@Tvegas,

Can you clarify more on the exhorbitant fees coz am looking at change dates and I called delta US office which they advised me that If i want to change even though they saw i got a promo ticket,i'd only have to pay the standard $100 fee
The one wey high na baby on lap fee which dem quote about $460 one way ticket to Nigeria for me. How much did you get baby ticket?

@ princeadeade, congrats on the successful delivery of your baby. I paid $430 for my baby's ticket one way and even though I had booked for bassinet quite early, I ended up carrying my baby on my laps all the way home. fortunately my mum was with me so we took turns. I don't think their staff really know what the fees are, they keep giving conflicting information that ends up making you pay more than planned for. If you plan to use Delta, ensure you dont plan to do any changes, the cost is really high. personally I think Delta is not nursing mother friendly.

hello mamacajah, how did you make the $430 and what was the excuse they gave for not providing a bassinet for your baby?

That $29 plan na bad market. You won't use it to call naija for long before the int'l call is exhausted grin. You will have to keep recharging with $10 and you will eventually spend more than the $50. I signed up for the $49 monthly plan and it served well.

Please what about wakanow.com sim card? Who has used it and was it okay for international calls?

Hello e-family. Please I need directions to the page on information for giving birth at Northside Hospital, Atlanta. This is for a friend and not me..lol. I would be grateful if anyone has information also on affordable hospitals in Lithonia (thats where she plans to stay). Thanks and have a great day.

Yaaay! I'm 3 mins from Lithonia. It's 28 mins to the hospital, I'm using Northside too. There's not much info to give just that she arrives and calls Northside to register and pay. When is she coming/due?

Hello iyawotobe, they calculated it for me when I called them a month to departure. to get a lower cost try and book immediately after delivery. For the bassinet no excuse was given just said it was not available. We were two mothers with babies on the flight. The only thing they was to change my seat to a little better area ( directly behind the middle toilets section) which has some space in front.

Hello,
@Tvegas and all other Yankee parents,

Please did you attestates your baby Birth Certificates in the US by their foreign affairs before you leave, because here in Qatar they will required it legalized before we can use it for their residence, please I just want to know how to go about it.
Thanks.

For a Qatar visa u will need to get it attested in the capital city of the state in which ur baby was born. I did it for another country's visa.

Pls, abeg I have this very cunny info to share and ur candid opinion will be greatly appreciated.

Wen i went for my visa interview, I used my cousins addy and she invited me but our purpose of visit was for delivery. I used GWINETT med centre bill, it was prepared by me cost cud Nt get them to send me a mail and i got the bill via phone call. That I also told the vo.

Now I have changed my hospital Oakbend and my hubby is supposed to go for an interview soon.

Shud I still maintain the previous info I gave in the form and and den my huby goes with copies of the correspondence between me and my Dr or shud we change it from the beginning.
Secondly shud inform the embassy abt my change of plans?

Hello nland mamas n papas to be! Let me start by saying I've been following the thread from January wen I was searching for info on child birth in the U.S. and as others have rightfully said, there is a wealth of info here, God bless the person that started it. I had already known from asking a few friends that I was leaning most toward Atlanta and finally decided in Northside, I contacted them for quotes and went ahead to look for docs affiliated with the hospital, seems there are many doctors within different price ranges. I Renewed my visa via the Dropbox service and proceeded to make plans for the trip, apartment hunting close to the hospital and all planning that comes with the trip. as advised on the thread I made a file of email correspondence with the hospital and doctors, statement of account via I didn't want to carry too much cash at one time etc. to cut the story short l have arrived Atlanta by the grace of Almighty God and this is my poe story
Cbp: hello, who are these with you?
Me: hi, my mother, daughter and sister
Cbp: okay, where are you going from here?
Me: Atlanta is our final destination
cbp: and reason for your trip?
Me: here to have my baby
Cbp: alright, how much do you have?
Me: about 9000 between us and rest in credit card.
Cbp: calls us to scan our fingerprints and didn't send us to secondary inspection.

When we reached the last officers to submit the blue form we were taken to sec inspection probably cos we declared food.
2nd cbp: hello, what's the purpose of your trip?
Me: child birth
2nd Cbp: how much do u have?
Me; about 9000 between us
2nd cbp: do u plan on using any form of insurance?
Me: no, paying all bills by myself
2nd cbp: that's good, because using any form of insurance in the United states by a non citizen is illegal and Can lead to a jail term, do you understand?
Me: yes I do.
2nd cbp: alright, do u have food and vegetables?
Me: no vegetables but we do have dried food stuff.
2nd cbp: bring your bags here
And he hands us the clearance card without checking the bags.
A lady mentioned compression socks somewhere here, God bless you!

That's all folks, next is hospital story. Praying for it to be as favourable.

Hello everybody.
I have been following conversations in this forum for some time now. I found useful information that helped me in making a decision about going to El Paso to have my baby. However, I had the biggest blow of my life yesterday at Chicago. They put me through a tough time, and eventually stamped on my passport(visa cancelled with prejudice), and sent me home immediately. I got to Germany and missed my flight due to long cue at the security. Now am stuck there, waiting till 11:00am tomorrow before I can start going back to Naija.
My head is turning round and round. I don't know what do now. I don't even understand what that statement means. I've searched in this forum, but I've only seen, cancelled without prejudice. Please can someone tell me the difference.
My story goes like this:

I need urgent reply PLEASE!

Hmm,m sorry u had to go through such a thing as this. Y do I ve this feeling that ur uncle has something to do with this? He might ve sent an email to the consulate about u and so the decision was already made even b4 u got to the CBP. I know for sure that ppl do it cos I know somebody that's been affected by it b4.

hello ma. i think this statement is wrong. I have had my 2 Babies in the u.s and both cases I have used international insurance. At the airport my wife tells them she is here to give birth and she has insurance. They request to see the insurance card and they call the insurance company. So it is not a crime. Although my insurance company is an American company.
If u can try avoid Atlanta and Houston. they treat Nigeria ns badly there I prefer flying in from Europe.

You shouldn't have made a bill yourself , what if they ask you for it at POE and are familiar with what the hospital copy looks like.
Changing stories now will simply equate to fraud sure you read d lady's story,
The problem was :destination change?

I already explained to the VO that the bill I prepared is an estimated one based on my phone conversation with the staff and that they refused to give me a mail as a back up and insisted that I uld come over before I can be granted an appointment.
In fact I showed him a correspondence btw myself and dr Nneka of Northside atlanta and she insisted that I should call the office.

Hello family and happy Sunday to u all.

Sorry to take u back a little. Ve been thinking seriously on dis change of intent letter. Just thinking if the lady that was sent back had written the embassy that she wasn't visiting her uncle anymore bt going to ve her baby in so and so place, wouldn't dis ve helped a little?

we should nt take things for granted.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 11:38am On Feb 15, 2015
Her canse is quite peculiar, the letter of intent may have helped, but i'm sure they cbp called her uncle and he probably freaked out and denied knowledge of her El Paso plans. You know Nigerians in the US can be VERY funny when it comes to being involved with any kind of law enforcement authorities, especially immigration.

Her story has many lessons we can all learn from it. The biggest one for me is to tread very carefully with anything related to doctor para ti, the same way the embassy frowns at their letter now is the same way POE officials will start overscrutinizing going forward.

May God help us all.
