the most significant civilization that sprung in Africa was Egypt, there were small civilizations in comparison that also arose later. Civilizations like the Mali, Ghana, Oyo , Great Zimbabwe and Benin and so on. none after Egypt can compare with the [Rome Empire, Ancient Greece (Athens, Sparta), the various dynasties in Asia] these civilizations are so influential structures millenniums old are still standing, when go to these sites today, all you can do is stare in awe and wonder of those who came thousands of years before us accomplished............in sub Saharan Africa there's no such thing. The so much acclaimed Benin City was destroyed by mere British troops. Napoleon attacked Egypt and some of those acient structures are still standing til today. |

sub saharan africa was busy concentrating on how to prepare charms, love potionns... and fighting inter tribal wars, while europe, asia, north africa and the levant occupied themselves with building ships, machines, and exploring the world |

Fulaman198:this isn't what i was taught to believe, this is what truly happened!! with all the paraphernalia of charms that the sub saharan africa possessed, why didn't they put up adequate resistance against western explorers (such as inflicting them with a deadly pestilence) |

I love some black people for the fact that they cannot reason for themselves. If Europe is more developed than Africa, tell me any monument on planet earth that is intellectually developed like the pyramids of Egypt. |

The fact was that these societies had civilizations. There was the Arabian Civilization, Egyptian Civilization, Greek Civilization, European Civilization/ Industrial Evolution. These were time when these societies prided themselves on education and made it compulsory thus broadening their horizons. Unfortunately, Africa did not have these eras and so did not develop (partly because it was too comfortable as we had all the natural resources needed for basic survival.) As with us humans, if we do not feel the need for something, we do not strive to satisfy such need! |

Fulaman198:yes!! that''s a wonderful observation, even the europeans marvelled at the efficiency of the "bull" army formation which chaka used at battles.... if not for the lack of advanced weaponry the zulu would have easily defeated the dutch and britons |

one of the most efficient tactics the europeans employed in subjugating africa was the introduction of christianity..... making us to dispose our gods which had been our source of inspiration as demons. "put down your weapons and embrace the religion of peace" but the brits never dropped theirs |

A lot of the Captain "save Africa's Image" guys are swimming in irrelevances. For all of Africa's mighty history...we came down all too quick under the will of the Europeas and remain their bootlickers till today. That the acclaimed Bini Empire fell in just 1 day under minimal British manpower (worse - I heard they used lower ranked African footsoldiers to fight) is very telling. Even the so-called Zulu's are overhyped. The ratio of Zulu to British soldiers was very high and with higher casualties on the Zulu end but I guess they did well enough by African standards. Still lost woefully at the end though. A very weak race for all that we tout! Our biggest saving grace in the hotter climates of Africa is Malaria and heat. Thank God for mother nature! If all of Africa were as temperate as the Southern tip of the continent Blacks would have truly been a conquered and assimilated race. Apertheid abound and the European minority ruling classes staking as much (if not more) claim to the entire continent. Imagine European Nigerian "indigenes" and the disenfranchised Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Efik, etc slaves running to them, cap in hands. A significant biracial population and racial politics as we see in the USA.The world truly is the White man's playground. What a pitiful joke on majority of mankind! |

Africa was infected by religion, superstition and fairy tales. These cocktale destroys creative thinking. And we are still under-developed because of these cocktales. We produce nothing. |

Billyonaire:Africa is only plagued by cowardice, laziness, weakness of mind and a fear of confronting the unknown. This is why we are comfortable with religion and superstition. We simply can't be bothered to take on uncertainties to uncover truths. How much has fear of questioning things inhibited us from challenging authority, seeking out alternatives? |

we had our own boom of civilization too but our dishonesty and lack of unity plunged us into dark ages. |

We can all sit down and blame others as d reason y we haven't moved forward as a continent. But d fact is dat every continent, country and race have their own problems, bt they've sat down and thought about d solutions to their problems. D reason why Africa hasn't moved on as a continent is wit d kind of leaders we choose to lead us, leaders wit their *grab n carry* mentality, leaders dat are nt innovative, leaders who don't even have d interest of their fellow countrymen in mind nt to talk of d continent in general. Believe me if we can have a change of leaders across the lenght and breadth of Africa, in less dan a decade we'll start seeing positive changes around d continent. |

bigfrancis21:ok so our forefathers were so ingenious bt in all their ingenuity none of their legacies could survive the european onslaught. Even their historical writings, architecture etc.. The germans greeks, chinese , japs, indians etc at some point went thru slavery and conquest.. But we can see today they create .. The blackman could not even arm his armies with home made matchetes.. Uniformly smelted. Truth is our supposed great kingdoms were mud huts, nt more than a storey high. The egyptian crafts we claim are nt even negroid. I rmba during the biafra war , for the 1st tyme in history a negroid group was creating its weapons on a semi mass scale..what happened? Petty bigotry and envy drove the fg to cover up these creations and dismantle all teams involved. You see the values and attitudes the typical negro exhibits?... Now were nt creating anything. I guess u can blame tht on the whites too. Even if u take all of lagos population and transfer to newyork thts already built, and do vice versa.. Tht newyork will become like lagos in 10yrs and guess what? This lagos will suddenly change to newyork with a thriving white population. Don't get me wrong, we've got really intelligent folks but trust me, bulk of negroes are savage beasts. 95percent more or less. Its shockn, I've even become racist towards my ppl after seeing how other races behave.. Even in domestic circles. |
