I am not a Jonathan supporter, but It has always baffled me why the President never uses his success with "Youwin" to campaign. You hear all the time about his success with Agriculture, and the Railway System, but you never hear of this great program he and Okonja-Iweala put together. A friend of mine first told me about it last month. And then another friend I went to school with told me last week how his sister won N10,000,000. That is TEN MILLION NAIRA.


In case you don't know about "Youwin", it is like Lion's Den...Where you submit a proposal for a business you want to go into, or are already in, and the Federal Government would help you with the money you need to set up the business, or grow a business you already have going. Most of the winners have been youths, and this could be a great campaign strategy for Jonathan and PDP, but I just wonder why he hasn't been using it to win the youth over.


Anyway, don't get it twisted, it is still Sai Buhari. #Buhari2015.

Seriously i think the President is so confused right now he is under serious tension that is why he is making all those clueless statements. imagine him begging Buhari to come for national debate as if that will make him win. He suppose to feel relaxed afterall politics is a game you win or lose. But he is so afraid of losing and this has damped his success.

I'm just wondering why he hasn't been doing so. Unless there are some loopholes in the program that his opposition can use against him. It might be an avenue he has been using to siphon billions...who knows. Cos even when I asked the guy (my friend) that told me how his Sister had won why Jonathan wasn't using it in his campaign, the guy just disappeared online. And this is someone that has been campaigning for Jonathan endlessly on Facebook.

The impact of youwin is too limited, and the process is still challenging for him to be able to make political capital out of it. I know it has been mentioned in the campaign, but awareness and access to the program make it awkward to explain briefly.
Still the APC appreciates the fact that the pdp seems to have focused on all the wrong things, while we were telling people how life would be better with quality leadership.

If he had made a minimum of a million recipients from all geopolitical zones, the impact would have been phenomenonal. But of course setting up such a huge project will reduce money for jets, cutlery, food, travel etc. Hes not a serious person. Countries like brazil used similar programs to lift tens of millions from poverty in 8 yrs. You win is what oyibo calls lip service

I know some people who won the YouWin competition but admitted they won't vote for GEJ. They want to vote for Buhari.

My sister, Youwin is not a scam. I was a participant in the first edition, although I didn't win, I went through the first stage to the second stage, and I personally know over 20 people who were awarded grants.

A friend of mine won in the last edition(he won 10 million) he just received his first tranche, his wife and three sisters won in the second edition.

You have a point. I'm not a GEJ suporter but I find it awkward that someone who was assisted financially to support his enterpreneurial ambitions would actually turn their back on the people who supported them.
I don't know If I should call It annoying or stupid or selfish.

Except you have not been listening to GEJ Campaign speeches, he has been mentioning Youwin everywhere. Youwin Awardees have also taken it upon themselves to be available anytime he campaigns in their states with Tshirts and Banners showing they do exist and are not ghosts. Most of them have been transformed positively by youwin program without having anyone at the top!

The problem with YOUWIN is the same problem with Sure-P internship program - too few people win it and corruption as usual. Also our leaders are yet to appreciate the enormity of our population - 160 million. For example, SURE-P awards to 1200 graduates per year, this is just a hopeless number when compared with those on ground. I dont know how many win YOUWIN but many people I know have been trying for over 3 yrs now and only one guy I know won from Jos. Another thing is that they say the last people that won SURE-P in September/October 2014 are yet to receive a single kobo of their 30k per month allowance.

80% of youwin goes to political associates relatives and 20% for those very very lucky chaps.

90% of Youwin projects fail after 2yrs of existence...... Reason: Loans without interest rate in Nigeria would always make most Youths and Youwin beneficiaries feel it's like a National Cake.

Only lazy charlatans and unintelligent ediots not capable of writing fruitful and formidable business plans will call the strict merit based system practiced in YOUWIN a scam.

Am sure you lots were among those who screamed to the rooftops claiming fraud and scam when candidates from the SW Nigerian scooped a whooping 70% of available slots in the Special Presidential Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development cos it was strictly on merit.

I am not surprised that the president is not praised for any achievement, the president caused a lot of damage with that"I don't give a damn" statement during the presidential chat.I am sure he would not make such a reckless statement again

@OP, the problem with the YouWin is that only few people enjoy the privilege of winning it despite the staggering number of the populace. Jonathan wouldn't want to use it as a campaign tool because the loopholes are quite glaring, even for an average Nigerian to see. With that, it's still no justification that he has indeed affected the lives of many because only too few people had access to it.
