SIRcumalot:So how much was to cover that chopper? If we had brought one ballon'dor winner, the rest big stars would have added Man United to the list of their possible destination. Zidane and Ronaldo Lima were ready to play anywhere. Abeg let's just leave all these things. Let's compete for the best going forward. But again, a world economy recession looms. Hope it doesn't catch our stocks in the NYSE? |

elampiro:I think the issue should be more on spending big money on the right players we need. Enough people were disappointed in our failure to land Vidal (at that exorbitant price speculated that time) but at the end of the day, it seems that decision actually turned out to be a good one. Don't get me wrong - I know the risk factor (no matter how small) would always be there even when signing the best/most in-form player in the world and there would always be disparities as to wether that player is actually worth that amount but Abeg, it isn't out of place for us to "look before we leap"...especially when a lot of money is involved. Ps; thank God say na loan we loan falcao and that we never "larimo" the 45m being speculated! ![]() |

Dadehmola:that's the way it is. when you look @ the massive expenses of Chelshit & City from their rise period, it is debatable if they have gotten value for money. you can count 20 players bought & literally forgotten in world of football by these two teams. we can choose to look before we leap, but other teams won't just watch us do that. some times we just have to pay up & hope for the best or @ least some returns. Anderson, Hernandez, Nani to name a few cannot be definitely termed flops in a United shirt - they may not have stood the test of time but they have played a big part in the history of this club @ some stage. when it is perceived that decline is setting in, we can refresh the squad & move deadwood with a pat on the back! this is business. |

Dadehmola:Better than Thiago. I did not even rate Paulinho as high as Neymar and Aguero. Paulinho was only one of my options. However, you gat to have some cases of misses. Barca bought Ibrhimovic and sold him. Chelsea so Schevcheko. You canT get it 100%, there has to be some element of risk. |

coogar:You guys forgot how the Paulinho stuff came about. It wasn't I went out there boasting he was world class like I did with Nermar, Bale and Aguero. I suggested Paulinho only after we lost the bid for Fabregas. That was a last resort suggestion just as some suggested Fellaini. |

SailorXY:If SAF could use Anderson, Hernadez to achieve so much, just imagine what he could have used players like Modric, Mascherano, Aguero to achieve. Ferguson made players to grow bigger than their (youthful) potentials. Chelsea and Man City bought dozens and dozens of players because they needed to do a big catch up with the big clubs. But United only needed two or three world class coming every two years to conquer Europe under SAF. |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 8:21pm On Mar 19, 2015 |
MrTA:if it happens this way one more time, they would introduce winter break or go for FA cup and remove replay from the competition. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by MrTA(m): 8:24pm On Mar 19, 2015 |
They would have to, as a repeat of this season in europe and we could lose a champs league spot if Italy pick in Europe. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 8:30pm On Mar 19, 2015 |
MrTA:they might not even care. they make enough money from the brand to worry about champions league & i think this is where the problem is. too much money in the premier league has cheapened the champions league. i remember they used to call the champions league the money spinning competition back in the days. relegated teams in the premier league make much more money these days than the champions of europe. with the new TV deal, things might get worse or get much better. big clubs can either buy the best players available on the continent & keep their interest on the champions league or sit on their money and face the premier league squarely. |

Ashley Young says Manchester United will go for the kill when they head to Liverpool on Sunday. After beating Tottenham last weekend, United have a chance to further strengthen their grip on fourth when they face their old rivals at Anfield. "We will go there looking for the three points, we are going there to win, you don't go to a place to try and draw. The performance against Tottenham was brilliant but we have a tough game coming up at Liverpool. We have got to dust ourselves down in the right way and go for the three points again.' "Morale has always been high. Confidence has always been there too. We were obviously disappointed after the Arsenal game. I said afterwards that it will show how our team spirit and character is with how we bounce back. "I think if you look at the first 45 minutes against Spurs then that was exactly the right way to bounce back." [Source: Daily Mail |

Louis van Gaal has revealed that his favoured formation with Manchester United is the 4-3-3. And talking exclusively to the Telegraph, Van Gaal explained that having just one striker up front allows the team to switch between attack and defence with more efficiency. He explained: “I am the most flexible manager you can imagine. When the players are coming with good arguments, I change my opinion. "They need to have very good arguments. It is not so easy to convince me - that’s true. But when you convince me I change my opinion. “Most of the players here think the manager is deciding that change. I ask also the players which system they want to play. And then I ask individual players: ‘What’s your favourite position?’ First they don’t want to answer but now they are more open, and they answer. "4-4-2? No. The fans are shouting it. I have played it but that was to do with accidental circumstances. “The system we play now is the system that I prefer, that I have played everywhere. Against Spurs is my preferred system. When it is needed, then I play with five at the back. "Spurs was 4-3-3 when we had the ball. For example, Mata more inside and Young outside. When we defend it was more 4-1-4-1. Next game is different.” [Source: Telegraph |

Louis van Gaal has insisted that Manchester United is his last managerial role and he is determined to help them qualify for next season’s Champions League. However, Van Gaal admitted that he has already promised his wife that they will retire to the Algarve in the near future. “This is my last job. For sure, I have to pay attention to my kids, my grandchildren but also to my wife. They deserve it. Now I cannot pay that attention. I was not at the birthday of my grandson for example. I don’t like it.” But while there has been criticism of the Dutchman’s first season in the Premier League, Van Gaal believes the club is now beginning to see the fruits of his labour. “When I drive my car for the first time in England it is the same, I have to think about the left and the right, that we have seen against Spurs you have seen that. That shows they can do things together as a team. That takes time. At Bayern it took until December. And now until March with United." [Source: Guardian] |

The level of competition is higher... For EPL clubs to compete.. They need that winter break. Desperately. In some ways the UCL results show the overall strength of the PL. Every week is a battle so teams are exhausted for Europe. |

elampiro:A couple of weeks ago I said something alluding to the points LVG is saying now, that he needed to assess his players and take a decision on where they preffered to play and this definitely will happen after having a little comfortable talk with the players in a clear sincere environment. I believe that's what had happened and the arsenal loss made it imperative and necessary. Now he is saying he is a listening coach that needs to be convinced. Let him not listen na and continue to play his 352 formation and end up in a worse position than oga Moyes when the players are not comfy with his style. The way the lads dispatched Tottenham was just exquisite and I knew something had happened amongst the players and coaching crew. I just wish/hope the resurgence continues. Imagine LVG saying he now favours 433 and is flexible. I laff. |
