INEC NEW Chairman, Prof Nazim Mimiko From March 1, 2015.

The successor to the out-going Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega has being nominated.

The In-coming INEC chairman is Prof Nazim Olufemi Mimiko, a professor of Political Science and International Relation and a former VC of
Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State.

The embattled Prof Jega who has long compromised his position as INEC Boss, will be officially proceeding on his three months terminal leave with effect from March 1, 2015 in compliance with the civil service procedure.

Congrats Prof Nazim Mimiko!!! - Hope For Nigeria.

Unfortunately, I wish I could say the same. But, there will be a mini civil war if this news were to be true. Trust me. It's the straw that will break the camel's back. Not just that, but confidence in the economy will tumble and we, as a people, will the all the more poorer.
If Jega's name was Eze and the percentage PVC collection was reversed for the different regions, what do you think APC and perhaps the north will be saying?

Let us be objective abeg.

There are obvious irregularities in the distribution of the PVCs.
INEC fell short and Jega is the head, no sentiments here.

When this rain falls, everyone will be soaked.

Those who make peaceful changes impossible, makes violent revolution inevitable.

GEJ is moving the goal post in the middle of the game (that is assuming the source of this news is credible). When you steal to the extent that the owner notices, all hell will break loose.

The North and SS are gearing for war. As ususl , the SE and SW are preaching and postulating. But when push comes to shove, it is always the SE that receives innumerable body bags. Guess who are the ones hailing GEJ? The same group that stands to lose most when it starts. SMH.

You are right. I really fear for my people. Igbos are always the worst hit economically and otherwise.

Re: Nazim Mimiko Nominated To Replace Jega From March 1, 2015 by Emperor007: 7:16am On Feb 10, 2015
The coming elections must be free and fair.

The better presidential candidate GEJ should not be denied his victory by Jega's ethnic card.

The postponement would equally give Buhari ( GMB ) time to sort out his certificates issue, while those that APC and its cronies wanted disfranchised would be able to collect their PVC and vote.

PDP/GEJ.....we the law abiding citizens of Nigeria clamouring for change have been patient with your cluelessness, any attempt to replace JEGA before the March 28 general election will lead this country into a serious trouble and riot. Be warned and stick to the amended time table as we are preparing to #MARCH4CHANGE.
I know that the best you can do is to lead the charge here on nairaland. Na people like you dey run if you see small Agbero with army face cap, not to talk of battalion of army... Lol

Flets:
Shame on Jega.

How on earth can he insist to go ahead with an election when you failed to distribute 30 million out of 68 million PVCs? is it not outright robbery to disenfranchise almost 45% registered voters?

Just on 4th Feb, the last 15 million PVCs where flown in and yet Jega insisted to hold an election 10 days after without leaving enough collection time because he thought the odds favour Buhari?

How come the embattled NE have more PVCs distributed than the SS? Jega has to explain.

Why the choice to hand over northern PVCs to the emirs and sultans than the LG INEC officers like its done in the south? Jega has to explain the double standard

His alliance to the northern agenda is obvious and he showed his cards too early.

Even when INEC failed outrightly on PVC distribution and it qualifies for date extension, Jega stayed silent on that subject and blamed only the security program on the joint AU forces in the NE.

This is a good riddance to absolute rubbish. This is victory for democracy.
DO you know that not all Northernerns and Westerners have gotten their PVCs? This is an opportunity for them also to get their PVC.

No matter how South south people collect their PVC. Their populations cannot meet up with North alone.

If you think the unclaimed PVC belong to South South only, you are very wrong. Millions of Lagosians have not collected their PVCs too. Same goes to Kano and Sokoto.

Using PVC to delay election means, election is never going to hold.

The fault lies on PDP government. Lagos state declared a public holiday and exercise for Lagosian to go collect their PVC, has the Federal Government done the same?

You and I know that PDP is using unclaimed PVC has chess game. We both know its a non-issue and should not cause election delay.

What can you do? He postponed the election yet you did nothing. The worst you can do is to rant all day on Nairaland.
GEJ is truly the game changer.
Jega is a disappointment, if in 4years he was unable to register and provide voters mostly in SE SS with PVC's then he should go. We need a level playing ground since the election is btw the North and Southerners. A neutral umpire will do.

if this news is true then all is not well. I personally see as part of a grand plan to rig in gej at all cost on march 28. I had actually envisaged this. I read a lot of posts saying it is good news because jega has compromised. funny. in 2011 when gej won overwhelmingly against this same buhari, jega was the best thing that happened to Nigeria. in 2015 when the odds are against gej, he arm twists inec into postponing the elections and few days later removes jega. I can bet that the said mimiko is already compromised and is just coming on to play his own part in the script. gej is setting a dangerous precedent and I wish everyone would just see that. some are here rejoicing but this is not the kind of dirty politics we need to make our country move forward.

It surprises me they dont know. The Southwest is free of anything that will befall Nigeria and so should Southeast have been if not for the foolish Igbos that collected money to give a false imoression of our support for failed leadership.
/
The handwriting points to impending bloodbath but people are not paying attention. The Northerners do not take prisoners. To them, life means nothing. If you go to Kano and Maiduguri today, you will still see s lot of SE people moving about like everything is well. How foolish can some people be? The same way some Nigerians stayed back in Libya during the uprising playing ostriches, until the Libyans rounded up and massacred them.

GEJ and family may be fully protected, but are the masses?

My biggest concern is that Igbo people have always been the sacrificial lambs in Nigeria. And instead of taking preemptive actions to forestall future occurrences, they will ignite their demise by their utterances, actions and/or inactions.
