You can't be serious. Mention which tribe you are from and I will list for you some of the politicians in civilian dress from there who assisted the so-called Hausa/Fulani military to ruin this country. You think people from any part of Nigeria are innocent of the mess we are in today? All this northern vs. southern nonsense is the same strategy they have been using since 1960 to steal our money without any consequences while we continue to bicker and quarrel among ourselves. Whenever corrupt politicians gather together to share our stolen common wealth they don't know who is from the north or who is from the south.
I am from Isoko,delta state oya mention them one by one...

kahal29:
Former President Ibrahim Babangida has flayed what he Wednesday described as an attempt to ridicule the military institution and some of its sterling lights in the name of politics.

Taking note of a television documentary aired on Tuesday night on a private television network to project President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the presidential election, Babangida lamented that the president’s backers at the same time poured calumny on some of the country’s former military rulers.

Babangida took strong objections to what he said were the negative imputations put on the integrity and services to the nation by Generals Olusegun Obasanjo, Muhammadu Buhari, himself; Ibrahim Babangida, late Sani Abacha, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and T.Y Danjuma.
Noting that the sponsors of the documentary which he described as a hate campaign were either intellectually delinquent or suffering from memory loss; or a combination of both, Babangida referred them to his leading role in the formation of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

He said:
“For record purposes, and without sounding immodest, the idea of a PDP that has now become the “largest party in Africa” started in my home, here in Minna. With the support of my fellow colleagues, we prepared the way for this democratic process that has now led us to where we are presently. We built the democratic infrastructure and architecture. Those who are parading themselves as democrats today, all participated in military governments. As a deliberate principle of remaining unsung, or blowing my own trumpet, I have elected over the years to maintain dignified silence on so many issues concerning Nigeria while I cultivate my access to each sitting President to pass across my advice in whatever form.

“It is on record and this is incontrovertible that the government I ran paraded some of the best brains this country can be proud of. I still remain eternally grateful to those wonderful brains who participated in our government to fashion a new roadmap for re-engineering the country. Some of our policies have remained unsurpassed till date and most of what the country enjoys today was a creation of the Military.
From primary healthcare to good roads, DFRRI, Better Life for Rural Women, housing, river basin authorities, MAMSER, new airports, agricultural development and other economic infrastructure, to mention but a few, were platforms where our interventions were felt. We achieved that much with very slim resources. If we had the several billions of dollars that are flying around today, we would have turned Nigeria to the Dubai of Africa.

“The military is an institution that is so dear to my heart. It is an institution that nurtured my growing up and my achievements in life. I am not only sold to the military institution and by extension the Nigerian state, I am betrothed to it. As a profession, retirees are bound to participate in politics and democracy as an all-inclusive process, same way that Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Nurses, and Civil Servants get involved in it.
It is the reason why I ventured into politics in 2003 before I quit in 2010. It is the same reason why General Obasanjo participated and got elected; and now General Buhari. It is therefore very curious that promoters of President Goodluck Jonathan’s aspiration would attempt to demonize and stigmatize former military leaders and cast aspersions on them in order to malign their reputation. This is very unfair.

“Fact is; the military fought a civil war to keep this country together. What I suffer today is a consequence of the injuries I sustained during the Nigeria Civil War. I am not sure there is any patriotism that is more than that. Some of us were prepared to die for the country. The military is presently combating the dreaded Boko Haram sect to restore Nigeria’s territorial integrity. What law under a democracy forbids retired military personnel from participating in politics and presenting themselves for election? Over 90 percent of American Presidents have military background.

Leadership training is better grounded in the military than any other profession. And the military parades some of the best brains in any country, including Nigeria. In fact, some of my military students that I tutored have Doctorate Degrees. It is therefore callous, wicked, out-of-sync, cynical and a show of crass ignorance for anyone to undermine the military institution by embarking on mudslinging campaigns against former presidents and leaders of military background.

“While those campaigners are pointing their accusing fingers at us, they forget to recall that the present Director-General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization is actually a retired Military Officer. It is this form of demonization and stigmatization that often compels us to exhibit espirit de corps amongst ourselves in support of our military institution and colleagues when the stakes are high. As disciplined military officers, we are patriotic Nigerians and must be treated with utmost respect and decorum.

Babangida should be silence because he contributed to the present rot in Nigeria, the PDP he created has come back to haunt him.
Lets Vote for APC and help to CHANGE Nigeria.

[b]- The GEJ Administration has:
1) Not added a dime to the external reserves despite earning far higher revenues than any Nigerian president in history;
2) Depleted external reserves to about $29bn;
3) Escalated external debt;
4) Slowed down growth in the economy, now expected to grow below 6% for 2015;
5) Pushed unemployment now over 23%;
6) Caused poverty incidence to hover above 71%;
7) Overseen domestic debt ballooning to N7.65trn from N4.55tn in 2010;
8.) Depleted the excess crude account to less than $1bn
9) The worst exchange rate in the history of this country;
10) Presided over 500% jump in payment of petrol subsidies to over N1.4trn ($8.9bn) in 2011 and 2012 respectively from just under N261bn ($1.6bn) in 2006.
We had been promised steady Power with a plan as GEJ campaigned in 2011. In 2015, he says we should try to understand why power has not gone above 4500MW in four years. The "private sector" that won bids are not even able to provide needed funds to turn the critical sector around which then begs the question, how were they picked in the first place? Considering the depth of financing needed to make the sector work, I am surprised the government did not invite foreign investors to take ownership in a few of the Discos/Transcos/Gencos and allow competition and efficiency (ala MTN & MTel) to kill off, buy or merge with the inefficient investors. I doubt we will get a better deal in Power if GEJ is given another 4 years as the first set of investors have now invested in his next 4 years and will certain dictate the tune.

Vote for a better Nigeria, Vote APC.

There are many known military collaborators and enablers of Delta state origin. An example is Chief Sunny Odogwu who was a major backer and financier of IBB's regime. He might not be from Isoko but he is definitely not from the north as well. The bottom line is that the military did not rule without civilians and the north did not rule without the south.

Before Nigeria's Independence, After the Independence, through the Civil War and before Jonathan - Millions of Nigerians (Leaders, ordinary citizens, military and civilians) bled and died for Nigeria to become what it is today.

Therefore it is insulting and despicable for Jonathan his chain of sycophants to be bragging around everywhere that Jonathan is the best thing since Sliced Bread in Nigeria. While am not a fan, but someone like IBB till date has a bullet in his leg (it is still there) sustained in fighting for the unity of Nigeria.

Fact remains, Nigerians are voting out Jonathan because he performed below average. And the choice of Nigerians must be respected by all parties in Saturday Election.

Greedy thieves, they took out abacha, imposed shonekan and Abdusalami on us. Imposed a man that slept with his sons wife on nigerians in 1999, now they want to either impose a child abuser , a man that trauncated democracy in nigeria on us or impose another interim govt. But they should know this this time around got has sent us a moses in the form of GEJ and until he fufil his mandate ,nobody I repeat no man born by a woman can Remove him rather GOD almighty will smite like the philistines. All correct Sir.
Well said my general, whatever anyone might think of you notwithstanding, you just made valid points.
My great grief is that the likes of FFK, Fayose and their likes have in their bid to justify their pay packets gone extra length to ridicule almost every single person that had at one time or the other been a source of pride to this Nation.

What am I watching and learning? That GEJ will win Niger or that IBB supports GEJ? Holding on to any of these two is failure right there.

IBB has called GEJ corrupt twice now, saying this government is more corrupt than his. Please what kind of support is this?? The first time he said this administration makes his looks like they were angels. Then the man just said in this article that with the money that has flowed through Nigeria in the recent years, they'll have built a Dubai in Nigeria. That's real support right there, in fact they should make IBB the spokesman.

Anyone who has the desire to lead this country should attend military training course now as it will soon become a requirement for people seeking the office of the president.
Like I told someone here recently, GEJ will have to attend a 3 month training in Jaji before I could consider voting for him in 2023. He needs serious drilling to liberate him from cluelessness and indisciplinegrin

Took the country on a date with corruption, destroying education, leaving us in debts, distabilized the economy, made nonsense of the people's choice (Hope '93), then smiled and called himself the evil genius to our face. He dares to complain that he is being negatively represented. Ha! He should fume, over-heat and knock.

I have been around for a while, I can authoritatively compare d government of the military in terms of development with that of the civilians esp GEJ's administration. IBB's vituperation is in order and no one can contest that. GEJ and his handlers seem to have forgotten that the Nigeria they are basking with today is built by the blood of some veterans. The fact that someone was a one time military personnel does not make him a bad person neither does it mean that the person can't rule well. Gen. Buhari having came into power through a coup and ruled for less than two years or so does make him a bad ruler. One of the hallmarks of military tradition is despotism, dictatorianism and possibly tyrannical. This is inherent in them and this is because their is no check and balances as obtainable in a democratic dispensation. But all these are on paper esp in Nigeria context. GEJ's government hasn't paraded a good democratic tradition. His government has been awashed with corruption, impunity and cluelessness. I wouldn't campaign for anybody, but I think people who really desire progress should have a rethink to chart a better course for our dear country.

The military destroyed this country.
The major security problems we have in the country today was caused by the inability of the Hausa/Fulani dominated military regimes of the past to correct the fundamental structural issues facing the country.
The Hausa/Fulani dominated military regimes have made it extremely difficult for Nigeria to forge ahead and make reasonable progress.
They failed to lay a solid foundation after over thirty years of ruling the country.
I think our problem is just lack of selfless leader. If we want 2 insinuate that d military did not lay solid foundation, has d civilian administration done any better in d last 16 yrs of uninterupted civil rule?
