You're certainly right. But for territorial and political reasons, neither the Yoruba nor the Igbo would want to embrace this undeniable kinship because Nigeria is a KILLER! The historian, Dr. Famakinwa wrote a lot about this, sadly.

While I agree that Igbo and Yoruba share ancient linguistic connections. I think some of the above similarities are forced.

I do not know of any Igbo group that refers to squirrel as 'oke'. Isn't it always osa? Neither have I heard ostrich called ogonogo nnunu ( It sounds a lot like you just coined that.) If I am not mistaken it should be enyi nnunu.

WOW! Something the Oyinbos will take to any length and study very well in order to find out how different cultures and tribes can annex what they have in common for mutual benefits. It is a pity to see Yorubas and Igbos bashing one another on issues that have nothing good to offer anyone.
