if fit, falcao should play every game. at least, he gets into good positions and he shoots on target more often than our regular strikers. it will take time before his team mates understand his movements & runs. i trust him more to terrorise opposition's defence than RVP, rooney or wilson.
I don`t know why he`s using 500 minutes to judge a player who is just coming back from injuries, in a new team and in the toughest league. We all know that he`s not 100% fit yet. And he needs regular playing time to gain full fitness and to understand his team mates. I`m sure if he were to be our coach, RVP will be sitting on the bench now. So also he would`ve discarded DDG in the first half of his first season.
Falcao needs time.

this is a witch-hunt
the elephant in the room is rooney. he missed the best chance in the game
May be we will need gif for all the missed chances. RVP missed chance is actually the worst. He didnt need to touch the ball twice after he had successfully brought it down within himself.

Remember too, RVP missed 2 or 3. Falcao missed 2. They were the strikers.

coogar:
his only attempt on target throughout the game and he created nothing for 90 mins.
Rooney played deeper than the other guys. He operated deep, and it was fair considering we had 3 men operating in attacking zone.

SailorXY:
yes we should.

its a case of being opportuned to test-drive before paying for a ride & sometimes that liberty helps you make wrong choices.
Exactly..

However, in this scenario, the opportunity to test drive falls under this loan spell of his. Why then should we spend 43m on a machine that, for some unfortunate reasons didn't match our requirements and expectations during the test drive?

SailorXY:
let's assume we test-drove Vidic for some months, will you pay two cents to keep him permanently? I don't think so, & truthfully nobody will blame ya @ the time.
Vidic was an unknown 7m rookie scouted from the Serbian league. If he didn't do well, it woulda even been easier for the club to dispense with him without much ado.

SailorXY:
the EPL can be a difficult place to adapt even for the most skilled players, & if we are to be honest to ourselves, Falcao has not been poor; except of course you want to factor his injuries - but even then, take a look @ the whole squad.
That's exactly the point...

Adapting to the rigors of the epl is always gonna be difficult even for top players who have been in top form. It's definitely gonna be worse for a 29year old (ignoring the age falsification scandal) struggling for form, fitness and injury issues. Why then should we go ahead to pay big money for such a player who failed to put these demons behind him, considering the fact that we were even lucky to get a "test-drive"?

Honestly, It's my wish to see him excel during this loan spell of his but if he continues to put in uninspiring shifts like we saw today, we may have to look elsewhere during the summer.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m):
1 De Gea
The Spaniard was solid when called upon but never truly tested by Spurs.

P. Jones 4
Did well on the whole. Good anticipation and strength.

P. McNair 33
The youngster looked nervy buy was well protected by the rest of the United defence.

J. Evans 6
A couple of shaky moments up against Kane before he was replaced by Smalling in the 72nd minute.

A. Valencia 25
Provided width and defended well before being replaced due to injury at half-time.

M. Carrick 16
Controlled the tempo of the game as he sat in front of United's back four. Classy passing.

A. Young 18
Lucky to get away with foul on Townsend in the second half but dangerous on the ball with his pace and crossing ability. Forced a fine save from Lloris in the first half.

W. Rooney 10
The United captain was particularly influential in the first half as he picked the ball up in deep positions and started United attacks.

R. van Persie 20
Missed the best chance of the game when he tried to round Lloris rather than shoot early. Some good link-up play.

R. Falcao 9
Worked hard and produced some good movement, but the Colombian's finishing was tame when he had clear chances to score.

Mata 8
Dangerous in the final third as he picked up possession between the lines. Hit the post with a first-half free kick and produced a fine pass to set up Van Persie for a great chance, but did blaze over from a good position.

You guys are funny and living on hope. The hope that the Falcao deal will not end as a fiasco.
If Falcao was as lethal as he ised to be would Monaco loan him out to United?
This guy has been living on past glory and past reputation.
He has used that past reputation to engineer this loan move to United.
I bet Van Gaal jas seen through him but just has to playhim because of the money involved, quite similar to the Brown Ideye situation at WBA.

his first touch was inside box-6, he was too close to the goalie and lloris ain't a slouch. rooney's chance was at the edge of the box with the goalie to beat.......how did rooney's control took the ball backwards? grin

they all missed chances but rooney's chance was the most glaring, the easiest to finish. it's a disgrace he squandered that good ball from carrick.

rooney didn't play deeper than carrick, rafael, valencia, etc. how did they manage to create more chances on the day than rooney?

Well since you didnt give us gif, no need.

However, do you know Man United created 15 chances at Villa Park. From 6 players. And Mata produced nil? That's how it can happen. We over depend on stats from goals, assists and key passes. We see these matches and overall contribution of our players.

Four of these players who created key passes at Villa park played behind Mata. (Rooney 3 key passes, Young 3, Valencia 2 and Carrick 2 )

We loaned out Chicharito to make way for this has been called Falcao. Thats the plain truth.

so you need gif to acknowledge rooney has the poorest first touch in our entire squad? rooney timed his run perfectly to beat the offside trap set by spurs.......with a better first touch, he would have scored an easy goal.

what has the villa game gotta do with rooney's poor performance today? the discussion is about today's game not the villa game. you have not answered why rooney's first touch took the ball further away from lloris? is it juju? grin

7 min: Juan Mata plays a deft pass over the Spurs defence. Rooney’s run is perfectly timed to beat the offside trap, but his attempt to bring the ball down is poor. He’s forced to check his run, allowing various Tottenham defenders to regroup and crowd Radamel Falcao off the ball when it’s finally passed his way from the boot of Rooney.

Most reports and highlights don't even have Rooney's case in their reports.

How was Rooney poor? Rooney did okay. Very okay.

Already got in bed before I saw this.

This is meaningless. Rooney did very okay and was rated only behind Mata by many pundits. He was a deep pllayer and he did his job well.

Can we see similar stat for RVP, a striker?

you have a problem with logic.
your excuse for rooney's poor performance was that he operated from a deep position. so i brought out carrick's stat from the same position to destroy your flawed theory that one cannot be creative from a deep position.

how come rooney's deep position wasn't a hindrance against newcastle? if carrick could complete more passes in the final third than rooney in a game both of them completed, then your theory is flawed.

QED!!!

Louis van Gaal is keen to bring Inter Milan flop Nemanja Vidic back to Old Trafford.

The Daily Star Sunday saysclaim the Serbian defender left Old Trafford in the summer but has been DUMPED onto the transfer list by former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini.

And Van Gaal is looking to pick him up on a free after spending nine years at Old Trafford.

Inter are unlikely to ask for a fee but will be delighted to rid themselves of Vidic's £50,000 a week wages.

Vidic will aparently be allowed to leave when the transfer window opens at the end of the week and he would love to return to United where he could provide a short fix in defence until the end of the season.

Juventus and Besiktas are also showing interest in Vidic but "home" is where the heart is and the United legend would walk back into Old Trafford without any hesitation.

Manchester United are ready to hand Michael Carrick a new one-year deal.

United will activate a one-year extension of Carrick’s £130,000-a-week contract to keep the midfielder at Old Trafford beyond the summer.

Carrick agreed to the clause when he signed a two-year deal in 2013 and has expressed a wish to stay.

The midfielder, 33, has been one of their most influential players since his return from injury and it has coincided with an upturn in fortunes for the club.

Louis van Gaal has revealed that the injury sustained by Antonio Valencia following Uniteds draw with Tottenham will not keep him out for a lengthy period of time.

Valencia was replaced at half-time by Rafael da Silva and speaking after the match Van Gaal once again threw his weight behind the argument that the Christmas period sees too many fixtures played.

“Valencia has a groin injury but it is not too bad as we changed him at half-time. But we will have to wait and see,

“I said it already before the matches, but okay. It’s a culture of England. I think the human body cannot recover within 48 hours, and you have seen that the second half was a struggle."

Louis van Gaal believes fixture congestion may have cost Manchester United two points against Tottenham this afternoon.

He told BT Sport: "We lost two points I think.

"We had the best performance of Manchester United's season in the first half, we could have scored four or five goals I think, but we didn't reward ourselves.

"In the second half, it was more of a struggle than football. You could see that the players could not recover in two days. It was an ugly match.

"In the first half we played very, but when you do now score goals then you cannot win. I said already before the matches, it is the culture of England [to play twice in 48 hours].

"I think the human body cannot recover with 48 hours and in the second half it was a struggle.

"We gave three possibilities or chances away but we could have also scored from three possibilities. Juan Mata was free at the 16 metres, van Persie could have scored and Falcao could have scored.

"But the first half was a fantastic half of ours, but then you have to finish the attacks and we were not so effective today."

Man Utd sign Falcao on loan for £6m
2 September 2014 Updated 00:31 GMT
By Simon Stone - BBC Sport
Manchester United have signed Colombia striker Radamel Falcao in a £6m season-long loan deal from Monaco.
Falcao had been linked during the summer with a move away from the French Ligue 1 side, whom he joined for £50m in May 2013.
The 28-year-old scored 11 goals in 20 league appearances for Monaco, and two in three games this season.
Falcao was United's second deadline-day arrival after the £13.8m signing of Daley Blind from Ajax.
The versatile Netherlands international, 24, has signed a four-year deal with United.
Falcao's move, meanwhile, includes an option for United to buy him for £43.5m at the end of the loan spell.
The player will earn approximately £265,000-a-week, while it is not thought Monaco are paying part of his wages.
The striker told his new club's website:
"Manchester United is the biggest club in the world and is clearly determined to get back to the top.
"I am looking forward to working with Louis van Gaal and contributing to the team's success at this very exciting period in the club's history."
United, like most of Europe's top clubs, had been made aware of Falcao's availability over the past 48 hours.
Premier League champions Manchester City opted against pursuing a deal as they could not make space in their squad for the Colombian.

It's not paid from our pockets. We needed drastic and desperate reaction to our poor 2013/14 season. We needed to lift the mood in the dressing room. We needed to take risk. Falcao was already a big earner before we bought him. We bought him as the best striker in the world. To bang in goals like Suarez did for Liverpool last season. The chances are coming, we have to wait and see.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m):
Does Martinez want to take Everton to relegation?

Nemesis is catching up with them at Everton (coach and players) for their disrespect of Moyes with bad comments at this time last season. They felt Moyes was their problem for a decade 'cos they were in top 4 under Martinez.

At 265k a week,he needs to hit the ground running. His body language on the pitch does not imply he can do this. He might score the odd one or two goals here or there, but in the end he is not what United need now to teturn to dominance.
I cant see him being at OT next seadon. This loan deal has fiasco written all over iy from day one.
