This is an indictment of the government of Nigeria. Corruption and illegality is sanctioned from the top. This
man in a normal society would be facing investigations and possible jail time but in Nigeria he is gifted with a government post.

Mumu is not a condition I proudly proclaim. It was with a heavy heart that I came to this shocking realization that we are indeed a country of mumus. Harsh as it might sound, no other explanation would suffice. It is apparent that the “leaders” know that they would always get away with whatever incredible schemes they concoct because, amongst other reasons,

(a) the mumu people they “lead” are no different from their mumu “leaders” in character
(b) the mumu people are gullible, superstitious and naive
(c) there are no consequences for criminal acts if you belong to the right group
(d) these mumus never demand accountability from their “leaders”

With all the allegation hanging around Koro, the best
the President could do is to recommend him for a Ministerial
position. It is actions like this that makes sane people doubt
the effort of the Government at tackling corruption.

It still beats my imagination how matters of national interest have become rubbished at the altar of partisan and petty politicking. This is not about APC or PDP as Obanikoro will not be a minister of PDP but of the federal republic of Nigeria which means he is duty bound to work for and on behalf of Nigerians and even foreigners who have legitimate reason for being on our soil. This charade MUST stop and Nigerians can do better by not applauding such nauseating decisions which run contrary to national interest. This same man is alleged to be implicated in an election rigging brouhaha and yet we allow such person of arguably or unarguably questionable character ascend such position in a nation when all that has been alleged is not proven. Well, for those singing hallelujah because they think APC have lost out, be ready for a nation that will be so mismanaged that affording data to come online will be a herculean task. I weep for my nation and mostly my people who are dying because of ignorance, sentiments and tribalism.

He was asked to take the customary “bow” – a preferential treatment for former senators – effectively confirming him as a minister. A row had broken out at the senate over the screening. The first attempt last week had ended in chaos. Obanikoro, former minister of state for defence, resigned his position last year to seek the Lagos governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Jimi Agbaje. His renomination by President Goodluck Jonathan was opposed by senators of the APC over his role in the use of soldiers alleged to have manipulated the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti state. Gbenga Ashafa, the senator representing Lagos east, had raised a point of order challenging the attempt to screen Obanikoro. Ashafa, who said Obanikoro has a pending case in court, brought out a copy of The Nation Newspaper to butress his point. He further said David Mark, president of the senate and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were joined in the suit. But Mark ruled him out of order, saying the court is yet to serve him in that regard. “You don’t serve me on the pages of the newspaper. As far as I am concerned, there is no case in court, so I rule you out of order,” Mark said.

David Mark is an enemy of democracy

David Mark can be called an enemy of conscience here but definitely not an enemy of democracy. Democracy says the rule of law must be followed. The rule of law says one is found guilty on a court order and not on news media. David Mark says I will follow what the rule of law says. It is quite clear, David mark here upheld democracy as it is defined in our constitution.

The day the nigerian people start to understand what democracy really is, that day our liberation begins.
