In keeping with its resolve to eradicate to the barest minimum the incidence of fake, substandard and unwholesome food, drinks, drugs and cosmetics from the Nigerian market, NAFDAC has seized and destroyed fake products worth about #500million at Aswama dumpsite, Awka, Anambra state.

The destruction was supervised and carried out by the DG NAFDAC, Dr Paul ORHII assisted by heads of security agencies in Anambra State.

The drugs were mopped up within Anambra state especially from Onitsha drug market. NAFDAC is a national agency with presence in 36 state capitals, with the sole mandate of eradicating fake drugs with or without the support of any host state government. In fact in this case, I did not see any representative of any form from Anambra state there.
