coogar:Blame Ferguson for ignoring such players with potentials to be the world best. Even many of United fans usually prove to know too much. Always crying about how a player is too expensive or the money put on a players head is too much blablabla. If SAF had even put 50 million pound on Neymar, our fans in this thread would have crucified him. When I first came here, many felt I was overrating and over hyping Neymar. They said he would flop just like the other Brazilians that were over hyped previously. But I said Mba, Neymar would rule. He immediately responded with Conferedation cup, yet there were still doubters. When he started playing for Barca some said they didnt see anything special even though he was doing magnificently well. I have always been of the opinion that we should spend and bring in some of the best players. We lost it when we didnt bring in such players like Modric, Bale, Moura, Aguero between 2008 and 2011 when Ronaldo asked to leave. We should have strengthen and strengthen the super squad that won the 2008 UCL. |

elampawa, £50m couldn't have bought neymar. his transfer fee was the most complex. barcelona's chief lost his job concerning this matter - his transfer fee was between €86m to €95m. |

There were several reports in the British media on Wednesday saying that Manchester United had agreed to pay the release clause of Nicolas Otamendi, which currently stands at €50m/£36m. Deportes Cope (radio station in Valencia) claim that the Spanish club have held talks on the possibility of selling Otamendi to Manchester United and decided that would be the case. Deporte Valenciano explain that the Spanish club's president Amadeo Salvo and the club's manager Rufete have talked through the scenario, which would be a good financial deal for Valencia. Although the club don't need the cash with the recent investment from Peter Lim, they do need to stay on the right side of FFP and this is one way of doing that and leaving money available for summer purchases. If Manchester United do put forward the €50m clause, that should make a transfer automatic and there would only need to be talks about personal terms with the player. United would need the will of the player on their side and it's claimed that Otamendi was tempted during the winter transfer window because he was offered a higher salary by the Old Trafford club. Several Valencia sources, including the one mentioned above, now confirm that Manchester United made a €35m bid during the winter window. [Source: Deportes Cope, Deporte Valenciano, Sport WItness |

Yaya Toure is yet to recover from the energy he burnt playing the AFCON and winning it in Africa weather. This is why City has been struggling since after New Year. |

coded01:When Man United is not there, or fail to qualify from group stage, the rest EPL teams are not inspired. United has to return to UCL next season. |

coogar:Coolie-guy, my point is, even if SAF had bid 50m for Neymar, he would have been seen to be insane by our fans. |

elampiro:Woodward is towing this path. rumor has it that he's going to emulate the Madrid 'galactico' blueprint & current pointers show it may be on the cards. Mata, di Maria & Falcao are big names in football & have been recruited for substantial fees in the last 12 months. everyone may not click together @ same pace but these may be the new routine for Man United - sure to recover expenses from shirt/merchandise & endorsements! sight of Woodward are on Pogba, Hummels, Bale, Ronaldo, Depay, Laporte. while LvG pencils his potential recruits, I'm sure Woodward will be working hard to spice up some serious major moves as statement. |

Angel Di Maria is determined to be a success at Manchester United and has started lifting weights in a bid to improve his resolve. The winger has struggled with some of the physical aspects of the English game since his record switch from Real Madrid last summer. But the 27-year-old has now embarked on a special gym programme which he hopes will increase his strength without losing any of his mobility and speed. Di Maria, who is nicknamed 'noodle' in Argentina because of his skinny frame, is working in close consultation with United's team of fitness specialists to pump iron twice a week at the club's Carrington training complex. United implemented similar arrangements for goalkeeper David de Gea and most recently Adnan Januzaj. James Wilson has also been told to hit the gym. [Source: Daily Mail] |

coogar:Can't remember us chasing Neymar but I followed Hazard transfer saga and I remember it was between us and Chelsea and we lost him. I won't lie,I like the fact we don't usually spend money like our rivals but we dominate the league for so long. We can't do this anymore which is why I think we'll spend even more come next season. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 7:18am On Mar 19, 2015 |
coogar:I never for once doubted Neymar. The very first time I saw him play their local league and friendly matches for Brazil, I knew he would be great. His play was so direct, with dribbling and pace, then he was scoring with ease. He could go through the middle and the wing unlike the other guys who were only dancing in the wings and appeared to score by luck. |

Lest I forget, Hart was magnificent yesterday. If not for his excellent goalkeeping it should have been 6 goals for Barca. |

elampiro:Hindsight is 20/20 Before the arrival of Roman to Chelsea or maybe it was before the Glazers purchased the club, we usually spend big we broke a transfer record to get Ferdinand and I think we paid a lot of money for Roy keane, remember Veron ? The UCL competition no be beans o. |

elampiro:there was no value in the market when ronaldo left.......the best we could get then was tony valencia & he delivered that season with his one traffic football. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by SailorXY: 1:36pm On Mar 19, 2015 |
coogar:according to SAF. this statement was to shift/minimize the public's attention & fanbase anger from the Glazers. apparently, we had to service debts they have laden on the fvckin institution! |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 1:39pm On Mar 19, 2015 |
SailorXY:the only like for like player we could have bought when ronaldo left in 2009 was messi. anything else is hindsight 20/20. neymar was probably still in school then. bale was a left back at spurs & he struggled to get a first team shirt. there was simply no one to fill ronaldo's void apart from messi. |

SIRcumalot:How come we couldn't get any of the very best in the world at the time? Romario,Stoichkov (is that the spelling?), Hagi, Bebeto, Lizarazu, Zidane, Ronaldo Lima, Ronaldinho, Figo, Roberto Carlos, etc. The destination for the best of players have never been Manchester United. We always lost out in race to signing big players if at all we ever indicated interest. |

SailorXY:It didn't take long for the likes of Neymar, Modric, Bale to emerge. We were spectators in these high profile transfers. When Tevez left, Aguero was doing very well in Athletico. I have been his fan since his U-20 days when he won the best player. |

elampiro:Its not like we didn't try to get this Player Veron was a legitimate super star before he joined and I read somewhere that we already signed Ronaldinho but the Bastard demanded for a Chopper, in his contract to fly him to london to catch fun" Most of those footballer played for either Madrid or Barcelona we can't compete with that, we can offer same money but I don't know what else make all of them flock to spain. Maybe they don't like the weather in England. |
