The Heritage Mall which happens to be the first Mall in Ibadan, Oyo State has been completely razed!!! The unfortunate incident was said to have begun as a result of a fire which started from Mr Price before it spread to other stores.

The Film House Cinema was one of the worst-hit as all its 5 screens were completely burnt.

This info is not completly true. Mr Price is underneath film House in floors in the mall. Fire never started from Mr price. It started from Film house. Please don't mislead pple

The building is only about 2 years old
It may have been caused by a power surge and the fire quickly spread fueled by the lack of fire retardant furniture.
Some contractors only go for cheap but unsafe materials so that they can maximise profit.

Result of poor fire control system.
Truth is, many more public buildings in Nigeria are just waiting to be engulfed in some kind of fire. You have got to be stunned by complete lack of fire control systems in many Nigerian buildings. Regular homes not excluded. Look at e-center as an example, just one exit! One exit in this whole big three-storey building. No fire escape. Damn! You just gotta hope these fires don't start with people trapped in these buildings.
