Some Major Markets In Lagos Closed Today Due To Jonathan's Campaign? by JackBaueress(f): 10:13am On Mar 24, 2015
My uncles who do business at Trade Fair Complex just told me that the market was closed because Jonathan is coming to Lagos for a rally holding at National Stadium today. Is it because the market is owned by FG?
Those living in Lagos, are there any other markets that have been closed for PDP rally today?

Mr man get your facts right and stop supporting the wrong move by the president.

This is flagrant abuse of power. Where in the civilized world does this ever happen without consequences? Closing down a whole city for the visit of a politician? Oppressing and depriving the same people who elected him to serve them? It would have been a different matter if a public holiday was declared by the local authorities but to shut down an entire city? Who compensates the people for the loss in economic activities, petty traders who would lose in earnings etc? Who picks up the bill for the cost of all the security apparatus?
This man Jonathan is turning Nigeria into a police state!

I hope Alaba international market was not closed because of one useless campaign Jonathan is holding. I have business to do there today.
I dunno why a rally that is holding in surulere should affect business activities in Trade Fair in Ojo. angry

I am indeed very worried when Nigerians in the age of digital technology still display such level of ignorance and misguided militancy on basic facts. Instead of using your brains to discuss national issues we rely most on our emotions. Please find below a link for your information and state on record that; Delta also declared public holidays to receive Jonathan.

they didn't take the decision. if they did, other markets would have closed too. Me think its because Trade Fair is owned by FG that's why it was closed down. My uncles didn't know the market will be closed not until this morning. They had gone to the market this morning only to come back with the news.

Are you kidding? Comparing people being paid by the government to the people who hustle to make ends meet just because of your biased politics is cheap and dangerous for our nation.

The government owns the workers and pays them so he has the right to give holidays as he wishes. FG does not own the marketers only the market. You can imagine the suffering a load carrier (alabaru) in the market would go tru for not working today. Will the FG feed that person.

You have to weigh the merits and demerits before comparing.

Declaring a public holiday by state affects nobody negatively. The workers can relax and have an off day, the FG workers are not affected, the private sector is not affected everyone is happy. But closing markets, workers (state & FG) can't buy things, market men and women can't feed etc. Its a violation of their fundamental human rights.

If the market is closed, how successful would the rally be?

Are armed security personnel stationed at the Complex to enforce closure compliance?

Or did the traders choose to declare their support/

Is it obligatory or optional to comply?

Get the information much richer so we'll make roundly informed comments.

Thanks

You don't seem to use your brains that much, do you?
If you weren't blinded by follow follow mentality, you would have known that 80% of business premises in Trade fair are owned by the Igbos, his major supporters.
Did it even occur to you that they might have closed trade fair today, just to give him support in their own little way?
Use your head for once.
