Happy Holidays.
Your one good turn in creating this thread deserved another. If we had more Nigerians like you, the world won't be such a bad place.

@prettyboi1989
Dude, come on, give us a break!
Did you even read the other pages of this thread before you came to ask a question that has been flogged to the death more time than death itself remembers?

Sigh...
I blame you not.
I was guilty of this. The op can testify to that.
You do know who the op is right?

Anyways, preferred method of payment is payoneer as it is way more reliable than NIPOST. You have to apply to get one though. You will need a proof of id to apply.

Is it hard? It is nothing compared to the man-made hell of getting an ATM at a Nigerian bank. I still shudder at the hell I went through...

In other words, application for a payonner card is easy and straight forward.
Most of the time...

But feel free to use your postal address if you wish.
According to my amazon affilate friend, Amazon can either send checks to your home or postal address. Sometimes, it is slow, sometimes fast and you risk Nigerian postmen tampering with your check at the P.O Box depending where you live in.

Your choice, your call.
In case you really never read the other pages of this thread, the op is mk82.

So if you decide to join the boat of indie publishing, I say welcome and Happy Publishing

Happy Holidays!

Focussing on the UK market is not a good idea. Kindle money is in the USA. The US has 5 times the population of the UK and greater Amazon patronage. My UK income is usually about 10% of what I make in the USA market. Even after tax, the USA market still gives 7 times the UK market.

Practice my research method over and over, and you'll soon know how to find simple niches with good sales.

Hello skillmyman,

How are you doing? Let me begin by inducting you in the "Hall of Kindle Publishers". Your journey has just begun; expect to learn along the way because you will certainly LEARN BY FORCE

Kindle can be so much FUN when you get the techniques right (moving niches, keywords, book cover, description etc) and FRUSTRATING when you don't!

I've been down that road. There were times I gave up because the sales weren't coming like I expected but later, the urge came and I continued.

There are times you will expect a particular book to bring in sales but it won't happen and some you didn't give much thoughts to will surpass your expectations.

But all in all, it's so much fun and heart gladdening to see your rewards (royalties) for the efforts you put into publishing.

Now, straight to the issue at hand! I want to talk about your book cover. I'm sorry if I'm going to sound like a killjoy but the cover didn't move me. I'm even SHOCKED to discover you outsourced it. Say WHAT!!!!!!! If I were you, I won't accept it. That cover is way below "the moving" book covers published on kindle.

Please take time to go through similar books as yours and check out the graphics. You don't have to be skilled in graphics to design a book cover, just know the basics.

I've never outsourced ANYTHING, be it book contents or cover. I handle them myself. I'm not a pro in graphic design but I have the basic skills.

I use CorelDraw to design my book cover because I'm very comfortable with it unlike photoshop.

All I do is to look at similar book covers and come up with something nice and captivating. There are times I would have to keep uploading the covers if the ones I designed earlier weren't IT for me.

I would advise you learn any of the graphics design software or get someone to teach you. No allow anybody use you do mugu. That cover looks like something done by a 10 year old. It doesn't have that professional book look.

I could be wrong though but I just had to drop my opinion. Kindle market is highly competitive and you don't wanna get drowned in the competition, do ya?

of course fehintola, u're wrong to a degree. Not all are skillful in design or graphics. Our gift varies. We have many pro on Fiverr and other website that can help design great covers. I will publish my book next year(2015) and the dude that helped me design the cover did a good job. Exactly as I described it for him. Yes, kindle is competitive and covers matters because if ur book keeps shouting, "I am crap" from afar, no one will buy it.
So, giving the job to professional to design a book for you isn't a bad idea. Coz me as I am, I can't design...at least not yet..so sparing $15 or more to design a killer cover is okay by me; it will just keep the economy moving.

@twosquare, yeah I agree it isn't a MUST for one to be skilled in graphics but for me, I feel it's better. That way, you get to cut costs when the cover isn't too complex. It's just my opinion, strictly mine. There are times one may need the services of a skilled designer but for that book cover I saw, the designer isn't a pro. Anyways, what do I know?

okay. Yea, it will cut cost if you can design it yourself but for people like me who are not gurus in those areas...,na God hand I dey.

Quit that attitude! You can design your cover if you want to except you don't have a system. If you do, you have NO EXCUSE as far as I'm concerned. Go to google and youtube for tutorials.
Re: Making Regular Income Publishing Amazon Kindle Ebooks by skillmyman(m): 5:30pm On Dec 31, 2014
thanks Ferhyntorlah,
will try and learn how to design covers.
the truth is, not many people have the time.
there are actually two types of people here,
those that want to use kindle as a passive income and those that
actually rely on kindle publishing as their only source of income.

for some like twosquare said, $20.00 is not very important but i really
understand your point which is if you are outsourcing, it rather be supper good.

i appreciate the candid comment

I want to inquire from you gurus(Sarahn , mk82) in the house and anyone with experience with international monetary transactions. My question is this:

Can someone send money to my savings account from abroad(U.S) and will I receive it without an hitch. Note: I'm not talking of having a domiciliary account. I don't have. I use GTB savings acct. So will I be able to receive it directly without the use of 3rd party services like Western Union,Money gram and the likes.

happy new year! Bro. It's not possible. You will need the use of a third party here. Since its not a domiciliary account.

Just exercising my little graphic design skill, and I was able to come up with this kindle book cover. What do you guys think about it? Good enough to be uploaded on amazon?

tabletgirl:
Oga, why are you quoting me? How am i supposed to answer that question exactly? "How come many people know someone who made XXXX amount of money"? How come i know someone who did? Is that a question? Oh dear

Well, only people who get up and just do it earn XXXX monthly from kindle. Maybe you dont know anybody who did. When you have about 200 ebooks on kindle and you are not making XXXX, then we can start saying something is wrong somewhere. Opinions are not facts my friend. Business decisions should be made on facts not opinions.

Ask mk82 about the car he bought with kindle money. As at then i dont believe he had up to 50 books on kindle, but he researched properly. When I say 200 books, i mean books that get the odd download a day, not those in super trending niches. If you have been reading this thread, you will find that you only wait 60 days once, after that your payment is due monthly.

Get quick rich, no patience to wait for your seed to grow and yield is really stopping a lot of Nigerian youths from reaching their potentials. You ask "how many Nigerians make $500 consistently monthly". You should be asking:

How many Nigerians recognize kindle as a business opportunity?
How many Nigerians are patient enough to churn out books even when sales are nothing but pittance at the start?
How many Nigerians have over 200 books on Kindle?
How many Nigerians can keep going after sweating it out, publishing ten books and yet they are not wildly successful?
How many Nigerians read like one hour a day on how to be better at kindle publishing?
How many reinvest their earnings into a system that will churn out more books than they can themselves monthly?
How many develop a business out of it?

Kindle is a game of numbers, patience and hard work. I'd take it any day!

P.S: 200 Books that sell ONLY 10 each a month at 2.99 dollars will give 5980 dollars (including tax).

Is that not XXXX? The next thing you will say is how will a human being write 200 books. Where there is a will, there is a way. Some people have thousands of books on kindle. I'd rather do this than push paper for somebody else for a living. I love the fact that you get about this figure every month after doing the work just once. Residual income. That's why i am doing this!

I love you tabletgirl; you just sparked a fire in me. Thanks for this comment.

just select the genres you want and go through some of those books( the ones with $0.00 are free. It has been a while I went through the site to know if they have filter to determine your search for books.

Alternatively, search for the books on Smashwords.
If it is not in KDP select.

How feasible is it to put up a book or two every week on kindle.has anyone tried it?
Re: Making Regular Income Publishing Amazon Kindle Ebooks by twosquare(m): 2:55pm On Jan 04, 2015
^^^ it is possible if you are going to outsource it and reframe it to suit your own taste but I personally don't venture into such and I don't rush things. Since you may have other job, maybe 3wks or so is okay. And it will be quality, when the books you churn out coz u want to make some quick cash is crap, people will start avoiding you on kindle. If you want to make a career out of it, you have to be patient and write good books that will be reckoned with. Either fiction or non-fiction: whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well.

I know someone who published about 90 books in 6 months and they are all quality books. That is almost 4 books per week.
It is possible if you have the knowledge, practice time, the required writing/editing skills and the correct strategy.
You also need a lot of cash and a good team of freelance writers.

I'm working a achieving a set target but may not be up to that amount. my strategy is going to be "save the penny and reinvest" till I reach my desired target. making money online is interesting, and the only way I have been able to achieve that is through KDP.
