candygosh: If you taste ekuru, you will never go back to moi-moi You blend just the beans without anything You stir in one direction until it is very fluffy and soft just like the Nigerian cake mix You steam it like the way you steam your moi-moi You make your sauce with scorch bonnet, onions and ginger. Make sure it is not well grounded and you fry with your palm oil, lots of it You eat it with ekuro, but first you have to dissolve the ekuru into bespoke texture, mix it with your sauce and finish it with eko. I miss Nigeria You have to try it 1 Like |

peterjero post =31202364: I used to boil my rice by adding salt to it from the beginning. That day my mum asked me to boil beans for the next day. My lazy self did not want to check up on the beans. I added salt and a lot of water. It was a good thing my mum was fast asleep. I disposed it and forced my self to stay awake till the new one was done |

I have cooking blunders in abundance, I can't remember when I cooked last. I eat when I get to work and before I get home at night. I once put full tin tomatoes in spag, it turned black and bitter, no idea why. I once burnt a pot of beans twice, while the ultimate was leaving pot on fire and leaving for work, na only my parlour survive the fire, since then, I never cook again. 4 Likes |

as a student who minors in culinary I'd say I'm pretty shy to say this...my first time attempting a cake and I decided to go all out and make a rainbow cake...it turned out good as in taste but plating was messed up...then I tried to do it again the second time and guess what? I added so much coloring that the cake became salty...lol...NOW that dustbin volunteering work really helped... Here is the first rainbow disorganized cake I made before the salty one 3 Likes 1 Share

SisiNini: One day I decided to cook beans. I threw all the condiments, including oil, salt, pepper and crayfish, into the pot. I boiled and boiled and boiled. The beans kept bouncing around in the pot without getting soft. The initial water dried up; I added more water and piled more heat but nothing changed. After about 2 hours, I threw away the still hard beans. I realised later that I shouldn't have added oil in the beginning. The oil coated the beans and made it impossible to absorb water necessary to soften the beans. I never forget the experience. 4 Likes 1 Share |

I thought it was Salt l was adding to the stew.... but it was granulated Sugar! That Stew sweet, no be small! Dont mention the beating l received that day.... l dont want to remember it. BTW: I was expecting a "date" in my University days and l decided to surprise her by doing some home cooking. after spending a sizable chunk of my monthly allowance to shop in the market for the right ingredients (Chicken, pepper, tomatoes, e.t.c).. everything was going according to plan and the smell of the stew sef was making my room mates crazy! They were all like... when you escort the lady to the park, we will finish the remainder of that stew before you come back! Well, they left the room in anticipation that my guest will soon land... and you know boyz cherish privacy a bit now God punish Devil o! I dont know how l fell into this trance just as l was resting my back on the bed, waiting for the Soup to "done" properly! It was the knock of the "angel" that woke me as she stepped into the room and noticed a bad smell immediately! My Pot of Stew is completely burnt! Its a Sunday evening, not much to buy on campus! That romance just did not work out at all. crazy room mates were only concerned about their own loss.... not even pity my pocket or my Soup or the failed romance attempt! Lastpage! 6 Likes 1 Share |

In 1994 to be precise, my cousin and I were asked to prepare Rice n Beans combo for the whole house. To cut the long story short, the beans was highly undercooked and strong that you would think u were eating rice and stone When we realised this, we were now tasked with secretly separating the beans from the rice for every plate we dished Everyone ate 'jollof rice' while my cousin and I tried eating d beans but couldn't and we went to bed hungry! 4 Likes |

I remember trying out coconut rice for my friends back then on school just because we saw free coconut . I cooked the coconut water ,the chaft ,the water with the rice . at the end of the day we Were going to the toilet every five minutes before the school clinic came to our rescure . that was the end of ordinary coconut eating for my friends let alone with rice . But I later leant it and I cook it for my family now every Sunday 4 Likes 1 Share |

Lovely Post Op, well as for me the only error I had then(2011) was Pap/custard making #TeamAlwaysWatery#Lol. But now am an expert on that even to the extent of tutoring other people #Godwin... As for other meals, I have long perfected on them ever since 2007, thankGod for the help of my Mum who is a Caterer and also my Dad who Encouraged me because where I hail from(Delta, Agbor to be Precise) Men are very good cooks #ItsJustInTheirBlood. Lastly COOKING IS MY HOBBY. 2 Likes |

i love cooking that most of the time i go on line and google some Nigeria food and then i do try them out following the instructions.they do turn out fine but i would never forget in a rush when i prepared Sargetti back then in school, the food looked very attractive, i added 4-5 tin tomatoes to make it look reddish, but the end result was something else. My roommates all shared the hot food with me that night but by 12 midnight see them scampering for the hostel toilet, they were all purging. i must confess it wasn't a pleasant experience. 1 Like |

Mine was not cooking, but something else. I was about 11. I was told to peel sweet potatoes. I took the potatoes, knife and container with water close to where my parents were so that i could listen to their stories. When I finished peeling the first potato I gave it a "bite". It tasted good. So each time I finished peeling a potato, I bit it to taste whether it was as sweet as the previous one. I was hearing my parents laugh but didn't know why...sometimes I joined in the laughter. Then dad asked why I was biting each potato...that's when it hit me that they had been laughing at me. Since then I have learned to cook without tasting. 2 Likes 1 Share |
