It is because he fought and led an armed struggle despite all odds for the liberation of his people. He had the heart to fight for his people when others like Awolowo were prepared to lead his people into "Northern slavery". Yes Ojukwu lost the war and yes millions died but the Igbo's hold Dim in the highest regard because freedom is one of the few things in life worth dying for and Igbo's are not cowards to run away from a fight because of the fear of defeat. As for your ignorant post that Ojukwu did not lead a war front, where in the history of modern warfare have you heard about a head of state personally leading a battle front?
