but we are adding goals and assists.
if rooney is better than RVP, his assists should compensate for his lack of goals in his support role.

if RVP got 26 goals & 10 assists, rooney should be getting 17 goals & 20 assists. that's the way it works. rooney is mediocre in scoring and even poorer in assisting.

nani had 19 assists from the wing.....cesc fabregas has 17 assists this season already in the central midfield. rooney has no excuse. a player can assist goals anywhere on the pitch.

In my opinion, Moyes and LVG (initially) both a common error - making Rooney an 'unmovable' object in what should be 'transitioning' sides. Now LVG is trying to 'manage' this by trying Rooney in different positions across the field.
Chelsea has shipped out Lampard, Liverpool will soon ship out Gerrard... we may actually be better off not building the team so much around Rooney or worse still, letting him go!
