OK so I've been meaning to say this for a while now...

I came across a thread on Facebook of a girl who's husband has been pretty harsh on her and her relations after they just got married some months back.. the woman said that he doesn't let any of her relations come to visit and that even her parents don't come too. it even go to a stage dat he stopped picking her parents calls.

the reason she stated was that when he came to pay her bride price at that time they gave him a list if abt 1.2million naira minus the wedding properly. so obviously he is pissed.

now my question is wats ur take on the bride price issue.

as for me....I'll do an ''usain bolt'' on them.

I don't really agree with the amount of which most Igbos pride price ranges, they are most times very high. It will be better if they reduce it to the bearest minimum, after all the amount doesn't determine how long or happy the couple will live ever after.

First, the amount is so ridiculous... i don't know why some tribes will sell out their daughters all in the name of bride price
no wonder, some women are being treated as goods bought.
what a priced possession!

2nd, they force the guy to pay ni, abi he was high on something when he was dishing out the cash?
you agreed to pay, why pass the aggression to the poor gurl?
you could av easily stopped the wedding than living in hell
abi na by force to marry ni

Na so. We know it's tradition but some changes needs to be made, to enable bachelors starts marrying soon.

Naah at the bolded. But they are the major distributors in that business

Take it to be that Imo people are like the "DSTV" in the satellite broadcast industry, while other states like Abia, Anambra, Enugu are like GoTv, Startimes etc.

If you don't get my analogy.

You can ping me later undecided

Blame it on greed!!!

I am from Imo state. In the case of my family they always refund brideprice after taking about 1000 or 2000. They normally tell the inlaws that they are not selling their daughter. Even last Xmas same happened in my sister's traditional marriage and the inlaws were so happy. Apart from white wedding 250,000 is enough for the marriage rite.

Fifty thousands is enough to do traditional marriage in my local government idemili north in Anambra state, bride price is one thousand only other things will not cost more than fifty thousands unless you decide to do it in a big man way

did u say sexing at call.. ur joking right.

what does she do dat no other Nigerian wife does. pls don't reason dat way. and besides she enjoys d sex too. hope ur not one of those girls that thinks having sex with a guy is doing him a favour.

PS: she never said he maltreats or beats her up. she only said her doesn't relate well with her own side of the family.

Nah i think i read he stops her from relating with people she has known all her life. cutting her off, isolating her like she is in jail. Maltreating or beating is not the only poor treatment a man can dish what he is doing is bad behavior.

Well he was not getting sex on call before and feeling all good about "having" a woman to call his. grin

So you see he is getting a lot for the 1.something me thinks he should be trembling with happiness not whining and trying to make her miserable to score cheap points with his in laws.

Sex out of matrimony is a favour within its not. smiley
