You guys have given DJ hope, why dash that hope now?

proffer solutions, don't just chit chat for the fun of it. the vibe i am getting is double-edged.

is TEHN backing off because there is shortage of human resources that can work the field or is TEHN backing off cos they have belatedly realised there's not enough money to take the patient to the promised land?

THIS IS NOT ABOUT SHORTAGE OF HUMAN RESOURCES BECAUSE THEY SHOULD HAVE COME BACK TO THIS THREAD TO REQUEST FOR MORE HANDS BUT THEY NEVER DID FOR ONCE

It is so sad to see how things have degenerated to this level. I totally understand TeHN's decision, while it is not really a good one I think we led them to it. We are all at fault in one way or the other.

Mynd44, don't know how to thank you but I'm sure God will bless you for the enormous sacrifice. You've done a whole lot for Dj, humanity will never forget you.

Babyosisi, what can I say? Even when you were 'attacked,' insulted, had your integrity questioned, called all sort of names, you still 'couldn't' give up. I salute your dedication to this course, God bless you too, real good.

To everyone that has supported this course, I say a big thank you and God bless you all.

@TeHN, can you please reconsider your stance? Remember, it's for Dj, he's the reason we all are here.

Smh, too many people wanting to claim right and appear they care the most. God is watching us all.

Anger has nothing to do with this but when someone comes out of the blues to accuse me of taking funds for my own use I think I have a right not to allow such BS stand.

I bet you would have done same too. I have been on this case since November 11. I even had to drag a friend along because I did not know the way to Eruwa. I remember going to 5 hospitals on the 14th in Lagos and being with Hameed everyday for more than a month straight.

If after all that someone can come out and imply I have been taking funds for personal gains and you don't find anything wrong with that statement you need to think about it again. If you think stepping off is about wanting to be right, you might consider that I was with Hameed today at LUTH for an appointment I begged a friend to arrange so we can have options. I could have just told him I won't be and no one will actually hold me.

The case has gotten to a point where others are needed to play their part.

To those who say anyone gave up, I guess giving up also includes putting down the plans and way forward. I also called the hospital in VI today to make sure the bill was okay and corrected some things just so when whoever will take this up will find it easy. I don't have time for anger but I take exception to being accused of diverting funds.

Nobody has written off anyone

We spent the last few days identifying a treatment plan which we have tabled to the house

We are saying however we cannot continue on this case

The options are to
A Handover the monies less chemo (which will be paid to d hospital) to his family
They will handle the logistics and ensuring he is available

B. A new team is set up to handle it
This team will be given all d funds

WHO ARE YOU GIVING CONDITION AND WHO ASK YOU TO PAY THE MONEY FOR CHEMO

YOU GUYS SHOULD HANDOVER THE WHOLE MONEY TO DJ FAMILY AND STOP TELLING US THAT NONSENSE

One thing about life is we are all human try to understand that......AND for the record we are not abandoning the patient. There are 2 options there, you guys complained that we are not carrying you along now you are along so let's find the best option for DJ

Acceptance of what has happened is the first step to overcoming the consequences of any
misfortune. ~ William James

What has happened, has happened. We now have to forge ahead with the limited options we have. I understand the call for TeHN and its field workers/volunteers to reconsider and don't back out at this precarious moment, but TeHN has made their decisions and won't go back against it. So let's not waste more time dilly-dallying over past mistakes, what-might-have-been's or past events. With the new development, all well-meaning hands should be on deck and the point of discourse refocused on saving DJ. We can't give up now no matter the current difficulties that reared its ugly head today. DJ remains the focal point and I believe that God will provide a way for us to cater for DJ. We can still do this guys. With more dedicated hands and determined spirits, we can still pull this off.

So here are few numbered points I wanna share:

1. The most important thing now is that we need funds. We can't be short on cash midway into this herculean task. No matter what we decide, I THINK we need more funds. I think before TeHN finally take a step back, they'd try to see if it's possible to get an estimate of the total cost for the duration of 18 weeks of treatment (I'm obviously choosing option 1 in R231's post). This will help us know how much we gonna donate so we don't donate less than the estimate. And for the records, I choose option 1. I'd like to believe that LCC reached out to their partners in NY and they gave a good verdict. So since they're professionals, we've to hope they're right in their assessments.

2. I chose Option A (DJ's brother) since "DJ’s brother has been extremely helpful all through the way and he is conversant with all processes as well as locations." We need someone that's been with TeHN all these while, accompanied them to the various hospitals and whom the doctors can easily recognize. Someone with in-depth knowledge of the challenges of this mission. He won't sit idle and watch his brother die. He'll be there for DJ no matter what. So he's a good option for now. But DJ's brother has to create an account distinct from that of DJ's to keep us updated all through. Updates are very important. It can't be ignored. It doesn't have to be daily, but at least it'd be weekly and he'll answer the questions when asked to keep us abreast with the events.

Challenges:
When TeHN finally transfers the whole money to his account, there's probability of doubts of well usage of the money coming up MORE now it's in the hands of ONE individual. With TeHN, it came up, but with the likes of Jarus handling it, there was high degree of reliability on him. So let's get prepared for it.

3. If we're to consider Option B, then this suggestion should be put on FP so we can get larger number of audience who can volunteer to be the new team.

Challenges: This option is the best (two heads are better than one) but getting a new team might be difficult. We can still consider it if only it will be on FP. If not, we'd be wasting our time. We need a new team in this option fast, have them meet with TeHN offline and have the up to date info about the whole mission relayed to them before they can push forward.

4. I'd like to advise every contributor on this thread to never be afraid of speaking your mind. Irrespective of what has and will happen on this thread including related ones like it in future, don't be afraid to speak your mind. But PLEASE leave out insults and invectives in your posts. If you wanna make a claim, verify it because emotions are heavily involved in these situations. Constructive criticism is always welcomed. Negative criticisms breeds rancour and fights.

5. What has happened has happened, but it should please not deter anyone from helping some in need out there or on NL, in future; neither should it stop our mammoth support DJ. Don't ever see TeHN in future and swear not to help an innocent person over TeHN backing out on this case. You're not doing it for TeHN, but to help someone in need. I know some people are already discouraged, but before you walk away into the sunset and forget this thread and future people that needs us, ask yourself this question - "Am I really doing this for people to appreciate me and not insult me? Am I doing this for people not criticize me or am I doing it for that hapless DJ/patient lying helpless on the bed, with his life in threat? wouldn't I want people to help me out if I'm faced with similar situations? Will my conscience be clear knowing I left a man/woman I could've helped out?" Yeah, we're in a quagmire, but with unified zeal, we can still get DJ to his optimum health. God will create other ways if one door closes. God can use anybody occasionally to volunteer for the cause of seeing DJ hale and hearty again. Let's not be found wanting when our attention are needed. Let's get on with the one we can achieve now, once there's life, there's hope!!

6. Finally, even though I feel bad with the turn out of events, I'll still give honor to whom honor is due.

Thank you to all those that contributed negatively or positively on this issue. Even in the midst of the harsh criticisms, lay some hidden truths. That we didn't agree to it doesn't mean that somewhere in our hearts, we didn't admit our faults.

Those of you that campaigned for funds, those that "shared" posts so that DJ's case could been known all through the breadth of NL, those that paid in cash or kind (prayers etc), may God enrich you and give the determination to do more for DJ and others in need. I can't thank you enough.

And lastly to TeHN, thanks for all your efforts. It might not had ended as we wanted it with you guys, but there's no denying the immense effort that you guys put into this matter in the time y'all have been involved, especially your foot workers.

The battle is not yet over, God is with us. DJ will live by God's grace no matter how tough this task seems, Amen.

Mynd44,
You've started this good work. Will you just drop it by the wayside? You've watched him through the highs and the lows, held his hands, helped him to feed, stayed by his bedside. Can you truly turn your back on him now?I believe you can't.Even if people don't understand and appreciate the difficulty in being a field worker, most people here do and are cheering you on and praying for strength for you.Same for all those who volunteer their time and efforts.Words cannot be enough to show appreciation for the work you do.
Many of us are asking you specifically not to let the questioning of your integrity cause you to drop something you've been so invested in.Truth is that people have a right to ask questions. What matters is how we react to it.It's difficult to ignore snide comments, insults and inuendos but this is the internet. Most times,it's best to ignore and just focus on what's important and that's DJ.
If it's possible,please have a rethink.Thank you

@Those that have been exchanging words,
This is a faceless forum.I don't understand how we let ourselves get to the point of trading insults and accusations. What's the point? Why would i let someone i don't know from Adam cause me high bp?All i see here is trampled egos and mis communication. It doesn't have to be this way.If you have been insulted and accused, sorry!!Things like this are part and parcel of life.

@Tehn
The only criticism I have is bad PR.I had said a while back that sometimes, when people feel left out no matter how good the intentions are, there's bound to be unrest and agitation.Updating more often and ignoring those poking you would have done a lot of good. And also not poking others also would help.
People here felt left out and that's why there was so much i said so and insults.I feel that when people donate money to a cause, they want to be extremely involved in every step and most times that is not possible and that's why more regular updates would have been helpful.
As you all have always said,it's about Dj.

@All
I have never seen where if you want someone to do something for you,you antagonize the person. Most of us are not on ground so can't do much.Won't it be better to encourage and give polite criticism especially when its a life involved.Let us cheer the field workers, people donating, people praying, and those working behind the scenes. It's not easy to sit down and rack your brain over how to help a patient who is in such dire straits.
I'm a bit surprised that people are still saying be careful about what you type cos Dj is reading.
By now,he should be aware of his illness, the prognosis and the options available to him. Ofcourse this news should have been given to him by a medical personnel, with his family surrounding him for support (with his consent). When he knows these options,he would then be fully involved with his treatment plan esp if pallative. Some people reject chemo cos of the stress involved. Some choose to live fully and face the illness head on along with the consequences plus faith.
Our job should be to cheer him on,whatever his choice and donate if and when needed not spreading bad blood for no just cause.
Dj i'm sure will be more distressed when he reads what's going on.
Right now,he needs calm and serenity..he needs to be kept comfortable and painfree while he decides along with those who have been with him on this journey the next step to take.
Let's try and be calm.

Sisi Chaircover,pickabeau,jaybee,r231 & co...if it's possible please relent and just finish up.You've done what you can in the best way you can.You are all humans and there will always be room for criticism and improvement.

Cheers & best wishes to Dj!

I choose option A. If DJ were in the much touted India, wouldn't the funds have been in the care of his family? So what's the big deal in making payments to the hospital and handing the rest to the family? There is already a plan in motion for his treatment going forward so where does abandonment come into play here? By the way, the treatment may last weeks, months and if he's extremely lucky, years. So we expect the Tehn volunteer to keep following him here and there for unknown amounts of time? What other goal do we have for Tehn please? Abi is cancer treatment a one time thing then it's over?

Let Tehn ensure the hospital is paid and the chemo starts like the option A suggestion and hand the rest over to the family. They would still be able to check in on him now and again. Or will the chemo only work if a Tehn member is physically present to watch it drip into his veins?

Also, if DJ is really unaware of his prognosis like people are saying, he should be made aware asap. Shame on the doctors if they haven't done so already. That way there is no tiptoeing around how the prognosis might be affecting the decision making process.

For anyone who wants to know what Tehn knows that they don't know, pls whip out your phone and google malignant ascites which is what DJ presented with. All the info you desire can be found there.

No one mentioned turning back on DJ. Far from it, which is why a detailed treatment plan options has been provided. Whichever plan is chosen can be decided. I had to make sure I got the options and sent it in this morning so the way forward will be easy.

People live to sit back behind their device and type without know what's happening. I prepared those accounts my myself. I could have hidden whatever I wanted to. The total logistics there is about 48,000 I have spent more than that in personal cash and I still had my own life on hold in this period.

For the first month or there about, no one even knew I was involved cos I did not really like the noise but issues made me talk. I don't really care about the thanks and appreciation cos really they mean nothing to me but the decision has been taken, we simply can not go on with this case.

It is not pride or anger. It is the reality on ground and the sooner everyone accepts this and proffer ways of going forward, the better.

People don't actually know that this TEHN thing is like a job of some sorts even without financial benefits. Reports, mails at 2am that must be replied. Else OAM4J and CC will skin my head.

When EmmySexxy first came and said she knows things that we were hidding, I remember R231 actually gave me something similar to a query. That is how serious it is and how serious we take this. Pickabeau calls for upwards of 15 minutes. And yet you really think we are just going to let go because of insults

Any individual can do anything on his/her own terms Na. I am not saying someone is though sha. But we need people to understand that these options we brought forward are the best we have. Last Wednesday alone, I went to LASUTH, Gbagada general hospital and Island general hospital before I was able to bully a friend to get me an appointment with LUTH for today. All these are options we have looked into which is what we always do.

We have brought the best options down. Pick the most suitable and form a team to follow it up

Thanks.

That is our preferred option too. We have the estimate for the full treatment already and we have enough money to cover it. We can make the payment for the full treatment and hand over the rest to his family for his welfare and logistics and close the case from our end.

We of course will still check up on him from time to time.
