Good morning folks, I really commend you guys for this. However, I'm VERY green when it comes to this. I mean I'm a novice to the core. I nothing about decoders that much save for watching my favourite stations and subscribing at the end of the month. This thread has really opened my eyes. My question however is this; I have an Strong 4653X decoder I have not been using for a long time now and I'm really interested in using the Free to Air. Knowing that the decoder is somewhat old. With what is written on its body, I discovered it's an Mpeg 2. What does this mean? and what are the chances that it would get decent stations? What type of dish would I get if perhaps it is capable of doing so? Please I need urgent responses. Again, the model is SRT 4653X. Thanks y'all  |

@sanchez01 Most channels are viewed with mpeg-4 or HD decoder. You wouldn't enjoy FTA with mpeg-2. I'd advice you to get HD decoder to enjoy FTA. REASON: HD decoder can view a HD, Mpeg-4 and Mpeg-2 channels. Mpeg-4 doesn't view HD channel. 1 Like |

Yay, I just tracked ses and amos 5 on 6ocm dish, thanks all for your support, but some of the channels that are 4 startimes are scrambled, any solution and some south african channels are asking for an unlock code. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks |

mtchris:Hello mtchris, ...not all HD receivers can play Mpeg 4 channels. There are some HD receivers that have DVB-S and Mpeg 2 functionality only. |
