Good observation by Sen Omoworare that since court had ruled that Military has no business in electioneering so the service chiefs cant come again that they cant guarantee security and if they do it should only affect the affected areas 4 Likes |

I've missed it So how does it work. Do you then take the PVC and cast your vote? Or is it still ballot box and paper? Because Fayose can still seize it in the bushes and stuff it ooo? 6 Likes 1 Share |

oloye121: Bro, I like the way u reason, ur question is reasonable. For your information, provision has already been made for that. Once a poling Unit exceeds a certain number (470 I guess), provision is made for Voting point at the poling unit with another machine. It therefore means that a poling unit can have more than one card reader. That takes care of that. The beauty of it is that INEC would have known ab initio that a poling unit requires more that one card reader from their record. 4 Likes |

agabusta: JEGA said accreditation with the card reader starts from 8am-1pm. Then voting starts from 1pm - God knows when. Abaribe did a very good mathematical analysis that if INEC uses card reader in a ward that has 500 eligible voters, that btw 8-1pm is a 5hours time frame, now if you are doing accreditation on 1minute per person( which was not even possible from the way tried to show us on TV) that it means 60 people will be accredited at 60mins and 300 eligible voters will be accredited at 5hours thereby INEC will disenfranchise the remaining 200 Nigerians... For that it may not be possible using the card reader. Bros na so "NEPA" take light o. 1 Like |

amanze15: Locating the designated readers for the units of the senators have nothing to do with the accreditation time. It is obvious that 30 seconds will/may not be enough per accreditation, consequently dislodging others after the 5-hour mark. |

hmm i,m watching this political jamboree with keen interest. Well online polls conducted so far proves majority of Nigerians have rejected PDP and GEJ. We are just tired of PDP Let's see what others can do. We have seen PDP for how many years? We have seen what they are up to. Let's see another party take up the reins. 2 Likes |

Seun: I read somewhere there's 3009 polling units with slightly more PVC readers 500 is nearing 20% and not 0.03 of the total. Which is significant. @op has anyone asked about battery failures? I also read the reader doesn't last more than 6 hours and apparently its required for 10?? And polling units with large numbers? And of course what happens when it doesn't work and who decides? Or does eot cover all that? |

Imanuelle:But INEC claim that it can be replaced. I think the card readers can be configured to work for any polling unit so long as you have imputed the data for that unit on it. Its akin to the way you can easily transfer your contacts from one phone to another now. |

Re: Atahiru Jega Addressed The Nigerian Senate On 18th February 2014 (Video) by Nobody: 3:24pm On Feb 18, 2015 |
queensmith: This is how it works bro. Two processes are involved. The processes are: 1. Authentication 2. Verification Authentication has to do with confirmation of the genuiness of the card u present for voting. How does it work? The card is placed beneath the card reader, within about 3 seconds, the card is read and confirmation made to the genuiness of the card (even if the card is not meant for the polling unit). This confirms that INEC issued the card and not a cloned one. Note that u can only used the card to vote at a poling unit if it has been configured for that polling unit even if the machine 'says' it is a genuine card. Once the card is not meant for a polling unit, the machine detects and refer the owner to its proper polling unit. If the machines fails to read the card reader at all, it is deamed fake and will not be allowed for voting anywhere. After Authentication, comes verification. 2. Verification: This refers to detecting whether you are the rightful owner of the card. It is the next step after authentication and having confirmed that the card is meant for the poling unit. You will be required to place one of your ten fingers on a fingerprint reader interface on the machine, once the machine recognises/read successfully any of your ten fingers and your facial appearance confirmed to match, u are deemed verified. In case the card reader failed to read your finger prints but your facial appearance and othe information on the card are verified to match on the machine and manual voters register, you will be allowed to vote. This rare case will be treated in a form named 'Incidental form'. Thank you. 4 Likes |

Gliding: Remember, the agents will already be on ground to have noticed that the reader is defaulted, the Presiding officer and his assistants have no knowledge on how to configure these card readers, the EO and other executives will be too busy, moving around, typical election day situation on ground, everyone is busy, its a simple reality sir, besides, who will have the time to start transferring a supposedly encrypted data? That is not even in the possession of the low level-reachable electoral officers? These things will happen, we can only hope that it doesn't happen on a large scale. |

Re: Atahiru Jega Addressed The Nigerian Senate On 18th February 2014 (Video) by sparrowkid: 3:30pm On Feb 18, 2015 |
queensmith: The 0.03% is in respect to the total of card readers in their possession which is around 182,000 out of which about 500 is defective. Concerning the battery, a fully charged battery of the card reader will last up to 14 hours of serious usage and the accreditation is just 5 hours. In the case of polling units with large number of voters above 500, voting points will be created by INEC to cater for that. If the card reader does not work, provision will be made for replacement and if with all efforts replacement cannot be made within the time frame of the election, then the election is postponed till the next day wherein a functional card reader will be brought in. 3 Likes 1 Share |
