On the Rooney's issue,the truth is,we don't really know where Rooney can play best. Even SAF admit he didn't know Rooney's best position. And more importantly,the formation employed by the manager matters alot.

* That's not true. Rooney is versatile. So he gets sacrificed for other players who can only play one wing. Another reason is that his energy would go to waste if restricted to a position. He was needed under SAF to drop and add something to the midfield.

* I give you an example: Oshoala can play everywhere on the field in female football. She's better than her team strikers, but because of her energy and versatility, she is pushed deeper to help in build up and defensive play while a lesser striker takes the number 9 or even the number 10 too taken by another player. Another example is Scholes was was sacrificed for Genrald and Lampard in the Eglish team. Scholes was moved to the wing to accommodate the other two.

He became the world 5th best player as a striker. I guess he is the only EPL player who has achieved that.

I wanted to provide the comprehensive interview where SAF spoke about Rooney's position. It was very detailed. But spambot banned me.

1. SAF also admitted that in 2007/2008, Rooney sacrificed himself so much for the team. "He was played wide and in other positions" SAF said.

2. SAF went on to also say in the UCL final in Moscow, Rooney was playing well but when Chelsea took over control, Man United went completely to three midfielders in the second half to stem Chelsea's threat, and that nullified Rooney's threat. SAF said that was hard for the lad.

Zonal marking tactics told us that Rooney dropped into the midfield and occupied Essien when United were without the ball. There was a Carrick vs Lampard contest throughout the match while Giigs kept an eye on Ramires.

David Moyes said he prohibited the consumption of chips at Manchester United because he felt some of the players were overweight.

Moyes came in for criticism following his sacking last April, with former United centre-back Rio Ferdinand critical of the Scot's decision to clear chips off the menu.

* I don't think you guys meant he needed to sacrifice for the benefit of the team. It was more like you guys saying Rooney is not even a number 10. Then I kept asking where he had played all these years that he has been so rated highly and won titles?

Generally, I noticed a criminally high level of ingratitude to a man who had served this club so well with dedication. This was what I noticed when I came here. I never was 50% a Rooney fan as this thread had propelled or instigated me to (as I his fan today). I liked him same way I like a number of players, but I knew Rooney was a special member of the team who gave opposition headache. That important member of the team who SAF rested in small matches ahead of big and important games. But I didn't think I was much his fan more than I was to Vidic and a few more players.
