I have seen a loophole in some comments here in the last few minutes. I have seen some people saying that if Buhari/APC decides to respond to the certificate issue it will cause distration during the course of their campaign.
I find that very ridiculous.
Are they saying that if Buhari is elected president, while he is tackling the issue of corruption, he will neglect the issue of security, so that he doesn't get distrated? Aren't there media teams of the party who can expertly respond to the certificate issue with evidences to back provided by Buhari, where is the distration in that?
While supporting Buhari, most of you are making mistakes that, thank God you are on Nairaland. If you were to be a top APC member, you know what that means.

Don't be silly. The Buhari certificate issue can be likened to Barack Obama's birth certificate scandal. A campaign is ongoing and it is expected that all manner of dirt will be raised to discredit opponents. PDP has been extremely focused on this. Responding to every dirt is distraction! This is different to responding to security challenges while fighting corruption. You got a brain, use it!

U clearly dont understand what is going on at all.

APC is campaigning on issues facing Nigerians and not gossip

Why is no one asking for physical evidence of the VP's certificate?

U are a complete dunce?

Are we comparing VP and a Presidential aspirant?

Compare GMB with GEJ and leave VP out of it.

I believe this issue should have been handled with care and caution a long time ago. Allowing this issue to stay this long without APC saying anything and GMB saying anything himself shows how confused they are.
IMO, I think GMB should have responded critics the moment this issue was raised nd nt by saying his certificate is with the Millitary board, and coming out after some times to say IBB and his boys carted it away when his gov't was overthrown.
And APC on their own part handled the issue with light hand, because at first, Lai Muhammed criticised the Army and didn't address the issue at first. Even as at when the army hasn't said a thing about the scandal except that every serving or retired officer has his/her records with the millitary.
Attention should have been given to this issue a long time ago, taking this long shows that they probably don't know how to handle the situation or had no idea that the General really has a certificate. Responding to issues like this will not and can never cause distration, provided they have qualified people to handle media issues and campaigns.

Thank you jarey.

First it was with the Nigerian Army MS

Later, it was carted away by IBB boys when his Buhari's house was ransacked in 1985.

He goofed big time. Why would anymore claim what he doesn't have.

Now we are all seeing the DAMAGES DONE BY QUOTA SYSTEM IN THIS NATION.

Too bad.

I'm not taking side here, BUT HE SHOULD PLEASE SHOW US THE CERTIFICATE, na we dey beg.

We Must See The Certificate.

Nansance.

That affidavit did not say that he deposited it with the Army, he said it is with the Army(Because the Army took away all his belongings forcefully back in 1985).

Whatever interpretation you have for it still shows he lied under oath.

The military just said the WASC Certificate demanded by the law wasn't even submitted in the first instance and Buhari knew it before hand.

Remember, Buhari's academic qualification stated in the INEC form is WASC and Nigerians are demanding to see the results/certificate if any. Again, Buhari stated the subjects he passed during his enlistment according to Military's records without making (submitting) the result(s) available to the army. This is a crime covered for so long and it has come to hunt Buhari.

My take is that Buhari's career (no matter how fantastic it may have been) was not only conspiracy, it was a fraud.

As I always tell Nigerians who cared to note, Buhari is too dented to be repackaged - Fact

So you think one will just walk into USAWC without having prerequisite qualification? The APC manages his campaign and everything that has to do with it. I am 100% sure that the General has got nothing to hide.

The only prerequisite then was nomination by the country! Buhari, even though unqualified, was nominated by Nigeria government. One would have expected him to have regularised by sitting for GCE or NECO. Unfortunately, Buhari has a lower premium paid on education unlike you or I.

Buhari also failed his principal wrote that he "believe he (Buhari) would pass english and Maths". Buhari is a fraud; he is the face of corruption!

Mr @barcanista please I don't get this. There's already proof out there that he has been educated and even surpassed the minimum requirement. The documents the army released has shown that so what else do we need?

The only thing I agree with is, they could have nipped this in the bud a long time ago by requesting what they just did only 48 hours ago.

The rest is very irrelevant
Exactly, the point! They should have nipped it to the bud earlier. I don't think my post doubted the General.

@barcanista, don't fall for the tricks of PDP. If PDP and indeed anybody has questions regarding Buhari's certificates, they all should go to court. You concerns should arise if INEC shoulddemands for the certificates and the APC keep mum. But responding to PDP Who have nothing meaningful to campaign with is a waste of time.

My disappointment is not with Buhari but APC campaign team, specifically the Public Relations Wing. It is their job to manage the Image and Reputation of Buhari/Osinbanjo at all times. It is their job to see to the end of all these. My position is simple, shut the mouth of the PDP and other antagonists.

See it from that angle...
So he should shut their mouth by replying to every query and accusation by PDP. Or his campaign team should have a special unit dedicated to getting documents and calling d press to rebut all allegations? Then I bet u the team wouldn't have time to campaign in more than 2 states again because as d days get closer and d momentum gets bigger for GMB, PDP's desperation is bound to get nastier.
The intention is now to prevent buhari's name from being on that ballot because its clear it would b game over for PDP. Any other name to them on d APC ballot they know would b a walkover because of what GMB stands for, what he intends to do and how determined his supporters this time around are to defend his mandate to be given on d polls, thus making rigging him out almost a suicidal task for the PDP.

And Buhari's certificate scandal and his campaign are not part of the election issues? Both should be treated simultaneously.
Fine, we all agreed that it is a PDP propaganda, but they can only make this known to millions of Nigerians by responding to it immediately and not by saying it will distract their campaign

I don't know who you are trying to impress here! The question is: who is demanding for Buhari's certificate?

PDP-
Barcanista-
INEC
Court??

Until the relevant bodies demand the certificate, the amiable General should concentrate on his campaign tour! Anyone not satisfied should approach the court or wait after Buhari is sworn in.

Barcanista, honestly am disappointed here!

Wot part of the certificate saga don't u understand?

Nobody is arguing whether he is qualified to contest or not.

What is at stake is his integrity. Why would he lie about his WASC.

Personally, if he had told Nigerians he didn't write the WAEc, I would still have voted for him, but with the lies flying here and dere, I will have to rethink my decision.

Why should they expend energy on something that's as clear as Bleep?

The constitution requires a minimum of SSCE or equivalent.
I'm pretty sure they would have addressed the non issue if the minimum requirement was strictly SSCE

The problem with the generals case is that he lied under oath cos it's clear that he didn't have a wascce result but he listed subjects with grades in his form for enlistment into the military but the letter from the principal confirmed that he didn't do the exam. That's a really big problem for him
I think I like the deep digging , our democracy is growing

Buhari in his last interview with pressmen said INEC wrote letter to the US War College to confirm if he actually had a diploma certificate and INEC was giving a reply he had.
The stoopid military man who said the Army is not in possession of Buhari's credentials have made a u-turn and gave Buhari his photocopied credentials. No wonder the broadcast didn't hold today as scheduled.

It is only PDP and its sycophants that are making noise about it. The matter will surely be a thing of the past.

How about this extract from his principal's recommendation letter?

Note the highlighted part - Buhari WILL pass West African School Certificate with credit in Maths and English, and three other subjects? Where is the certificate? Did he pass Maths as assured the Military by the Principal?

Ngene, I am not trying to impress anybody but expressing myself. I am a Public Relations Professional and Crisis/Issues Management is one of the core responsibility of my profession. In Crisis Management, you identify issues and nip it to the bud without waiting for it to result to crisis. Initially, it was a PDP thing but now it is becoming something else. I have always maintained that NO law mandate the General to publicly display his credentials, but we can't allow people continue to speculate and whether we like it or not every issue is important in politics. It is not about pleasing anybody, it is about shutting the mouth Buhari's antagonists. See it from that angle pleaseeee

You are more intelligent than her ( if at all she is ), and think ahead.

1. She doesn't understand the implication of a Buhari without certificate, and that it would invalidate any ( all ) other qualification(s) built or acquired based on that certificate.

2. If eventually it is verified to be a "Quota System" issue, which means Buhari has been lying under oat, his prosecution sentence may consider how long Buhari gave false statement under oat

PDP don't need to play on people emotion.

The people are convinced that Buhari is a product of quota system; he corruptly benefited from the recruitment process without having the basic requirement. What's more, Buhari didn't have the foresight to even regularised the anomaly. That is what the people know so far, they don't need the PDP to tell them these, they can see through the charade put up by the unlettered one and his band of discombobulated advisers!

Remember, the issue of equivalent is no longer applicable again in this debate for the fact Buhari stated his academic qualification as WASC for which he swore an Oath to affirm its existence.

It is now a duty for Buhari to redeem his image or bow out in shame.
