coogar:I have read where Rooney himself said he played in the wing in that game. But he refused to admit he was on same level with Messi as the press were comparing him with Messi's play from the wing. |

elampiro:that's just british media nonsense. ronaldo scored 2 goals & assisted park and people compared rooney to messi? ![]() rooney did nothing in that game. the 2-0 lead was as early as the first 20 mins. arsenal were shell-shocked and in the second half, they threw the kitchen sink & united countered for the third. what did rooney do in the game? |

coogar:The Venables praise and press MOTM I was referring to was in the fist leg. Ronaldo and Park were rated highest by goal in the second. |

elampiro:park - 8.5 rooney - 8.0 ronaldo - 9.0 anderson - 8.0. i ask again, what did rooney do in the game that got venables comparing him to messi? elampiro:rooney was the lowest rated attacking player in the first leg - which proves my point that he contributed nothing.....according to goal.com anderson - 8.5 rooney - 7.0 ronaldo - 8.0 tevez - 8.0 so where's the hype from? |

MANCHESTER UNITED Van der Sar -6.5: Another very easy evening for the veteran Dutchman. Aside from the penalty, the only save of note Van der Sar had to make was a 20-yard shot from Van Persie at 3-0. O'Shea -6.5: The hero at Old Trafford, O'Shea was steady if not spectacular at the Emirates. Occasionally troubled by Nasri, the Irishman did almost all that was asked of him. Vidic -7.5: Won everything in the air, and breezed through the evening without even having to get out of second gear. Ferdinand -8.0: Once again marked Adebayor out of the game. Ferdinand and Vidic, if it was not already obvious, are the best centre back duo in the world. Evra -8.0: Won every single duel against Walcott, and did not give the Englishman a kick. Back to his best after a shaky spell around a month ago. Fletcher -7.5: Plenty of bite in the midfield, which helped Man Utd. overpower Arsenal in the middle-of-the-park. Harshly sent off when he clearly won the ball, and will now miss the final. Carrick -7.5: Again showed his opposite number Song how you should play the midfield holding role. Did not waste a pass. Anderson -8.0: One of the most under-rated players in the Premier League. He is world class, and the most important player in the centre of United's midfield. Ronaldo -9.0: If he has underperformed in big games the last few seasons, the same cannot be said this campaign. Ronaldo has scored in every knockout round, and tonight blasted home two goals, as well as making Park's first. Man-of-the-match. Park -8.5: Lots of energy, Park never stopped running for his team. A superb finish after just eight minutes that all but ended the tie. Involved in the third goal too, making the pass to Rooney. Rooney -8.0: Linked up intelligently in attack, and provided the assist for Ronaldo's second goal. Almost scored himself with a beautiful curling shot. The best player in the Premier League this season. Subs Giggs 6.5: A few tricks and flicks, but nothing to get too excited about. Rafael 6.0: Held his position. Berbatov 5.5: Made little impact. http://www.goal.com/en/news/1716/champions-league/2009/05/05/1248154/player-ratings-arsenal-1-3-manchester-united |

coogar:Kagawa from your chart. But dont forget how Silva plays his number 10. When City came to OT under Moyes, Silva drifted mostly wide using wings to try to penetrate. |

WAYNE ROONEY is finally starting to realise that left is... right! I’m sure there were a few people sniggering in the visitors’ dressing room when the Manchester United striker was again deployed on the left for Wednesday night’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Arsenal at Old Trafford. But, as the old Frank Sinatra number goes: Ho, ho, ho, who’s got the last laugh now? And United could be laughing all the way to Rome if they serve up a repeat of their first-leg supremacy in Tuesday’s return at The Emirates. The Red Devils’ 1-0 victory hardly reflected their superiority, but boss Alex Ferguson said afterwards he may make changes for the second leg. If I was him, the only thing I would change is the red shirts as they will clash with the Gunners’ home strip. Other than that, I would stick with the same team and formation. And that means Rooney continuing on the left. It may not be his favourite position or even his best position. But, like it or lump it, I believe it is where Rooney is most effective for United right now. Terry Venables. |

elampiro:so let's stop depending on starting line up images as the almighty factual evidence where someone played. managers often alter tactics during the game.....to counter their opponents. It may not be his favourite position or even his best position. But, like it or lump it, I believe it is where Rooney is most effective for United right now.this bit says it all. ![]() |

coogar:Agreed. No disputing this. This was why I relied mostly on Zonal Marking to back my argument. But they didnt have for this match. |

Louis Van Gaal has warned Adnan Januzaj that he must make the most of his talent if he is to succeed at Old Trafford and force his way into the starting XI on a regular basis. Januzaj made his first Premier League start in almost three months against Leicester on Saturday and gave a good account of himself playing on the left side of a midfield diamond. “He has a lot of talent but you have to perform that talent in the matches and also in the training sessions, “I’m not making the line-up, the players themselves are making the line-up. You don’t believe that, I think. “I observe and I communicate with my players what I want every day. At the moment I think ‘okay, he is now ready to play’ then maybe I can let them play. “I have to compare Januzaj with Juan Mata and now I choose Januzaj. I’m looking every week and every day the players have to show it. I’ve said this to the players, to Falcao, Mata and Januzaj. “The competition is high and also that’s difficult to manage for players.” [Source: ESPN] ....... Na wao. Mata go vex comot. Sometimes it is better to be silent. |

Manchester United are planning a deadline day double swoop for Kevin De Bruyne and Mats Hummels, according to the Daily Express. The Red Devils have been linked with the duo throughout the January transfer window but seemingly have left their negotiations until late in the day. De Bruyne, 23, has been impressing for Wolfsburg since his move from Chelsea to the Bundesliga, while Hummels, 26, is said to be looking for a way out of struggling Borussia Dortmund. The double deal would set United back an estimated cool £67million Source Mirror, DailyMail, BBC & Manchester Evening News |

elampiro:it depends on d season u r talking about ,if u r talking about d 2007/2008 season ,den I can confidently tell u dat giggs/Nani n sm times park plied dia trade on d left wing ,in '09 Ryan giggs was our primary left winger alongside Nani who switched to right whenever c.baba was suspended or injured ...in 2010 we had Nani n Valencia as wingers ,in 11 d same ,when Valencia was injured ,Nani switched to d right n giggs/park played on d left(park played in d midfield on occasions not always) ,in '12 we had young n Valencia/Nani ... below are some of our typical formations from '05 downwards ,u still hv nt given me enough proof dat Rooney played many times on d wing except statements dat mean absolutely nothing ...sorry d images r not opening ,but check out our different formations on sharemytactics.com ,there u will see dat ,like I said b4 ,Rooney rarely played on d wings |
