my guy, i feel you. we should not denigrate our nation like that. i gotta tell you, though i like jonathan, i am sick of the incompetence. abot 4 years ago i came across the same sorry story of soldiers buying their own gears (though this was also a major scandal in the british army in 2003 as well.....though it has been rectified). Why cant the army take care of its own? its disgraceful seeig the army collect 5o naira bribes from bus drivers!!! people i use to hold in high estimation..... though i will vote for this jonah guy come 2014; had it been he was standing against kwankaso, fashola, oshio baba or saraki, i will not vote for jonah but for either of these guys!!! kaecy5: |

keyremotes:Maybe losing 14 local government areas to Boko Haram, thousands of civilian lives and destruction of towns after town each week doesn't count as success in their book. |

forget all these stories::: were the soldiers lying ? its time to face the issue and people are here saying they were not authorized to speak, like fela said suffering and smiling, dying in silence. when a father that has ability refuses to cater for his kids, the neighbours will definitely ask what is wrong because they know how much the father earns and spends outside at bars and brothels. corruption is the major problem of Nigeria and when not tackled it leads to indiscipline. imagine south african senate wanting to seat to see how to render aid to nigeria, indeed the ant of africa, see how they were blasting GEJ for talking about france when his undergarment is on fire. this is recklessness at its peak. whoever feels there is no need for change: my prayer for you and your generation unborn: may your destiny be the way nigeria is run at the moment. |

KwoiZabo:My guy I lived in the barracks for 29 years .it is true soldiers by their kits.even when it is suppose to be given free. In my dads entire stay in the military. I can say he was not given kits more than 4 times.its like that every where. It is normal. Go out today if you think its a lie. Ask any ,I mean any security personnel of he had ever fourth is kits on its own . have you seen how an american or even Benin republic soldiers will dress during this harmattan period.check out our security personnel no proper clothing to protect them from the cold.or have you never seen a police officer on slippers. |

So if APC fans help CNN (and fifth columnist) destroy the army because of GEJ, will the army suddenly become the best if Buhari comes to power? |

gbadexy:Its unfortunate some of you haven't worked at all. How do you know if the cost of uniforms is monetized? The FG monetized virtually everything during the Obasanjo regime. How do you expect the NA to buy the gears if it has been monetized. It called dressing allowance. Its included in most government's offices in their salary. You cant eat your cake and have it back. CNN has always been economical with the truth or blows ills out of proportion when it concerns Africa and Nigeria in particular. |

We should be grateful they are making it public, its their job to the nigerian citizenry. ride on CNN. una think say dem send our government? |

B.S. Nigerian military is 'ultra-compromised'..end of... Any 'capable' military commanding officer from the rank of Capt. upwards, with adequate funding and equipment, can take care of BH's grip on the NE. in 4 weeks max! Yes 4 weeks max! |

ROSSIKE:My advice to you is to stop digging, because soon water will come out and engulf you. It must be really hard trying to defend the indefensible. This same army killed Shekau two or three times and he is still alive. They signed a ceasefire with Boko Haram once but we know the truth now. They denied for two weeks that the Chibok kidnapping never happened. They once had rescued the Chibok girls. They run first even before the civilians they are paid to protect. If this was a Nigeria media, your response will be that they had been paid by the opposition. If opposition talk, they are branded as the sponsors of Boko Haram, if fellow Africans talk, we told them how we fought the apartheid, when foreign media talk, they are imperialist. It really hard trying to defend the ineptness of this government. This report and the amnesty international report yesterday was the reason Mr Excuses Jonathan rushed to Borno yesterday. But he can fool some political biased Nigerians but not everyone. |

keyremotes:let the army and Nigerian government showcase their successes as you call it and see who people believe. After all there's means of information dissemination at their disposal. Yeah, nobody would believe them. Therein lies the rub! |

Diogo1:This is funny logic . Do you monetize what is supposed to be EQUIPMENT. Does one monetize BULLET PROOF VEST?Specialist equipment for that matter. This is like saying you monetize gloves nurses and doctors wear or the protective clothing other health workers use in the fight against Ebola. Specialist equipment must be FIT FOR INTENDED PURPOSE. Security kit cannot fall under so called DRESSING ALLOWANCE especially when they are UNIFORMS. They are not school uniforms but ARMY UNIFORMS intended for use in COMBAT meaning they are liable to frequent damage. We are not talking about ceremonial dressing but OCCUPATIONAL DRESSING which should be provided by EMPLOYERS . Do you know that the FG monetized army uniforms and was there a corresponding change in the budget. Why build an argument up on guess work and speculation. |

ed2gbi:Very Good. Now the truth is coming out from an ex-man himself, not just as an eye-witness but head leg and nose witness. Let the pot bellies come out and denied that as well. Imagine! Only one set/pair of those kits for everyday activities for 3-4 years? Yet they must not complain? A time will surely come when all Fibres and Roots keeping us down will be angrily uprooted. The count-down has just started. |

KriTic24A:Do you know that US soldiers buy their own uniforms as well? Do a google on it. Why has CNN not reported that? Any idea? |

ROSSIKE:Oh yes, they might not have done that one or two times, but it is a regular thing here. Don't forget that motivation or morale-boosting wasn't an issue among American soldiers. While i may have my misgivings about the NA, most of them complained of being battle-weary having stayed too long in the field. You still remember a tread that shows us how they are being fed in 2014 as if they are prisoners? Did American treats their soldiers like that? You need to witness it, my brother, i lived in the baracks sometime ago. |

ROSSIKE:I noticed that you could not reply Eziachi's post so it is probably true that you are just a paid stooge. Since you do not trust the CNN report who do you trust? The Government? the Army? NTA? The Government: Let us not even talk about their atrocious blunders and REFUSAL to tackle Boko Haram headlong. Have you forgotten that Shettima Yusuf an alleged sponsor of Boko Haram was NEVER investigated? rather your president had dinner with him in Chad! Or when the government told us that nobody was kidnapped? The Army: They lied and told us Boko Haram signed a ceasefire. They lied and said Shekau was killed. They also lied about the Chibok girls. Are they the people we should trust? NTA: What a laugh!!!! Have you ever seen any NTA reporter reporting the Boko Haram atrocities? The only thing threy know how to report are political campaigns. At the very least the Western media had the guts to send out their journalists to the frontlines to gather news about Boko haram. So YES I and a million others would rather believe CNN than anything related to our government(They still haven't told us where our missing $20 billion is) |

okoro4:In support of this condemnation, why is the CNN not reporting the deployment of Tchadian troops, half of whose members are Boko Haram, to assist Cameroon in its fight? It has also not given its viewers the real reasons why The American Troops are stationed in Chad of all places and the American government,s silence over that. CNN reports are not in good light and a larger crisis always follows it. |
