Robin van Persie in particular was horrible. missing easy chances right, left and center. It was a very poor second 45 minutes showing from the team. Had they continued to push on from the first 45 minutes, I'm sure someone would have scored at some point.

rooney made those clearances when united were defending set-plays. nothing to do with his average position in the game. rooney was poor yesterday but it's not his natural position so he gets a pass....

our best players were mata, carrick, young.

Have you checked the position in whoscored? Also the heat map?

Rooney did the dirty job. That's how a team work is. When you go into a match, you could use your unique quality for the overall benefit of the team. I am not talking about the clearances but players overall movement in the game as captured by opta heatmap.

Against Newcastle for instance, CVarrick sat deeper than Rooney, while Mata still play higher than Rooney. Both on opta heat map and position chart of whoscored.

20 of those passes were backwards....and he only completed 31 of the 40 passes. one of the duels was also a header at lloris(his only shot on target).
