Anambra Light Rail Project ? I learnt that Ethiopia engaged a Chinese construction firm (China Railway Engineering Corporation) to build a 35 Kilometer long light rail projects for Addis Ababa mega city project for the sum of $475 million dollars about N8 billion naira. This project involves about 20 rail overpasses! Then i measured the exact straight line distance from Onitsha outskirts to Awka outskirts is exactly 20 kilometers (Yellow line). From Nnewi to where the Onitsha station is located will be 15 kilometers! With 35 kilometers the same length of the Addis Ababa light rail, we could linkup the 3 biggest cities in Anambra by light railway ! The enormous impact of such a project on the socio-economic status of the state can only be imagine. The best part is that if the Chinese could build it for about N8 billion naira in Ethiopia, they might charge about the same or slightly more to replicate that project here. Even if it cost N10 billion naira, such money spinning project will quickly pay for itself. Not to talk of the fact that due to the highly commercial nature of the 3 cities that it will link together, many banks will be very willing to finance this project. We may build the project in 2 phases. Phase 1 will build the yellow line (Onitsha to Awka). The Awka-Onitsha line will run in the Median of Onitsha-Awka expressway, which has a huge median as in the pictures below. That way, it won't need many costly bridges to complete and may even cost less than N3- N5 billion naira for the about 20 KM stretch without flyover bridges. Once the phase 1 line (Onitsha-Awka) is functional and earning money, then Phase 2 line (Blue line) Onitsha to Nnewi will commence. Eventually, the Onitsha station can be extended to Otuocha, The Awka line can be extended to Ekwulobia and the Nnewi end to the line can be extended to Ihiala. Onwero ihe dika ikpacha anya here, this thing is spreading like wildfire they have started planting it in their kids. I was in an office oneday and experienced state bigotry, one mbano guy was narrating to one mbaiseman how useless and stvpid Anambra people are, that they dont go to school only interested in container, chequebooks and banknotes, i remained calm until they insult us finish. The guy later asked my state i told him Anambra and that was the end, i didnt bring out any arguement or counterone. If you check my posts and threads here or there i have always being pro Igbo despite all these, though am not regreting being that and i will never do neither will i ever stop. The animal Rochas Okorocha vomited his diatribe, you all were cheering him for being a braveman. How do Anambra feel more Igbos than others? By calling them derogatory words like Ndi Wawa and Ndi Abakiliki. Am from Okija and my town have her image challenges but i have never seen someone from Okija who is not proud to be called an Nwa Okija or have a research conducted and discover only Anambra that called people derogaory names, what of Agbaenu and awaraki wwe are being called? Even in Anambra State we have derogatoryy names for every towns let me say in Ihiala LG Azia-Azia puru ogwu n'anya. Okija- Okija eri agba ama. Uli-Uli ama ogor. Amiyi-Amiyi abu Igbo abu oru. Down to my town Okija, every village have their derogatory names. Anambra did not started calling you wawa, you started calling yourselves wawa for political reasons, now your no longer happy being called it when you have achieved great things with the name. Am challenging abagworo, ikengawo, rarediamond, customized to come and list anything Ndi Anambra have done to any sister state that warrant all these tirades, insults, abuses, conspiracies and attacks "The question should be are Ndi Anambra feeling more superior or are our sister states just having complex issues" berem: |

BuddahMonk:So how is all this nonsense you wrote my business? You don't see anything derogatory when your Anambra brothers call other Igbo state names but you find it offensive when Anambra people are insulted by other Igbo states. Bia nwoke m, don't get me involved in this madness you're trying to create on this thread. Be careful! |

Thank goodness that you have seen what I saw sitting down. Goodmorning my brother.. ![]() Well you have to understand that success breeds jealousy. Just look at the following areas of human endeavor..Anambra leads in all of them. Then you will understand why people are bitter and frustrated about Anambrans. - Political Power house right from the time of the great Zik.. - Economic Power house- Industrialization/commercialization- first auto manufacturing plant in Nigeria. - Education- Anambra breeds the best and brightest brains- Zik, Achebe, Chike Obi, Ojukwu(first black Oxford graduate), Chimamanda, Okey Ndibe etc. If I continue this place cannot contain it. - Musicians- Osadebe, Oliver, Psquare, Phyno, Kcee, etc Name any sphere of life that Anambra is not leading. That is why I want you to understand that success breeds envy. I have also told you that Anambrans are a different people from the pack.. BuddahMonk: |

Malawian:And now BuddahMonk is getting his vile and treacherous spittle in many mouths. I knew it was only a matter of time before he gathers his army of disciples. Now, we turn a blind eye to history. Now we feign ignorance of the Wawa vs Ijekebee bloodbath at Nkpor, and all the tension between Anambra and Enugu that ultimately led to state creation. Now we act like the name 'Wawa' was originally well-intended. It is the resilience of NdiEnugu that has made them evolve a new ideology off that name, and it definitely was succesful, so much so that you didn't know that wawa originated as an insult to Ndi Enugu. Listen to Tina Mba: "I’m Tina Mba, I’m definitely female and definitely Nigerian. I’m a mother of two, I’m an actress. I’m Igbo from Enugu State. I’m a ‘Wa-wa’ woman, (laughs). In olden days if you called a Wa-wa woman Wa-wa she would be annoyed but now you call yourself Wa-wa which is somehow derogatory? Yes, I know. They have this derogatory song they sing like ‘Wa-wa’ Ota akpiri nama’ (Wa-wa that chews cow bugs) (laughs). Then they had another one which was ‘Na ya ukwu, O ji okpa anu tea (her master drinks tea with ‘Okpa’) Now, I’m not annoyed over that. I’m proud to describe myself as ‘Wa-wa.’ I think that makes us a unique people. The word Wa-wa means no, never! They are very upright; they can be very stubborn too. That is why they are ‘Wa-wa’ people. Most of their women are known to be beautiful including you.? Yes, they are; thank you for the compliment" Indeed they are! ![]() A bit more context from Eze Onyeama n'Eke 's life: "Who do you think you are sitting in that seat?” Onyeama thundered and ordered the immediate removal of the powerful King of Onitsha. A scene ensued with the District Officer trying to placate Onyeama. Furiously, as legend has it, he uttered, “Wa” (the local lingo for “No”); for emphasis and as a mark of immutability, he stated: “Wa–wa!” [Never!] He turned and decreed to the colonial officers: “If that man is still occupying that seat when I come back, the leopard will eat him.” Onyeama got his way and prevailed as the greatest king in town!"

Schematics:Nearly half the people on your list were talents molded in Enugu or Nsukka. Shouldn't Enugu State get an honourable mention? Moreso, your claim of jealousy is inconsistent ie Enugu State created the legend called Phyno, and now Enugu State is jealous of Phyno. Pardon my bluntness, but are you drunk? |

Enough of all this please, let us concentrate on the topic. This thread is meant to show the whole world the beauty of Anambra State. Also many people are viewing this thread and I do not want them to have this mind set that I am having now. I followed the Enugu thread from 1-200 religiously until when the 1st & 2nd Anambra thread was derailed and I noticed that the same people that contributed to the downfall of the thread, are still the same people commenting with joy and happiness in the Enugu thread. Even the 1st person to comment on this thread, still comment @ both Imo and Enugu thread and he will be surprised to see what God have helped us to achieve. When Imo state governor made that statement I expected other IGBO leaders to call him to order but none of them did anything to his statement that breeds hate among IGBO. I also have my own personal experience, but it will not achieve anything but hate and mistrust Among IGBOs. Let us forget as I know that not everyone from our sister states have such feelings towards us. Some even love Anambra State more than their own state. @ Buddah,Chino and Others Let us forget and continue with our discussion here on how to move Anambra forward. |

BuddahMonk:You are simply deluded. Orji recently appointed an Anambrarian as Abia chief judge. The only Igbo State where everyone can aspire to be anything is Abia. The rest are more localised especially Anambra. Why is it that criticism is viewed by you as hate but yet most of the pictures of bad roads in Aba originates from Anambrians living there. If I post pictures of bad roads that dots all over Onitsha, Chino will view it as a fight whereas if Arthur Eze posts pictures of bad roads in Aba, Abians will view it as criticism and air their view without hate. The sooner you stop thinking from a deluded point of view the better for you. |

My question is this who invented the ''Wawa" tagline and for what reason, Anambra did not wake and started calling you people wawa. There is different between calling someone a derogatory name and accusing someone of looking at others with scorn, check all the atrocities committed by inter state government and tell me where Anambra have witch hunt anybody. Here at Iyiowa Odepke people from Ebonyi state are erecting more highrise residential buildings than any other people, go to Nnewi Ebonyi state is second in population just behind Anambra people but nobody is shouting Ebonyinization but once a bus carrying Anambra people pass their government house everybody will start playing the victim card. You can call me agbaenu, awaraku, ndiugbobu after all you people invented all these to insult us but i dont give any damn but stop accusing, insulting, attacking and conspiring against people who wish or have done any harm to you. The place Madonna was built was giving to Ede free of charge and nobody is attacking or kicking him despite breaching all the agreements reached with locals. "we dont want Anambranization, we dont want going back to Egypt, Anambra people are the problems of Ndigbo, an Awkaman will never be the Bishop of Ahiara Mbaise but an Mbaiseman will be the VC of a Univ in Awka, Ibeto will not buy Nigercem but Ebonyians will be building houses in Nnewi, Abia State refused to endorse a female court of appeal judge because she is from Anambra but married an Abiaman but Stella Oduah will use Anambra slot for ministerial appointment despite marrying an Edoman, the sack in civil service, all political witch-hunting both in party politics and senate floors just to pull some people down. I pity you guys walahi passion007: |

Schematics:The bolded is part of the delusion that makes you assume ridiculously. If every State makes such statements, it will always be right from their point. Let us take Abia for example and notice that the only Igbo military head of State, the only Igbo army chief, the only Igbo military VP etc. are from there, why do they not claim jealousy when people criticise Abia. Mind you they also have the largest and most industrialised city, oil reserve, the finest State University etc. Why is it that when people criticise Abia they do not view it as jealousy or hate? |

Anambra have been worst off than Abia State from 1999-2008, that even made Achebe to reject national honour, many people criticized Anambra state including the 9months strike and vandailzation of properties. It took the intervention of the traditional rulers in Anambra State to deny Mbadinuju PDP card for re-election. Am not saying nobody should criticize Anambra State but am going into my archive now to dig up where i finish Obi and Obiano but why are you guys always acting in your various states to bring Ndi Anambra down, why are you guys feeling inferior by accusing others of feeling superior. Why the hate, why the pull him down everywhere? Abagworo: |

Schematics:But take a disinterested look at Buddha's posts. No Igbo State has ever displayed that level of paranoia! Emeka Offor is frustrating our own illustrious Barth Nnaji, yet we haven't interpreted it to mean that Anambra is waging war against Enugu. And he alluded to Peace Motors doing business unhindered in Onitsha. Which Anambra businessman has ever been hindered in Enugu? Yet he goes on to claim that if you speak Nsukka, Peace Motors will carry you for free. LOL. If he's so broke then let him learn the dialect, and get transported for free na! His posts engendered these ignoble sentiments in you and other posters such that you began to claim that all Igbo states were jealous of you, and then compiled a list of Anambrarians to prove your point. People often underestimate what this forum does to their psyche. These subtle, subtextual jabs are often the small foxes that ruin the vineyard. On a lighter note, I insist Enugu State should get an honourable mention whenever certain Anambra legends are mentioned such as Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chinua Achebe, Chimamanda Adichie. Did you know that UNN has three literature sections: Americana, Africana and Achebeana sections? Lastly, stop coercing Phyno to re-trace his roots; dude is from Enugu now! |

Lol at a State where everybody can aspire to be anything. You sacked civil servants from other states. You close parks belonging to another states in your state. You refused endorsing a female judge because she aint from your state. Please can we stop these petty insults and focus on the subject of this thread. The people who promoted the "Wawa/Ijekebe" dichotomy are either very old or dead. There were ugly incidents in the past like Enugu State's dismissal of Anambra people from its Civil Service, but that is past - Enugu needs Anambra and vice versa. The selling point of Enugu is the town Enugu - spacious, wide & very livable. People with "civil service/politics" mentality (who know nothing about trade and investment) - tried to exclude Ndi Anambra from Enugu. In a more internally generated revenue driven Nigeria, this attitude cannot work. Governor Chime was instrumental to attracting the likes of Innoson and other Anambra businessmen to Emene to set up shop. The selling point of Anambra is commerce - but we don't have a planned urban area (like Enugu). Everyone (people from Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia & Imo) come to Anambra to make money. At the rate Obiano is going, we might have several planned urban areas in Anambra within 4 years. This might chip away at Enugu's advantage (which Asaba is already competing with). I traveled through Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia and Imo States last October (I even have a lot of pictures). Enugu & Ebonyi have the natural advantage of vast tracts of arable land (there is too much land in Abakaliki). Abia and Imo have massive potential in Oil Palm and the Adani/Omor/Anambra river basin area can give you 300,000 metric tonnes of rice per annum, if we are serious. Ndigbo should start looking at ways to collaborate, not this silly competition ("the narcissism of small differences" . We are strategically positioned and we should look beyond collaborating with each other, but consider collaboration with our neighbours: Abakaliki is a couple of hours away from Calabar. Dredging the Calabar channel is in our interest - it has the potential to make Abakaliki & Enugu boom economically (adding Enugu's International Airport to that mix).Kogi has vast tracts of land and due to Peter Obi's marvelous work on road construction, people are now passing through Igbariam/Aguleri/Ifite Ogwari etc to get to Nsukka & then to Idah. There's a lot to leverage on that relationship. Benue is right next to Enugu State (Nsukka) - we can leverage on that too & Ndigbo have no major issues with Idoma people. Instead of blind arguments over nothing ("narcissism of small differences" , consider this: Enugu is closer to Benin than Lagos, Enugu is closer to Makuri than Lagos too - ditto for Taraba. Enugu International Airport can turn into a major aviation hub for Nigeria if we are ready to fight for its patronage, not kill ourselves over "Ndi Wawa and Ndi Ijekebe".Could we please return to the topic of this thread? |
