Obi1kenobi:How is Lagos lop-sided, but all the other states in Nigeria aren't? Nah, Nigeria and Africa need to get back to the basics, and study how Europe was able to turn tribalism into something positive, by creating systems that cater to the tribal differences. That's something you and your ilks will never be able to understand cos you're stuck on reaping where you didn't sow - and you have no fundamental understanding of why culture should have always be left intact. You don't force yourself on people, you assimilate and help in the growth. It has to be symbiotic, with mutual respect - not with threats. Too deep for your mental scope, no? I guess you were alluding to your region in the country since it's the most tribalistic and clannish region. Hence growth has been elusive to the same region. Charity must begin at home. |

aderonila18:That was just loose talks, and he got the message. Obviously, he didn't know we would take it that seriously since we're not the typical Nigerians. And he was basically talking about some next Yoruba people, he had an argument with at some bar. Anyway, he got the message. |

sukkot:When they give Yoruba folks their own country, I might think about it. I'm not a big fan of all the whole Nigerian nonsense. The country has destroyed the progression of the Yorubas - it's a bad experiment. But I don't have a problem with other Nigerian ethnic groups - I fvcks with everyone. Especially Edo/Urhobos and Igbos. I just want to see Yorubas act like they've got balls. Right now, they look like pushovers. Heck, I rate the Itsekiris more than the Yorubas. |

sukkot:I said I can never live in Nigeria, with no "again" there. I've never lived there, and based on how it's constructed, with no identity whatsoever - I can't live in a shiithole like that. The country is stuck in abyss, and that's the way it's going to be. However, you don't want to visit a place Lagos, where you're meant to get a first-hand experience of ya culture, and meet some diluted shiit with all kinds of primitive cultures. Who the hell celebrates Yam? You've got folks clamouring for new yam festival. Next, it's going to be apple festival and all kinds of primitive junk. Just leave the place as it's. |

SirShymex:Didnt I agree with you that older Yoruba folks(our parents) are far less tribally conscious(you call it softer) than we are? Didn't I use my parents' magnanimity as an example? However, we the younger generation of Yorubas especially those of us born in Lagos are not! Thanks to NL. The awareness is on the rise. Keeping ibos shut out of Lagos politics is a task that must be done!! |

Some of the requests are just foolish Asking Lagos state to fund your festivals you don't want government to interfere in the markets all markets are supervised by the government and begging for political positions. They are begging for political positions from APC while they call the Igbos that join APC traitors ![]() |

VirginFinder:Nah, the parents aren't. If they were, most of them won't have a problem with folks marrying outside their ethnic group. You can't go to an Igbo house out there, without them changing the language from English to Igbo, once they discover you're Yoruba. |

500GP:Thanks bro! We must keep these ibos in their rightful place as visitors/strangers/outsiders in Lagos at all cost. We cant continue to ignore their rants/lies. When a lie is repeated severally, it becomes the truth. Shymexx already has a wrong impression of his people just because of the empty boasts he hears from ibos daily. This is a sad development which must not be allowed to thrive/continue. |

superstar1:What's good, bro.? I've been about - just been avoiding threads like this one. Wanted to tell my nygahh "all4naija" to shut up about the nonsense he was spouting everywhere, till I got dragged into it. And I had to just ride that wave. These folks are funny. Rather than enjoy the peaceful environment they thrive in, they're trying to push whatever agenda they have on everyone. About new yam festival? - GTFOH. Who the hell celebrates yam?Questioning the Eyo festival that represents the history of Lagos is unacceptable. |

SirShymex:God bless you.The real Yoruba leaders are no more. The likes of Awolowo and Akintola were those leaders. The current leaders are crooks, are just being tolerated because of the present faulty unitary structure. Even the traditional stools are also part of the problem. They wine and dine with these shameless leaders. |

SirShymex:A number of my relations - male and female married non Yorubas. Nobody resisted them! Relax bro. Things are NOT that bad. ibos suffer from long throat, no doubt, and Yorubas know how to deal with them. A Yoruba woman, Grace Funmi Bent, was a senator in Adamawa between 2007 and 2011. Did Yorubas make any fuss about it? Did they threaten anybody before getting it? Did they have to make up '60%','80%','90%' of the population and 'control' Adamawa economy to get it? Did they poke Adamawa people in the nose and beat their chests as the new 'owners' of Adamawa after getting it? Nooooooooooooooooooooo! There lies the problem of the ibos!! It's genetic, honestly. |

VirginFinder:Well, that's ya family. But that doesn't negate the fact majority of parents, based on what I know, still have reservations about certain ethnic groups within Nigeria. Heck, once you look at some of the cultures and all the primitiveness involved - you wouldn't even want to be part of that shiit. Anyway, I just cited that as an example. Regardless, women marry out, and men marry in. However, if you're a man, marriage doesn't mean you should lose ya identity. Even personally I'm not too fussed on whoever I marry, cos my identity will remain intact - and my kids will have the same identity.Whatever you lot do, just leave Lagos out of it. The place represents a lot, and it has no place for new yam, apple, orange or whatever primitive crop festivals. And the language has to be left intact. |

SirShymex:Tribalsim had absolute Bleep all to do with advancements in Europe. On the contrary, unifications of fragmented tribes into nation states created a more stable, more ambitious, wealthier, more resourceful imperial Europe, rather than the small-minded African petty tribalistic mentality. Did you say forcing ourselves on people? A demand for social justice isn't forcing yourself on anyone. It's like saying the demand for Black equality in the civil rights movement is forcing themselves on people. Must of all the platitudes about culture people ramble on about are just emotive sentiments peope whip up to create some elusive sense of purpose and being in a hopeless country and continent. on a national scale, it does far more harm than good. Greater transparency, cooperation and unity in tribal relations doesn't mean you have to discard your culture. It's just paranoid nonsense. |

SirShymex: SirShymex(m): 5:21pmMarry from your Yoruba tribe. The children are certain to be yorubas but anything else is not. If u hate people becos they dont speak ur language then stick and marry people that speak ur language. Wat is difficult about that or are u just a nuisance? The yoruba that will come to my door for marriage will most certainly be lynched becos something tells me, they are the bigots like shymexx and dayokanu. They love inter-tribal marriage but not inter-tribal cohesion, but rather seek the subjugation and domination of other ethnic groups. We know that thing that u think u know better. The fight for igbo place in the governance of Lagos continues. |

Obi1kenobi:Your retort isn't shocking because you've always shown that you have no knowledge of history. And you're no different from the educated illiterates who decided to model a country like Nigeria, after America. If tribalism never helped in the advancement of Europe, why do you think systems of governments in Europe were created to recognise the tribal fault-lines, with autonomy/semi-autonomy for everyone? Ukraine is that last bastion on continental Europe, hence it's going through whatever it's going through now. And that's the problem with Africa, and Nigeria in particular, with the fictitious borders - and the utter useless system of government that doesn't give room for self-governance. I honestly don't know why you're citing illogical examples to buttress your point. What's the correlation between the civili rights movement and indigenous folks co-existing within the same space? So, the struggle between two immigrant groups after the indigenous folks were destroyed can be equated to to this one, no? What rights and social justice are you fighting for in Lagos, questioning the language and tradition of the people, when you have your own region within the same country? How about start with your region, and show others how it's done? Oh, you still have intra-ethnic squabbles you can't fix - but when it's claiming other people's possessions, that's when the inconsequential American junk becomes applicable. It's basically greed and a case of trying to eat ya cake and have it at the same time. The continent is hopeless cos it's populated by you and your ilk. And rather than analyse the structural problems on the continent, and proffer solutions based on that- you keep adding more problems to it with innate greed. Supreme minds understand the foundation of problems and proffer solutions based on that, while shallow minds copy and paste look for quick fixes everywhere. |

That's hypocritical ,if Igbo people or any other tribe know that saying such things to a Yoruba person will get them a beating that would be more effective . Infact you yourself showed cowardice by letting some say such about your tribe and you didn't take home on . The man will say it to his people that I even said it to their faces and they need nothing
. So you are perpetuation the perception
