Im pretty sorry for those who dont go do their research before vomitting rubbish. Go back to the roots and know exactly what the johesu/nma/ and the related bodies are about exactly. Do not hear from one party/parties and just conclude.
Those who cant actually express themselves without using abusive words (e.g fools), grow up.

Its really wrong to criticize any party unless you know what is going on in Hospitals.
NASU in universities don't envy ASUU because they know they both depend on each other and respect that. This is not happening in medical line. There will always be a problem when Doctors feel they are Lords over every other units (Pharmacists, Medical lab scientists, Physiotherapists etc)......
They both underwent rigorous training, why then the discrimination?
There should be mutual respect

I just wonder why enlightened people like pharmacists and nurses will go so low to form a union with hospital cleaners, technicians etc just to form a large number to fight doctors .
This envy and show is a shameful one.

(I learnt nurses that hv university degrees are not part of them tho)
they were, but just pulled out late last year..

Johesu members are professionals and they should be treated so. They are not in competition with anyone. The health sector does not belong to those guys in medicine only. There is need to treat a doc as a doc and a nurse as a nurse, etc. They all make decisions to help the patient. This is part of what is obtainable in advanced countries where our political leaders run to for health care services.

One of those infuriating situation is that which makes even a yet+to-be-fully qualified (resident doc) to lord it over other professionals in a hospital on issues he/she knows next to nothing about. Why on earth should a doc head the nursing department? Why can't nurses who are qualified to be consultants be so recongnised. Don't we have communication, accountant, language, etc consultants in those various fields? Why is it only those in medicine that can become consultants in Nigeria's health sector?

In the US that most of us are quick to cite as an example, there have been surgeon general office for quite a long time. However, the question is how many medical doctors have ever occupied it? I don't think there have even been more than one if any. The way Yayale's report want to package it under the name special health adviser won't work. If it is packaged in such a way that professionals who are knowledgeable in the field of public health and others can occupy it, then it won't be seen as medical doctors' advantage to further put other professionals down under them.

A hospital where docs are almighty won't help anyone. That is why those who have the wherewithal flee abroad for care.

So, my prayer is that the government should do it the way it is done in the US, Canada, Britain, etc for permanent peace.

Em...em...em...chairman are u high or something else? Where in this country is a medical doctor heading over the nursing department? Seriously I will like to know, because medical doctors can't stoop so low in doing that. Its either u are high on weeds or just ranting rubbish just to make a silly comment.

well, as earlier said, it's obvious who the trouble makers in the the health sector are. International best practices were strictly adhered to by the committee & JOHESU still protests. The B.Sc nurses are no longer with them as they were also pushing for unified scheme of service for all nurses ie entry level, privilege s etc should be the same for B.Sc nurses, OND, HND nurses, midwives, even auxiliary nurses so that University degrees will not matter. They just want to erode professionalism. & enthrone mediocrity. Which system survives or grow like that? meanwhile, they''ve been on strike for 2 months. I don tire jare.

for those who dont know, the federal govt set up a comitee headed by yayale ahmed to address once and for all,the bickering in the health sector.
JOHESU and its constituent associations were fully involved in meetings with that comitee. infact a few MEDICAL BODIES/ASSOCIATIONS WERE MISSING.

either the NMA or NARD was absent in meetings with this same commitee and infact many doctors all over the federation expressed their dissatisfaction on their facebook wall with that.
Johesu tried anyway to influence the final outcome of the commitees report.

now my question is...why are they dissatisfied with the 50 recommendations of the commitee?
could it be that the commitee actually did its homework, comparing the health sector here with the sector in other countries??

What exactly does JOHESU WANT?? do they really think in their wildest dreams that they will be allowed to lord it over doctors? undecided undecided undecided undecided
U knw one agency can do the work of regulating different professional bodies which is currently been done by 15 regulatory bodies.

If any of those things I put up there are not present realities in your limited corner, it doesn't mean it is not in other places. If any of them has changed anywhere, it was due to pressures mounted on the authorities concerned to change it.

this is a democratic setting. it is difficult when there is a sizable amount of Christians in Senate and House of Assembly. The new constitution that we follow was drawn up in 1999, so what are you talking about? Buhari is with a Christian deputy now that can caution him about the dangers of trying any form of Islamization.

Please go and dig deep there is no new constitution. Sharia law is stil abiding in ur legal constitution. Since you are so sure about that please tell me the section (subsection and chapter) in the constitution so that I can check it for myself. I have two lawyers in my family, so I have access to a copy of the Nigerian constitution at any time. If you give me the section (subsection and chapter) and I locate it, then I would vote for Jonathan.

I really don't know why govt is handling this with kid's glove. The other time when they felt doctor 'stepped out of line', they were hammered with some cadre even sacked. It took interventions for reinstatement. Now govt has forgotten where it kept that hammer because of election. Na wa ooo

In fact, most people do not even know the difference between a resident doc and an intern/ house officer in Nigerian context. Are pharmacist interns 'fully graduated'? What makes a house officer different? Most of these lots are confused. Government should just learn from private hospitals. Has anyone ever heard of strike there? No cos shoes get size for there.

Truly said. Its that simple. If you want to enjoy what the doctors enjoy, buy a JAMB form, pass your POST-UME, pass 1st year, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th MBBS and you will get the respect you desire. Why are the JOHESITES envious because when doctors spent 95% of their school days reading, they were busy warming every club house in major cities. Now it has dawned on them, they now want to equate themselves with doctors.

Yes I know a lot of 'back doors' exist in Nigeria but JOHESU's plight will never pass those doors or the windows. They should get back to work and stop the ranting before they elapse 3 months and salaries will be stopped.

I am sure their online stooges will be after this post. Let's see!
