Here is a checklist of Nigerian Refineries and when they were built: First Refinery Eleme Near Port-Harcourt- 1965 Second Refinery Warri Refinery- 1978 Third Refinery Kaduna Refinery- 1980 Fourth Refinery Port-Harcourt- 1989 Buhari's miserable rule was between 1983-1985.. so where does that fall in as to when these refineries were built. And as for your "mighty" programme to reduce malaria and airborne diseases, tell that to the gods cos malaria and airborne diseases continue in Nigeria to this very day. I decided long ago NEVER to vote for either Jonathan or Buhari, but the rate at which the PDP are demonstrating their silliness by chasing very trivial matters, I may just go back on my word and cast my vote for Buhari...if that would get this silly Government out of power and quieten their silly journalist friends. Descartes: I am not even bothered about the certificate issue. As far as I am concerned, a strong opposition is a good opposition. My worry is that Nigerians are over leveraging on the potential Buhari candidacy and selling themselves short in the process. There are a lot of issues that go further and deeper than the seat of the Presidency alone can handle and I'm afraid the only likely outcome is unprecedented frustration down the line on such matters. Politics is not governance just as the building of roads does not equate prosperity. Once power goes to the APC and things donot quite work out as people expect, what next. That is the million dollar question. |

When GEJ came, only 5000 km out of 35 000 km federal was motorable. Today, additional 25 000 has been built. You feel it and you know it is true. You have railways working again. Some of the roads that has not been completed like the Enugu-PH has been covered by a rail line that collects only N650 from Enugu for a 3 hours journey with enough leg rooms. GMB did none of those a period of 20 months in a miltary government that answereth to none. His words were laws. He had no house, senate or even journalists to deal with. What did he achieve? His 20 months is equivalent to more than 48 months of democratic government. tell me what he achieved? Doyin Okupe has a million for you if you can name 10. Remember, the naira was superior to the dollar then. Naira has depreciated to over 210 to 1 Dollar and GEJ claims transformation agenda is workingNaira is depreciating because our economy is oil based and we have no control on oil price. GEJ has done much to diversify and we all know about it. The agric sector comes to mind. The automobile policy etc. I hope you know the that 70000 graduates were without job when the naira was superior to the dollar, when our population was about 100 million. Buhari had no idea what to do with a strong naira. His physical fiscal policy resulted to 17 % depreciation of the naira. For your information, exchange rate was 76k to $1 when he took over and it crashed to 89k to $1 when he was overthrown. His do before you think attitude led him to put tight control on the availability of forex resulting in huge volumes of naira chasing after the unavailable dollar. Economics in the central bank would make the dollar available to stabilize the naira. Buhari has not got it. The 2nd Niger bridge cost was inflated by a factor of 3 and they will toll Ndigbo to pay for this scamFashiola built a kilometer of road at the cost of N2b and you said nothing and he tolled it. When you tried to talk he used force on you. Why is it a crime now to toll a bridge? Because GEJ is involved. Tell me how the cost is inflated anyway. Sammiejokes: I am glad you mentioned Obasanjo. I didn't vote for him for the same reason. Ever wondered why Obasanjo decimated Odi and Zaki Biam? Ever wondered why Obasanjo refused to go and tried to change the constitution? That's why we have to say no to coupists. We should never be seen to be rewarding insubordination in our military. I am not a Jona fan either. My only regret is that it has come to this: Jona and GMB. Besides, I can't vote. The outcome will not affect me either. I am worried about the masses and our democracy. Under his leadership both Warri and Kaduna Refineries were built. He drew up the blueprint for the country’s petro-chemical and liquefied natural gas programmes all without even a hint of scandal. When the masses of this country were about to riot over the increase in the price of fuel some few years back, the Government of the day calmed them down with the promise that the accrual from reduction subsidy was going to be put in an account and that General Buhari was to be appointed the people’s trustee to that Fund. The riots were averted. The people were happy that somebody they could trust, somebody with a clean record, a safe pair of hands somebody the nation revered and respected, was going to be in charge... from BUHARI autobiography....... and .............The downstream industry in Nigeria is well established. NNPC has four refineries, two in Port Harcourt (PHRC), and one each in Kaduna (KRPC) and Warri (WRPC). The refineries have a combined installed capacity of 445,000 bpd. A comprehensive network of pipelines and depots strategically located throughout Nigeria links these refineries. The PHRC is made up of two refineries, located at Alesa Eleme near Port Harcourt with a jetty (for product import and export). The jetty is located 7.5km away from the refinery complex. In 1983, the Port Harcourt refinery with 60,000 bpsd name plate CDU capacity and the tankage facilities were acquired by NNPC from SHELL. Subsequently, a new 150,000 bpsd export refinery was built in 1988 and commissioned in 1989.
