at all at all na hin bad pass true true gringrin

Indomie and pepper though embarassed

I can imagine how frustrating it was for her, because when cravings like that happen, it takes only the things being craved for to actually satisfy the cravings(I stand to be corrected though) .... I wouldn't be surprised if the baby she gave birth to came out having red hair...unto say too much of pepper tinzgringrin. The baby go be like red indian

So happy to see this thread. Someone once opened a thread like this and it was very hilarious.

Please let's keep the stories coming. Unfortunately, I had absolutely no cravings when I was preggers. In fact, it was an extremely uneventful pregnancy.

But my mom told me that during one of her pregnancies, she was craving palm wine so she was stylishly passing a joint where it is sold. She said the way she was eyeing the mugs of palmy, one old man called her in and offered her a mug reassuring her that she had nothing to be ashamed of and that it was the baby in the womb that needed a drink. She then proceeded the guzzle the large mug of palm wine like her life depended on it.

Another time, she said it was peppered rice she saw a mobile food vendor selling to the mechanics when she took her car for repairs. She sharpally bought some, but was too ashamed to eat it in front of the mechanics, but she didn't want popsy to see it either. So, on her way home, she just parked at the side of the road and wolfed the whole thing down.

Native chalk. The craving for it for ALL of my pregnancies was so bad, it nearly drove me crazy.

I did manage to coax my nan (God bless her soul) into giving me some when we travelled back to Naija during my first pregnancy. When we got back, where did I hide my stash? On top of our wardrobe, within full view. Didn't take long before hubby found out & got rid of them. cry

My midwife didn't help matters either by telling me that the mercury content in them was harmful to the unborn baby. #sigh#

So I had to improvise. Really dry, plain, unsalted rice cakes. Hubby & kids complained a lot that the whole house smelt like a pharmacy! grin grin Well,at least these were harmless cravings.

Other weird desires: you know that smell you get from the tarred road, just after it's rained on a very hot day? Ahhh... I always just wanted to lay on the ground and lick the street!

Also had this odd desire for crunching ice cubes, even in the dead of winter. Oh, and yam porridge with plantains was another favourite craving of mine. smiley

Nice thread.

My first pregnancy wasn't funny at all o, spent first 3 months at the hospital. In that 3 months I dare not talk to anyone in the morning before I brushed my teeth,I would vomit the whole day. I onece asked my mum if I can just vomit the baby out to relieve me off the stress.

Very early in the morning I would mix a whole jug of water with a spoon of milo and take it one spoon after few minutes interval to help with the taste in my mouth. I couldn't eat much in the first 3 months cause I was really sick and vomited a lot.

After 3 months was OMG, I got a lot of energy and would do so many things. I would walk when I was supposed to take bike, I would at the bustop waiting for cheap ridiculous buses, not that I dint have enough on me oo. Lol

My cravings oo, after each anti natal visit,I go to a road side shed and order for a plate of abula( amala, gbegiri and ewedu) then top it with a bowl of ice cream. I will be so tire when I get home cause of intentional long stay waiting for bus. I just lie naked and direct the ac straight to my head.

Oh I loved boiled corn with chilled coke, I could eat over 400 naira worth at a go. Infact I begged a stranger in a public transport for boiled corn.the woman wasn't surprised, she just handed over. You needed to see how I rushed the corn like I had been starved for years,I was so happy. I had hungrily watched the woman eat her corn jejely until it got to the last piece,I couldn't bear it anymore I wanted to cry I just had to open up and beg for the corn.

Then my crave for ofada rice was something else, I could go up to 1 or 2 hour drive to get it o,with all this lagos traffic. Where ever I go, once I site it I will stop and buy oo and do take away, I even tell my hubby to get for me on his way,I will describe to him where to get it and call him to remind him so he doesn't come home telling me forgot and drove pass.

Another craving of mine was stewed snail or with vegetable,I would finished a whole pot sitting on the bare floor in just rapper alone. Then cat fish pepper soup. Ha God bless my hubby, he over tried sef.

Second pregnancy,no sickness but vomit, cravings too but more energy and experience.

Preggy is great fun. When you see your baby, nothing on earth can be compared to that joy.

*Modified* forgot to add that I hated the smell of ward rope? Chai OMG once I open a closet filled with clothes, off I go vomiting. So I just cover my nose when picking clothes to wear.

I tell you bro, I silently with my mouth watery watched her eat the first, second then the 3rd. She had almost eaten upto half way when I voiced out o,I was at the verge of crying but the corn gave me so much relief after eating it.

To thing the woman sef wasn't so neat and sweaty, very obvious she was coming from market but who cares anyway?the corn in her hands was a life saver.

@taryour, your account is so real smiley wink well done

I had to travel back home to get my mom's ogbono soup with local seasoning(called okpehe in idoma) to store in the freezer for the future, mind you it was a 6 hour trip o! After eating it twice I couldnt stand the sight or smell sad

I couldnt stand the sight of raw egg or tomatoes cooking. For 4 months I couldnt eat any stew. Ate white rice with peppersoup hmm what mothers go through eh!

After a while it was kpekere(unripe fried plantain) and that lasted for about 3 weeks! Then it was mangos of a particular specie! I could pay a fortune for that!

Funny experiences,lol.

The cravings is termed ''pica''
Unless the substances craved for are potentially dangerous, there's nothing wrong in it.

I've heard of those that crave for that ammonia smell from the toilet eewwwww #yuck!
Some even lick walls or charcoal.

Hmmm
GOD BLESS WOMEN!!!
