Breathing from the anus! This is serious .isolate and allow it to take fresh air .since its gasping I think you may likely loss that.Take it to a vet .vet will diagnose it .it may likely be suffering from respiratory disorder. I lost one four months ago during brooding.I administered antibiotic and the remaining birds are fine.but I lost the one gasping to a vet doctor.he used it to diagnose the cause and treatment.
Sometime if the bird eat big pellet it may choke the throat. Do not panick you still have other birds to protect.

What are the disadvantages of using 200watts bulb over charcoal in brooding pen.
I tried it few months back and I discovered some of my chickens are blind.
Heat is not evenly distributed
Burn excess fuel to power generator
Replacement of burn out bulb due to fluctuation in electric generator.
Let's discuss this in the meantime I will be experimenting on using poultry farm waste as alternative to generating heat for brooding in piggery and chicks brooding house.
..
It is better to use some red bulbs and yellow bulbs so the place won't be too bright.

Give lasota every 6 weeks. But since some may be sick now, give them the antibiotics first and vaccinate after 3 days.
..
You can give vitamins depending on the stress ur birds are exposed to. Stress may be high temperature, cold, relocating etc. I give mine every week or every 2 weeks. I give for 3 consecutive days and I prefer Amin'total.

what is d colour of ur birds? Black birds do not start laying on time. Also ur birds should eat 110g-120g per day.if by 22wks there is no egg pls switch to layers.

There are so many factors attached to delay laying its not necessarily the kilograms of feed you administered.lightning is another factor .Temperature during brooding inadequate water all these will affect your birds and cause delay in laying
Feeding 200 with 25kg isn't bad give your bird little time they will start laying.
As a rule of thumb 250birds goes for 1bag.so in your own case you are under feeding your birds if 200 is eating 25kg for 2 days.
You birds will have to attain 2kg before good laying commence.
Feed them more and don't forget to give them vitamins that makes them to eat more just like oliver twist.
Good luck and happy feeding

Remove the nylon for proper cross ventilation. At that age you only need nylon to protect your birds from rainfall.
Since you haven't introduced lighting since when they were younger I will advice you to concentrate on feeding
Your birds will lay naturally without lightning. Give enough clean water.

Hello my people, I need some info on a new project that I am working on. I bough 200 layers 10 weeks ago and they are doing well, I want to use them as parent stock and will like to know from the house how to go about that, what to feed them and went, do I introduce male chicken to them what what male chicken, a cocrel? I also have about 200 11 weeks cocrel in the farm. I actually want to buy an incubator and just hatch for my self. It will really mitigate my electrical cost since while I am brooding my day olds and can be hatching another set of 1000 chicks with the same electrical cost. take away transportation to Ibadan, mortality from travel stress and the flunctuation of the price of the day old in the market, all this can reduce my overhead and increase my profit margin giving me the room to compete. I am seriously hiting the sales outlet and have bunch of eateriesand supermarkets lined up now to waiting for us to be suppling them, but some of our challenges had always been our price comparing it with the big guys out there. These outlet likes the taste and look of our chicken, but wants me to reduce from my N680/kg to 650/kg that they buy from the other guys. If I can do what I explained above, I can save myself some of this overheads and be able to compete. We have two outlets now that their combined demand is over 1500 birds per week, so even if my take home is N20/bird after all the overheads are taken care of, it is still not a bad deal, and this is just from two outlets and we still have a few more in our pool of customers. And I know milling my own feeds will really help reduce the overhead.

So guys, please I need help with info on this parent stock deal, I have no clue how to go about it yet or have not bordered about it till now.

Thanks guys.

fnk. Such a grest idea you have here. However, I think there is a different specie of birds called "breeders" which are used for the purpose you have in mind. They are heavier than the commonly known layers and are raised differently. That is about all I know for now.

Birds used to produce layers are special, they are called breeders. The common layers can not produce chicks that will perform well.

I don't know much about where to get it here in naija, but hatcheries import their own breeders. There is a lot of learning to do if you want to hatch your own eggs. The breeders have there own special vaccination plan so that they can pass the immunity to the chicks.

To get birds that will give you consistent performance. ur solution will not work out. You will needed to get in touch with CHI. they have the patent of Is a Hendrix in Nigeria. the business of hatchery in NIGERIA is capital intensive.
however, byou can go ahead with ur plans but surely you will not get birds that Will guarantee you the volume of lay you soo desire.

With this your explanation, you need special breeds for this purpose and they are called breeders. You can either go for layer breeders or broiler breeders cos they are two different things. Broiler breeders will give you broiler d.o.c while layer breeders will give you pullets. If you are interested in getting layer breeders that are already laying I can assist you.
